>> they ended up suffering mechanical problems with their car and didn't get to finish the race. this is surveillance video from some luxury apartments in irvine, california. this is the lobby where the greeting area for the apartment complex is. the guy is milling about the lobby and eventually sits down on this couch, but watch what he does. he takes a couple fliers, lights it on fire, and stuffs it under the couch. he's trying to light the couch on fire, but he's not successful. 45 minutes later he comes back and tries again. this time he is successful. sets the couch in the leasing office on fire and takes off. police believe this was simply a diversion to he could go burglarize the apartments while there's an evacuation going on. >> oh, my goodness. >> this is about 8:30 at night. it did cause an evacuation. police believe he also went door to door alerting everyone to get

out. while he was doing that, police believe he went into an apartment to burglarize it but was caught by the resident. >> the resident that left that particular unit had forgotten his keys to his vehicle, so he turned around and went back in quickly. the suspect was armed with pepper spray. he pepper sprayed the resident and fled. >> so they're still looking for this guy? >> still looking for this guy. no idea who he is. that's why they're releasining this video. no injuries reported. firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the leasing office. it is a trip of a lifetime for american brothers cody and peter. they bought a refurbished russian plane from sweden. they went to swooeden to get it. they're hopscotching their way across europe and then the atlan atlantic and then to arizona to bring it home. on this video, you can see them on a road. they're on that road after an

emergency landing. at one point, a tractor is cutting out part of the snow so they can make a runway for these guys to take off. see all those people along the road? looky loos. just people interested in seeing them try to get that plane to america. now, on december 21st, the adventure started. they were in sweden. they got the plane. then their instrument panel went out. they had to wait for that to get fixed. at one point, the batteries went out. then the radio went dead. then snowy weather caused them a problem. then the plane sunk in the mud. >> something was definitely trying to stop them om getting where they were th problems. they'll get there. all these different things they come across, all these challenge, they're meeting people that are helping them out. that's awesome. >> good thing they're having these problems now over land. it's not going to be as easy once they get over the atlantic. >> swedish reports said they don't expect the brothers to make it back to the states until midsummer. they made it out of sweden and over a body of water into the

netherlands. as humans, it's important for all of us to take care of earth's tiniest creatures. this guy here found a mouse in his bed. instead of setting up a bunch of trap, he thought, i'm going to release this into the wild. he has the mouse in a garbage can. looks like he brings him out to this safe, lovely, wooded area. he even gives him the cute little name whiskers. whiskers is a little hesitant to leave the garbage can. eventually, he goes. >> it's comfy in there. garbage, the smell of trash. he's happy. >> get on out. good luck. >> luck was not on whisker's side this day. as this guy is giving his testimonial to the camera, keep your eyes on the background. >> i feel relieved that he's not going to wake me up in my bed anymore, crawl on my leg. but i'm kind of sad, you know. i just got to know him.
