. complete bay area coverage stats right now. this is the ktvu channel 2 news at noon. a dead body was found here. nobody would feel safe if it happened in their town or city. >> reporter: fairfield police are canvassing the streets looking for answers in the death of a 13-year-old girl. i am torii campbell, the city of fairfield is mourning the death of a 13-year-old girl killed three days ago and they went to the school where she was a student. it must be a tough day there. >> reporter: it is a tough day here and as you can see this is the growing memorial of flowers and teddy bears and candles for this 13-year-old girl and it has shaken the community no

question. they are pretty silent in terms of any information on this death being released but the latest is coming up and fairfield police will layout any possible leads in this case. the 13-year-old student lived with her foster parents a few miles away. investigators were on hand acting as a liaison looking for any further information. >> we are confident what happened had nothing to do with the school or any school related activities. parents have to know where their kids are at all times and hold their kids close and make sure they have a safety plan with their family. >> reporter: meanwhile at the park where her body was found last friday morning, a memorial continues to grow with teddy bears and candles and people

who didn't even know the girl are stopping by to give their respects. >> we have always been like a family here and it is always nice we come together for -- come together for something like this, especially for somebody so young. even if we i don't know her, we would show our respects. >> we all want to be safe in the public and it is just ashame that a child -- a shame that a child can't come out here and be safe and it really bothers me because i let my kids come over here and play. >> i just got done talking with the fairfield school district and they say grieve counselors are on hand at the school. >> reporter: but they are pretty much letting the investigation go with the police department. back out here live, you can see the memorial continues to grow and a lot of people continue to stop by this afternoon and they will be holding a press

conference either in the early part of the afternoon or at the latest tomorrow afternoon and when we get that information we will pass it along. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. they are investigating a shooting that left one man dead. police received the news of shots fired this morning and a few minutes later a passersby discovered a man's body and it was on evelyn's circle. the unidentified male was dead at the scene. police do not have a suspect or a motive for the shooting. richmond police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. a man's body was found on 10th street and lucas avenue. police responded after their shot spotter recorded gunfire in the area. when police arrived somebody directed them to the body.

his identity has not been released and police are still looking for the gunmen. they are making their way back to the area after a heart wrenching loss as they are set to arrive at the airport at 2:15 this afternoon. 49ers lost the super bowl 34-31 and it was the 49ers 6th trip to the super bowl but it is the first time they are not coming home with the lombardi trophy. they did set the record for the highest ratings in super bowl history. the game scored a 48.1 rating and a 71 share in its select measurement of big cities which means 71% of televisions on at that time were tuned in to the super bowl and nielsen is expected to have exactly how many people watched the game

later today. despite the heartbreaking loss, collin kaepernick almost pulled off the greatest come back in super bowl history. collin kaepernick led 4 second half scoring drives during a 31- yard pass to michael crabtree. he had another touchdown and while the 9ers rally came up short in the final minutes in the game, coach harbaugh blamed the ref, not his young quarterback. >> they probably have some by as there, but in my mind -- bias there, but that is not the way they saw it. >> many feel including the coach there should have been a else whoing play on that penalty, however fans have a reason to be optimistic about the team's future since this was collin kaepernick's 10th start in the nfl.

they don't know what caused the superdome to have the blackout and some feel it was beyonce's half-time performance however commissioner roger goodell says that is not what caused it. >> there is no indication at all this is what caused the blackout during the half-time show. there is nothing that points that out and that's not the case from anything we have at this point. >> superdome managers say an unknown abnormality caused a breaker to trip and caused the game to be delayed for about 35 minutes. san francisco super bowl crowds were relatively calm but san francisco police made some arrests overnight. 25 people were arrested for public intoxication. things got out of hand at 24th

tear it down. >> the city is also asking for the public's input on a possible celebration to properly send off the stick. investigators are working to identify the either people who have -- eight people who have died after a bus crash on its way to tijuana. it overturned north of ukiah 80 miles east of los angeles. 20 people were injured and authorities expect the death toll to rise. the chp says it appears the bus rear-ended a van and hit a pickup truck. >> it is a horrific scene. there is multiple victims, you know there is personal belongings, personal property at the scene. >> and investigators are looking at the possibility that the bus' breaks failed. police are trying to track

those responsible for gunning down two teenagers and the coroner has not officially identified the boy who was killed. joining us from the scene with his mother, here is janine de la vega. >> reporter: the mother was too distraught to talk on camera but she did say she wants them caught. her other son came out here to audubon drive and clemens avenue and he went out and saw his brother laying here on the ground. you can see people left candles to honor his brother's memory. jorge mendoza was 17 years old and was out with friends last night but he never came home. instead friends called to say he had been shot less than a mile away from where he lived. they rushed to the scene. >> she ran up to the body and she was hysterical. it was really sad.

>> reporter: one of mendoza's friends said a car pulled up and started asking questions and then a man got out and started shooting at them. another teen was also shot. >> he had a gun. >> reporter: what did it sound like? >> like bang, bang, bang and then i see the window people running from here. >>reporter: the other teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. police have canvassed the neighborhood talking to witnesses and have not identified any witnesses but from what they are have gathered they feel it was gang related and it happened across the street from kennedy elementary school. >> i am upset because it happened in this neighborhood. you know there is not only a school but the children are going to be scared to come out and play now. you know, we are going -- the neighbors are going to be scared to come out even to

their cars. >> reporter: two cars that were parked in the neighborhood were hit by bullets, a mini-van and a truck that police towed away for evidence. mendoza went here for high school but he dropped out two years ago. police say he is not a gang member but does hang out with them sometimes. janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 morning news. they have made an arrest in downtown oakland three days ago. the shooting claimed the life of campbell. the other three are expected to survive. up until the shooting police say the first friday had been free of violence. we are live in walnut creek where police just got a big break in a case and we will tell you how it is connected to a popular bay area newspaper. it is dry outside now but big changes are ahead.

. new at noon, a possible break in a case, they are explaining how thieves were able to use a whole list from a news upper as victims. >> reporter: they are trying to figure out how this list got out but what we know is a walnut creek couple discovered the list after their car had been stolen just last month. here is how it started. burglars try to guess who is out of town and if they see papers piling up outside they know they are gone. some ask them to stop delivering when they are going on vacation and they are targeting homes this way. police say a man from bethel island who is currently on parole and morgan from antioch

were arrested january 13th. police say they stole a car from one of the homes on the list and then headed to livermore. they were about to strike again according to police when they were able to arrest them. it was not until the walnut creek car was returned that they were able to determine this is what happened. they have been looking at this home for three months and changes have been added to the company's internal system to protect subscriber's privacy. they have seen a spike in both car and home burglaries but they are not sure it was connected to these two men who were just arrested. live in walnut creek, tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. police say a barbecue grill is to blame for an early morning fire. when firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke coming from

the back deck. four people were inside the home but escaped safely. the fire did not spread and nobody was hurt. san jose firefighters discovered a marijuana grow house when they responded to a garage fire on scottville court. they coliseumed in police who found even more -- they they say police found even more marijuana plants and they say the fire started because of wiring that was put in place to bypass the meter for electricity. here is video of a man being taken way by ambulance shortly before 7:00 a.m. he fell into the water by hyde street pier. they called after a passersby heard the man calling for help.

>> the man is very lucky. i don't know how long he was in the water, maybe approximately 20 - 30 minutes and maybe somebody was in the vicinity who heard him. >> firefighters are still trying to determine how the man ended up in the water. the team oracle racing yacht that capsized last fall is back in the water this noontime. about two hours ago, the team relaunched the boat from its base and the yacht had been out of the water since october when it flipped over during a test run for america's cup races. team oracle is planning to launch a second yacht in the coming months. water temperatures outside have turned cold and the fog i know, it was february but it looks like a pattern here in july and fog was very extensive, it looked like inland fog and most of it is

burned off. we have coast and bay fog and it looks like finally some of the fog is starting to get a few holes with some sun and it has been a slow process. if we get sun, it is not too bad. if we get more fog we will have rain and actually cold and windy will be the two words for the day. there is a fog bank again, it looks like june or july not early february but when you have that much fog in place, it is getting longer and the days are slightly longer and it will be back tonight rapidly. temperatures are on the cool side. i think that will increase or cool off. 57 antioch, yes but look at san

rosa novato, oakland airport is only 2 degrees warmer since this morning. 59 in hayward and otherwise upper 40s and 50s. cooler air may filter in later on but this system will fall apart and we will get some what all this and monday morning has developed and i think it is a dry pattern until thursday and then we get a little bit of rain not much. fog sun, cooler east and bay and -- coast and bay and upper 50s or very, very low 60s usually i don't say coastal fog this time of year but there is a lot out there. it will be sunny wednesday and they will get some clouds and rain here and we will struggle to get out of the lower 50s.

later, yale and stamford were invited to join and today there are over 1 billion facebook account holders and facebook stock is down nearly 5% today. they uncovered the remains of king richard from more than 5 million years ago. it was found along with bones buried under a parking lot. dna from the skeleton matches the dna taken from a relative of the former king and he also has a served spine which gave him a certain appearance.
