hi, everybody. i'm beth troutman. we have great videos and the stories behind them "right this minute." a guy accused of shoplifting runs over a woman at walmart. but there's a twist to this story. how a shopper trying to play the hero wound up in an orange jump suit. an update on those gallon-smashing pranksters who first told "right this minute." >> we didn't get in trouble, actually. >> that might not be the case

for much longer. >> how the smash viral hit is bringing some unwanted attention. he's 7 years old with a genetic condition. and a dog who is making him feel stronger. >> my best friend. >> the amazing tale that brought these two together. and see a training exercise that used a canine who actually used his canine. >> and then goes straight for the tender bits. >> oh! an act of violence was caught on surveillance camera at a walmart in florida. pay attention to the man in black pushing the shopping cart. according to police, that's eddie mckey and he was trying to shoplift some food items. as he was running out the door, he pushes a woman who falls to the ground. other customers come to her aid. there's a twist to this story. nearly ten seconds later, you'll see this man running out the door. according to police, that is

jose martinez. martinez is a shopper at this walmart. watch what he does. he was running after the car, but notice now that the back windshield was missing from the car. martinez was carrying a nine millimeter handgun and shot out the back window of mckey's car as mckey was fleeing the scene. >> oh, that's dodgy. i don't know about that. that's where you cross the line from like good samaritan to breaking the law. >> orange city police officers agree. wstv spoke to an orange city police officer. >> you don't know the totality of the circumstances and you could be putting yourself in harm's way where it would be detrimental to yourself or somebody else. >> they arrested jose martinez and he has been charged with two felonies, including aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle. mckey, who police say was stealing food items, he faces retail theft charges.

martinez in court said that he wasn't trying to shoot mckey, that he was just trying to mark his car. >> take the license plate. >> 911, what's your emergency? >> oddly, 911 calls came in from people who spotted mckey's car. >> there's a sports car, it's got the windshield in the back blown out. the guy looks like he's running from something. >> i guess it worked. the gallon-smashing prank video has exploded all over the place on the internet, on tv shows. we at "right this minute" the first to talk to the guys about this prank. when we talked to them, we first asked them, hey, did you guys get in any trouble for this? >> we didn't get in trouble, actually. the kind of felt bad. th kind of just a typical spill. >> that might not be the case for much longer because the fairfax, virginia, police department is now investigating this video. we reached out to them.

they told us they don't have a comment on what exactly they are investigating, but they're looking into the video at this point. because these kids didn't get caught in the moment doesn't mean that they're not going to get in trouble. this is just a flat-out jerk move. we're not the only ones who are upset about this. a lot of commenters are saying this is vandalism, criminal mischief. a lot of people upset about this video that has gone completely viral. >> we're just trying to have some fun. but we're sorry if they took it in a bad way. >> if they want us to pay, we'll pay. >> of course, we'll pay, but i mean, we were hoping it doesn't get -- >> too far. >> also in our interview with the boys, they told us that they did pay for some of the milk and they're thinking about going back and paying for the rest of it. >> are you going to pay for those gallons of milk, because milk ain't cheap nowadays. >> we'll probably do that. we're still thinking about it. >> they also told us for their next prank video, they're not

he probably has no idea that car is there. >> this doesn't look like the result of an accident. this looks like maybe the car blocked him in at a parking lot. the dude was like you know what? i gotta get where i'm going, i'm hauling it out of here. >> i can do this all day long. >> welcome to russia. you normally use a two-ton floor jack to change the tire of a car. in this league, the animal rescue league of boston is using it to jag up a shed buzz a little pup got stuck underneath there. there's diamond. you see that white dog stuck under there? they think diamond was chasing a critter through the yard, chased it underneath the shed and somehow got wedged. they had to come in, lift this shed up, dig a hole, and try and get this pup out. here you see they've got the hole dug big enough and diamond starts to work her way out.

he was 5 months old, he was hit by a train. >> hit by a train. >> one of his rear legs and his tail had to be amputated. now, owen's family adopted hatchy and they said that immediately the two became the best of friends. >> the moment that hatchy went into his bedroom, he immediately slowed down, but he gently went up to owen and placed his head so calmly and quietly on his knee and the way that he looked at owen and owen just kind of melted right in front of us and stroked his head and said hello, hatchy. >> obvious that they each recognize each other's struggles and they find beauty and comfort in each other. >> their relationship has given owen a newfound confidence. it's made him feel like he's part of a team. and now hatchy is up for an award. he's part of a competition called friends for life that celebrates heartwarming stories

of friendship in adversity where dogs have truly earned titles of man's best friend through bravery, support, and companionship. i mean, i just love this one. can you imagine somebody discarded this puppy in such a horrible way, only for it to become such a beautiful friendship? it's spectacular. >> hatchy is the best friend i ever had. this is evan shiners, and he is playing bach's french overture on two pianos. it was originally written for two instruments. he's like of course, as a piano player, i need to sit to bach's original form.
