the truck pulling this trailer was going across these train tracks, the clearance underneath these train crossing lights, that wasn't quite high enough. the drivers gout out to check the clearance. the trailer ended up on the tracks and the train, a union pacific train was coming around the corner, didn't have enough time to stop, ran right into the trailer. [ horn beeps ] and we have another angle of this crash also caught by a cell phone camera. it's much further away, but you can see the moment of impact. you can hear just a crashing of the metal. >> yeah. >> crazy that this stuff happens as much as it does. maybe you don't have enough time, if it's right around the corner, but -- we see this a lot. >> i agree. >> and we believe that that's the case in this instance, that there just wasn't enough time. the people who caught them on their cell phone cameras happened to be sitting at the red light that turned red

because the train was coming. 's they couldn't make it under the clearance and, therefore, couldn't get out of the way of the train. >> now they have a multimillion dollar mess. officials are still investigating. no injuries were reported as a result of this crash. we're all animal lovers here. these next two videos are going to be really tough for us to watch. two animal abuse videos. this first one from port st. lucie, florida. james fingo, 43 years old, accused of abusing his cat joey. recorded by a family member who was sitting there talking to fango -- >> 5,000 tokens. >> he's holding the cat down. you see him squeezing the cat's head, and then he picks the cat up. >> oh, gosh. no. i don't want to see anymore. >> turns it upside down and smacks it. >> that's heartbreaking. it looks like he could have easily broken that cat's neck. >> he was also accused of

twisting and pulling on the cat's ear. two different videos turned into police by the man's wife. he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for animal cruelty. according to examineations done by a vet on the cat, they say it has injuries consistent with chronic trauma to the cat's tail, and also showed damage to the cartilage of the cat's ears. so -- >> a normal person who's right in the mind does not do this to an animal that is their pet. >> let's head over to kansas city, missouri, where a dog is making a recovery. this german shepherd, witnesses say, flew off an overpass. about 40 feet high. >> oh. >> when you see the overpass, you can clearly see that there's tall fencing above the overpass. so everybody seems to believe, including the witnesses, that this dog was thrown from the overpass. the dog's name is lindy and when the dog was taken to the vet it was already determined the dog was underweight and also had worms. this 40-foot fall caused four

broken teeth a ruptured spleen, scraped its hind legs and tore all the ligaments and tendons in the front paws of the dog. you see the dog has two full casts on pt the german shepherd is expected to make a full recovery and nobody has yet come forward to claim this dog. >> this is terrible. you know what? if this is your dog and you fall on tough times and you just don't have the money, there are a lot of options. donations have already come in to help lindy out but the vet bills of future surgeries the dog is expected to need are expected to run around $10,000. >> oh, geez. this is a video they've been talking about in pittsburgh over the last few days. i told you guys about it. the teen, driving into the store. the original video we saw that. the teen identified at joseph angle. this from wpxi. you see from the exterior of the scene, going over the curb.

noecht who drives by on the street. there is a police cruiser drying by and the owner of the store thinks that may have spooked the 17-year-old, and he hits the gas instead of the brakes. >> because he didn't have a license. that's the theory that -- okay. well -- you can clearly see, though, he was trying to pull into a parking spot, where he would hit the brake he hit the gas. it's an accident, but he did just have a permit. >> and apparently told store workers he was trying to teach himself how to drive with one foot instead of two, but here's more video that shows he didn't leave the scene. goes back into the store. looking for stuff. picks up his side mirror. >> notice what's happening here. >> even after the crash, a customer comes in and buys a drink. >> the owner has something to say. remember, this is the second time a car has been driven into his store. >> i don't know. maybe thhe didn't like my hoagi prices. he drove in and drove out. >> he should consider putting in a drive-through.

this is one of those videos that might just inspire you to get up out of your chair and do something crazy. what we're seeing is tom smith, he's going to be 30 years old in september. he's a web application designer and he says, you know what? time to get out there and do some amazing things. in fact, 30 amazing things. so for his first one he's going to train for and participate in an organized run. one of those color runs we've been seeing. this one particularly in l.a. at dodger stadium, and it got all sorts of colors all over the place. looking like they're having a great time doing it. he made a list of 30, and this is just one thing. from january of 2013 to september of 2014, he's going to be completing these 30 amazing things, and to talk to us about what he's got planned next, we've got thomas smith coming to us from los angeles via skype. okay. so was it just a cubicle that
