crashing into a police cruiser. police say it started with a roby at 24-hour wal-mart this morning. authorities say 64-year-old robert craig of vallejo claimed to have a gun and took off with a television. the suspect crashed into a police car and was taken into custody. the officer were not hurt. friend of a richmond man who was shot and killed on monday held a car-wash today to raise money for funeral expense. police say 20-year-old lincoln plair was washing a car for a family he often helped when he was gunned down. relative say plair spent many hours volunteering at the pogo park in the iron triangle neighborhood. he would pick up trash including singers from the playground to make it safe for children. there have been no arrest in his death. we are getting word that a missing high school student from martinez is safe tonight. martinez police say they have credible information that 1- year-old ryan

menjivar is in good shape. as we reported missing on february 25th. family and friends held a vigil for him on wednesday. friends told us that he had been bullied at school. the family of a missing oakland woman is planning a prayer vigil tomorrow in hope of bringing her home. 31-year-old erica maska-leris was seen in oakland on wednesday at a store on 34th street and telegraph avenue. that is where her friends and family plan poto hold a vigil and say maska-leris is in good physical and mental condition, but has had suicidal tendcies in past. new video that highlights those who stood by the side road to pay respect to two slain santa cruz officers. this was taken by a police officer who mounted a camera as he rode along the motorcade for

now to our continuing coverage on preparations to elect a successor to pope benedict. today crew set up a chimney on the roof of the sistine chapelle. the conclave is scheduled to begin tuesday the new pope is chosen by the college of cardinals and the chimney installed play an important role in the proceedion. after each round of voting bit cardinalled the ballots are burned. if black smoke is rising from the chimney, it means no pope has been selected. but if white smoke emerges it means that the cardinals have reached a majority vote on a new pope. a taxing debate in one bay area city. the proposal to charge people for every e-mail they send, and where all of that money would go. a very popular tourist attraction on the chop block and the reason that the people will not be allowed to tour the

whizzed past earth. scientist just discovered the space rock six days ago. these images come from a space telescope in the canary island. researches say the asteroid is about the size of a football field and at its closest was about 600,000 mile away, more than twice as far asp moon. there was no danger of it striking earth like the one that landed in russia last month. if you look outside, you probably see a lot of stars, because it's been clear and warm. >> temperatures are back up in the 70s. a few spot would be approaching the 80-degree mark. so get ready for that. we have been advertising a warm- up. can you see the temperatures from this afternoon rake from the upper 50s in pacifica to the 60s to lower 70s out toward santa rosa, fairfield and antioch. right now you can see the clear sky on live stormtracker it with basically a few high clouds moving into parts of the bay area. with the clearing skies temperatures have been dropping off this even.
