area. no vandalism, no graffiti, no damage to report, no arrest and no injuries. live in berkeley, ken wayne, ktvu channel 2 news. also in berkeley a punctured gas line started a fire right in front of the house at virginia street and martin luther king at about 2:30 this afternoon. a construction worker hit the gas line with a pick while doing some excavation work. the fire damaged a truck parked in front of the home and the eves of the home but not the inside. firefighters are estimating the damage to be about $20,000. new information about a pleasanton preschool where a teacher is accused of using masking tape on a child. it's not clear if the resignations are related to the masking tape incident. 24-year-old angela calcano took

asking for the public's help tonight to catch two burglars. this surveillance footage was taken on february 25th at the apartment building in the 1100 block of guerrero street. police say it shows two men picking a lock to steal a key left for postal carriers so they can get into the building. the two men are then seen inside walking through the garage before they disappear into an area with no cameras. here's a look at the men. investigators are asking anyone with information about their identities to call san francisco police. a bill to approve civil unions for same-sex couples is on the desk of colorado governors tonight. passage of the bill culminates the rights to same-sex couples. one passage from a 29-26 vote in colorado's health. two republicans joined all the democrats to approve the measure. the democratic governor is expected to sign the bill. the boy scouts is surveying about allowing gays and

plea be entered on behalf of holmes. he is accused of killing eight people and wounding 68 others in that shooting in aurora colorado. prosecutors say they will announce whether they plan to seek the death penalty on november 24th. 28-year-old dennis macedo of sunny vale is facing three counts of vehicle manslaughter while intoxicated as well as other charges. macedo slammed into a car saturday night instandly killing three members of one family. family friend remains in critical condition. macedo was speeding away from another crime at the time. this accident happened about 11:40 this morning on san thomas. preliminary reports indicate the car may have veered on to the shoulder and hit the cyclist. investigators say the 20-year- old driver left the scene and

went to a pete's coffee store about three miles away where she called her father. the two then returned to the scene. no charges have been filed. police released photos of a man and woman. the female robber approached the victim after they both got off a light rail train and then beat the victim to the ground. this occurred on the evening of february 6. investigators say the male robber then helped steal the purse and both left the scene on their bicycles. anyone with information about the case is asked to contact san jose police. a report of sexual battery on a bay area campus has police warning students tonight and asking for the public's help. eric rasmussen tells us this all took place in the shower stall of a women's locker room and shows us what's being done to find the suspect. >> reporter: the timing and location inside the wellness center has some students on

situations. amber lee has the story. >> reporter: this new fence went up right workers cleared out the homeless encampment that was located under interstate 80 just down the street from the giant's ballpark. for some it's been months for other years since they stayed in an indoor shelter. now they're offering them a place to stay at the city of refuge church. by tomorrow afternoon each person will be assigned a case manager and moved to a hotel room. and offer this woman hopes will be the path way out of homelessness. >> that way we pave the way for other homeless people. >> reporter: he's trying to different approach to encourage the homeless to accept help. >> the main reasons that people won't accept shelter or services is they're going to be separated from their dog or pet or they're told that their possessions are going to go

happening now it's dawn in vatican city where the papal conclave will meet. we expect to see four votes today two in the morning and two in the afternoon. if you think you know who the next pope is going to be you can bet a lot of money on that choice. outside the vatican a gambling site called paddy power is taking bets of up to $5,000. a cardinal from milan is the favorite. but a lot has been bet on new york cardinal. groups of catholic women held demonstrations at locations including the vatican, washington, d.c., and in san francisco all as part of the so called pink smoke movement.

as we get into thursday temperatures cool down but they just cool down to the mid-70s. so it's not a typical thing. this time of year you get warm and you expect a big cool down. it's going to be warm and then it'll get a bit milder. the extended forecast stays dry. that's sort of the weather headline. we have no rain in this forecast through this five day. looks like maybe something comes along the middle of next week and by now that's kind of in and out. forecast highs tomorrow yellows are 70s. oranges are 80s and you see lots of 70s but these are upper 70s. we're going to see plenty of orange blobs or 80s popping up tomorrow. fairfield, concord, fremont, san jose you will see your share of 80s tomorrow. the forecast for the next few days dry, the forecast for the next week, dry. and the forecast for the first few days of next week dry as well. so patchy coastal fog is really our main weather feature in terms of clouds and stuff. the other weather feature temperatures above the average. forecast highs tomorrow, 80 in fairfield, 81 in antioch. 82 in brentwood. numbers are going to be nice.
