features anna eschu and they plan to celebrate the installation of the pope on friday. this race car crash killed two spectators north of sacramento. we learned the driver is a sonoma county teenager. this is where he goes to school. good morning, alex. >> reporter: this is a difficult day. he is a senior here at the high school and lives in nearby pen grove. this young man has been racing since he is five years old. chase johnson. he is an up and comer in the sprint car series. according to many of his colleagues. he lost control and doing practice laps at the marysville raceway. his car went over a wall and flu into the pit area. that is where two bystanders were hit and killed. one of them was johnson's 14-year-old cousin. the other is a 68-year-old man

who owned several race cars. the driver had trouble negotiating the turn. he had trouble with the turn. people in the crowd watched in horror and they were stunned by the crash. >> you come out and people in the pit and you never know what is going to happen. it is racing. so, racing can be dangerous. now the track owner said johnson was able to walk away from the crash unhurt. witnesses thought the car had mechanical issues and it didn't slow down before it flu off the track. investigateers say it is far too early to know the cause of the accidents just yet. >> johnson comes from a racing family. both the dad and uncle are sprint car drivers and they say the petaluma high school senior has won more than 140 events in his racing career. we are live in petaluma.

authorities say 22-year-old matthew bushner was hit on the boulevard north and washington street. according to the police, the driver took off and later found with alcohol in his car. he is currently on probation for a dui conviction last year. the pedestrian may have been drinking and that may have played a role in the crash. this is the second gunman. and shooting at a popular berkeley dance hall. it opened its show yesterday with prayer. workers are still shaken by the violence. during the robbery at the club. two gunman shot and wounded two employees. they are expected to recover. other employees say there could have been more victims. >> i hear someone say gun and i am telling to my p boss to figure out what we are going to do. then i look and my boss was hit. lying here bleeding. they were able to track down one of the suspects.
