protection of workers. hundreds marched down market street and it is part of a day of action around the country to push for immigration reform. and protesters are still fighting for documentation and we talked to a teacher who has been working with immigrants since the 1980s. >> the voice's of people is critical and the nation, because of the election has a new ear for what the future hold for these people. >> reporter: leaders of this march say they have met with senators to ask for support and earlier tonight protesters laid out a wreath of paper flowers that represent the thousands or so of people deported every day. >> in the south bay there were a

number of event scheduled on this national day of action. at the sacred heart community people gathered to share stories and as many as 180,000 people in santa clara joined together. people held a march and rally in san jose in support of a reform plan. union workers and community members marched at noon today and several student spoke before the rally saying they came as children and hope to stay as legal citizens to give back to their community. more details on where things stand on a bipartisan immigration reform. it would expand survey video and

it would set up a system at airport to tract visas and require workers to use a system that would determine the worker's status. the planned labor day weekend opening of the bay bridge may be in jeopardy. john fowler is live. john? >> reporter: well the bridge should be safer in an earthquake, the whole reason this $6.4 billion bridge is being built. and the bridge bolts failed last month are being fixed, or might be, there is no fix yet.

on-ramp on northbound interstate-85. our crew found an i d card and they are trying to determine if it is the person who was killed. young has been identified as the man killed from richmond build. he was trying to turn his life around. the crew visited the scene and a vigil is expected to begin in a few minutes. so arrest have been made. new video of an armed robbery, two men walk into the grocery outlet and the robber pointed a gun and after words were exchanged he fires into the air and then left with the money. the police believe the pair is
