well, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. we begin with sal. >> breaking news, crash, involving a transit bus and several other vehicles. ktvu's claudine wong is on the scene as we look at live pictures from newschopper2. they are working hard to clear the lanes. looks like one of the paramedic vehicle is just leaving -- vehicles is just leaving. let's go to claudine? >> reporter: five cars were involved. you can see multiple tow trucks out here trying to get these cars out of the way. pretty decent damage to the back of at least several cars that we've seen. the vta bus is actually up in front of that tow truck that you are looking at right now. now, i've talked to the chp about what happened and a witness out here who also stopped after this all

happened. he says it all started with one car who rear ended another and then fell out of the car for some reason and that car drifted across the lanes and that's when all of these multiple collisions happened. here's the witness who pulled over describing what happened -- >> someone got rear ended here. the car was still guest in drive, i guess, hit the barrier, continued to cross the lanes without anybody in the driver's seat. the gentleman was ejected over here. as it came across, they bus stopped in front of it. it looked like they were gonna halt up and someone who didn't see what was going on rear ended another car. pretty bad. >> reporter: back out here drive, along 85 right before the expressway, they are trying to make quick work of this and get this back up and going. again, fortunately, no major injuries. they had several ambulances out here because you had so many vehicles involved. they got these two lanes open.

if you pan around, there's the 87 connector. if you take a look on the ramp, you can see the traffic back up there. of course, backing up is all of these folks trying to get down to northbound 85. the chp said they are hoping at 7:30 to have this up and going. they are trying to move this quickly and get everything out of the way to try to fix this mess before it gets any worse. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:03. three teenaged boys have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a high school student of saratoga who later committed suicide. the parents of audrie pott says she took her life after someone posted a photo of the sexual assault online. her parents say she was drunk and unkerns when at least three boys sexually assaulted her at a party last fall. her parents now hope the boys will be prosecuted as adults. >> the family hopes that these

boys are brought to justice and that they face the gravest consequences that they can regardless of their age. >> this case has drawn comparison to the case in steubenville, where the two high school football players were convicted of rape after video of an unconscious girl was posted online while being sexually assaulted. a suspected drunk driver is in the hospital after a frightening crash that involved his car, tire shop and fire hydrant. tara moriarty joins us live. what's the scene like now, tara? >> reporter: well, it's a very busy intersection. so a lot of people are noticing this fire hydrant that's been shored up. down the street if you take a look, you can see it's muddy here and there's water where

the water had been gushing down the street. against this building, there's a hole there and that's where the car came to rest. water spewed out at 2:15 sending it down the entire block. the driver slammed into the tire shop after hitting a vehicle. police say he appeared to be intoxicated but they need to confirm that. he walked away without a scratch. he was emotional when being handcuffed and taken to the hospital for observation. the owners of the tire shop, as of now -- they didn't want to speak on camera but as of now, no charges have been filed. he could sustain dui damage. no word on how much it will cost to fix the driving. if the driver is found at

fault, it will cost more than $10,000 to replace the fire hydrant. live from oakland, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 7:05. hayward police are looking for a missing man, the family of 35- year-old nigel jay say they last heard from him sunday night. he was in alameda at the time. police say they consider his disappearance suspicious. his family says it's out of cake ter for him -- character for him not to contact family. anyone with information should call hayward police. happening right now, secretary of state, john kerry, is meeting with south south korean leaders trying to defuse tensions. earlier, he called these threats from north korea unacceptable. coming up, his visit to south korea comes as there are new concerns about whether north korea has a nuclear warhead that will fit on a missile. we're hearing more details of a bipartisan immigration

bill. senate republicans and democrats expect to unveil the legislation next week. aides say the bill could deny hundreds of thousands of immigrants in the u.s. illegal from ever becoming citizens. only people in the country before december 31st, 2011 can apply for a legal status and then eventually citizenship. applicants also have to have jobs or some financial stability and no criminal records. 7:07. wildlife advocates are angry over a construction project along the highway 101 bridge over the petaluma driver. the press democrat reports the three-year project began this month. workers put up netting on the underside of the stand to prevent migratory swallows from nesting there. it was supposed to keep them safe. but this photo was taken to show the birds dying. 34 dead birds have been found

so far. bird enthusiasts say the netting was officially installed. the owners of a cemetery in tracy have decided to take an effort to prevent vandalism. they are going to install security cameras to monitor the headstones around the clock. this comes after a disturbing crime earlier this year. vandals toppled and smashed dozens of headstones. the damage was relatively small but the crime caused enormous pain for many families in the tracy area. >> why would somebody do this? i mean, it's not their family but it's somebody else's mom, dad, sister, something. >> the security plan came after the cemetery considered other options, there was talk about shutting the beats and restricting -- gates and restrigetting access -- restricting access but the board that would be unfair for those visiting the gave site.

the city adopted a policy three years ago that made elected officials personal e- mail subject to disclosure. the san jose city council has now voted to appeal a judge's ruling that would apply that policy to the entire city workforce. some analysts say the outcome of that case could have implications all over california. starting today, temporary lane closures may cause delays at the san mateo hayward bridge toll plaza. caltrans and the bay area toll authority are installing new, automated toll systems. this project will last the next few weeks. once done, they will install the new tolls at the dumbarton bridge and the san francisco/oakland bay bridge. speaking of that bridge, let's check in with sal for a look at the toll plaza. sal? >> that's right. they are gonna do this work on all of the bridges on all of

the toll plazas. just updating the equipment there. we're talking about san jose this morning. if you are looking at northbound 85, we had a crash that blocked all of the lanes at one point. but now it looks like only the right lane is closed as it cleared the injury crash. northbound 85 just before 87, you can see vta bus was involved. the passengers on the bus have been taken away by another vehicle. another bus, by the way. and traffic is slow in the area. northbound 85 right near 87, this morning, no major injuries, minor injuries only and the medics and fire department have left the scene. let's take a look at the westbound bay bridge, this traffic is light getting into san francisco and the morning commute looks good on 80 westbound the east shore freeway coming in from richmond to berkeley. let's go back to steve. >> thank you. happy friday. kind of cold. it will be another nice day. some fog, closer to the coast,

i was -- then all of a sudden, it just stopped and then -- all i could do was pray. >> tennessee declared a state of emergency as well. there were tornado watches for parts of the carolinas earlier this morning. the storm is being blamed for three deaths so far. a 15-year-old from san rafael is counting his blessings after falling into a lava tube in hawaii. it happened at hawaii volcano's national park on wednesday night. the boy reportedly tried to jump over this railing surrounding a volcanic steam vent and fell 25 feet below with hot rocks below. his mother called 911. rescuers got him okay. he had some bumps and bruises but is otherwise okay. john kerry is in south korea this morning as nuclear threats from north korea escalate. as kyla campbell reports from our washington, d.c. newsroom, john kerry is prepared to talk with north korea.

tom clements. clements was shot to death last month at his home. investigators say goolly is linked to the suspected gunman. 7:18. monday is tax day in case you needed a reminder. facebook employees could be facing a big bill. others could still have a large bill since the company has gone public. if any of the workers have been counting on using profits from the facebook stock to cover the tax bill, well, they are out of luck since the stock is still about $10 below the opening day price of $38 a share. tax professionals say employees may need to sell some of their shares that they need to cash to pay the irs. the female falcon living in san jose city hall is a mother for the fifth time. this is new video on top of city where where the falcons are cliving. that's momma -- living.

the french senate pass voted to legalize same-sex marriage. this puts the country's gay marriage bill on traffic to become law by summer. the justice minister says this will move the country toward more freedom and equality. some conservative senators are vowing to continue their opposition to the bill. 7:23. blood banks often warn of blood shortages but in 1985, the fda banned gays from giving and

ktvu's lorraine blanco is at the crash site near san lorenzo high school as students remember their classmate. good morning, lorraine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. it's a very sad scene out here. the principal did confirm to us, the teenaged victim did attend san lorenzo high school. they organized the vigil on instagram last night. they have been bringing up flowers. a student just brought up a guitar. it's gonna start any minute now. the alameda county sheriff avenue department tells us the 14-year-old boy and two other teens were walking south along the tracks and playing chingen with the train around 6:45 yesterday evening. the train hit the boy. the train was headed from san jose to sacramento. a teacher here said the students go through a train safety program every year because of the school's close proximity to the tracks. >> i felt kind of shocked. i saw him at lunch. and then i heard about it on

facebook. honestly, i didn't want to believe it. but it happened. he was a loved student. we love every one of the students here that go to san lorenzo high. we lost a family member. >> reporter: this is new video of students starting to arrive at san lorenzo high school. the principal said the school will hold a moment of silence at 8:00 a.m. she said the district and administrators are meeting to discuss their plan for the day and counselors will be onhand to help the students hope. she did say she would be giving a statement later this morning. she's meeting with people from the school district and other administrators to try to figure out how they are gonna handle -- [no audio] >> time no su 7:31 -- is now 7:31. that was lorraine blanco.

this is a story you will see only here on 2, daly city police are searching for a person of interest in the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl. now, the man was last scene on this surveillance video. this is at a ross store in serra monty center. he reportedly went there after attack at an office building. the girl was in counseling. her therapist allowed her to walk down the hallway to the restroom. as she locked the door, the man followed her in and molested her. her family is taking care of her. >> very, very, very strong lady. i mean, she's handling this very well. >> the uncle did not want us to show his face trying to protect the girl. police say this person of interest may have been a passenger in a tan car possibly a honda or toyota with an elderly asian woman driving it. the attacker described as a slender asian man between 18

and 25 years old with a mustache and many facial moles. he walks with a limp. he may be developmentally disabled. well, the police manhunt for a suspect considered armed and dangerous has expanded from marin county to santa cruz county. they say deme tree just storm was -- demetrius storm was seen twice, tuesday and wednesday. these are photos of storm from prior arrests. santa cruz county sheriffs say storm may be in one of two vehicles, a black audi or a green kia. both were stolen in the past couple of days. authorities say last -- authorities say last friday's storm had a suspect flee from a chase.

california lawmakers are considering a bill that would likely lead to fewer gun shows at a cal palace in the future. there's been a boom in ammunition sales ever since president obama began pushing for gun control legislation. that's led to a nationwide shortage of bullets driving up both demand and costs. many police agencies and gun shop owners here in the bay area say they've never seen the supply slow -- so low and the demand so high. one gun store in south san francisco is only receiving about a quarter of its regular shipments of bullets. >> there's panic going on nationwide due to anticipated gun legislation. there's panicked buying going

on. it makes it hard for us to receive any trickled down, you know, retail. >> the shortage is affecting bay area police agencies. some are waiting up to a year for ammunition, depending upon the caliber of bullets. the u.s. senate will begin considering new gun control legislation next week. that's after the senate voted 68-31 to move toward with the debate. that means the threat of a filibuster to avoid the debate won't happen. some family members are on capitol hill urging lawmakers to pass fun control legislation. supporters say, though, it will still be a struggle to get 60 votes on the actual gun control measures. people in newtown, connecticut are celebrating the senate's decision to move forward with gun control debate. yesterday members of the action alliance gathered at town hall and read the names of more than 3300 people killed by guns.

they vowed to remain here for 24 hours or until the senate voted to end any possible filibuster. the group says lawmakers need to remember that guns are killing people every day. 7:35. baseball, a los angeles dodgers' pitcher sidelined for two months after a bench clearing fight last night. >> hit again. quentin didn't like that. look at this. >> this is not pretty. zack greinke, the pitcher, hit carlos quintin with that pitch. quentin charged the man, you saw him, collided shoulder to shoulder with greinke and greinke's collar pone, his left collarbone is broken. he's probably out for six to eight weeks. quentin is a big guy. after the game, matt kemp and quentin swinged at each other. greinke, he just signed $147

million contract in the offseason. investigators in contra costa county are telling us more about a financial aid scam at a community college. it happened at the san pablo campus of contra costa college. a couple in rich mofernd enrolled 20 people to apply for aid. the couple then took 25% or about $675 of the $2,775 students received in financial aid. but those students never went to class. criminal charges have been filed against everyone involved. 7:37. a chinese bank has pulled out what would have been one of the biggest development projects in san francisco history. it would have transformed the hunter's point naval shipyard with the construction of 12,000 new homes. the same project called for building several high rises. but the talks between the chinese state-run bank and the american developer collapsed.

the news is especially disappointing since mayor ed lee recently returned from china. >> what happened? how did he drop the ball? he had to drop the ball? because they were committed to helping out. >> you know, i don't think it's falling apart. i think we don't have the funding yet from the sources that we had previously wanted to have. >> however, the developer says the first phase of the project will still go ahead as planned. more than 200 homes will be built this summer. starting monday, half of the thoroughfare will shut down due to major roadwork on the b.a.r.t. extension to san jose. signs are posted warning drivers to expect delays. crews will work 7:00 to 7:00 p.m. monday through saturday and sunday if needed, for up to nine months. cars heading in both directions will be diverted to one side of the road while crews work on the other. the project should be completed by 2017. that will make such a

7:44. we have breaking news from santa cruz county. scotts valley high school will be closed today due to a threat that showed up on a facebook page. investigators still don't know if the threat is a hoax but school administrators say they don't want to take any chances. so they are canceling all classes today. this one again is happening at scotts valley high school in santa cruz county.

we do have a news crew heading to the campus. an unattended baby left in the car by her mother is now in the custody of her father. this happened wednesday afternoon at the marina square shopping mall in san leandro. around noon, several witnesses saw the unattended baby and called 911. police say the 4-month-old was crying hysterically and spwetting profusely -- sweating profusely. police say they found the mother, robin chan, shopping. >> she admitted the child was there and thought it was okay because the windows were down. that's not okay. >> chan will return to court in three weeks and was ordered child safety counseling. an ipad got stuck in a woman's bumper. it happened after a man left his ipad on top of his car and

drove off. the ipad launched in the woman's bumper. she kept driving, not noticing it was there. she was able to track down the owner and he says it still works. apple will pay $53 million in the settlement. according to "wire" magazine, hundreds of thousands of customers will receive cash payments for faulty phones not covered by warranties. individual payments should be around $200. apple signed the agreement on wednesday but did not admit to any wrongdoing. taking a live look at the big board, stocks are sliding in early trading. bank shares are leading the decline. wells fargo and j.p. morgan reported high revenue. the commerce department says retail sales fell in march by the most in nine months. the dow is down 51. the nasdaq is down 21.

welcome back. breaking news from santa cruz county. ktvu news has just confirmed that scotts valley high school will be closed today due to a threat that showed up on a facebook page. >> the district has issued a warning to parents on school's website. authorities spotted the threat around midnight early this morning and police are now on campus investigating. they still don't know if the threat is a hoax. but school administrators say they don't want to take any chances. they are canceling all classes today at scotts valley high school. ktvu's claudine wong is heading to the scene right now and will have a live report coming up on "mornings on 2." 8:00. three teenaged boys have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a high school student from saratoga who later

committed suicide. the parents of audrie pott says she took her life days after someone posted a photo of the sexual assault online. her parents say she was drunk and unconscious when at least three high school boys sexually assaulted her last fall at a party. audrie pott's parents now hope the boys, who are facing felony charges, are gonna be prosecuted as adults. >> the family hopes these boys are brought to justice and they face the gravest consequences they can regard also of their age. >> this case is similar to the case in steubenville, ohio. a suspected drunk driver is now in the hospital after getting a fire hydrant and a fire shop overnight. ktvu's tara moriarty has been at the shop since 4:30.

disappearance suspicious. his family says it's out of character for him to not contact family. anyone with information is asked to call hayward police. 8:02. new this morning, secretary of state, john kerry is meeting with south korean leaders in south korea trying to reduce the tensions with north korea. now, earlier today in south korea, kerry called the threats from north korea unacceptable. coming up for you at 8:14. kerry's visit to south korea comes as there's growing concerns about whether north korea has a nuclear weapon that will fit on a missile. we're hearing details of a bipartisan immigration bill. senate republicans and democrats expect to unveil the legislation next week. now, the aides say the bill could deny hundreds of thousands of immigrants who are in this country illegally from ever becoming citizens. only people in the country before december 31st, 2011, could apply for legal status and ultimately citizenship.

the applicants have to have jobs or financial sta builtty and -- stability and have no criminal records. wildlife advocates are angry about a construction project over the petaluma river. the three-year project began this month. workers put up netting to prevent swallows from nesting there. it was supposed to keep them safe. but the press democrat took this picture of birds dying after getting caught in the netting. 34 dead birds have been found so far. enthusiasts say the netting was hastily installed. contractors are installing more durable and visible net. the owners of a cemetery in tracy have dedecided to -- decided to install security cameras to monitor the headstones around the clock because of vandalism.

this comes after a disturbing crime earlier this year when vandals toppled and smashed headstones and faces. while the damage was small, this caused a lot of pain for families in the tracy area. >> why did somebody do this? it's not their family. it's somebody else's mother, dad, sister. >> the cemetery considered shutting gates and restricting access. but the board thought that would be unfair for those visiting the grave sites. family members and friends remember the san jose man shot to death over the weekend by holding a candlelight vigil. he died after being shot outside of a party on center road early saturday morning. police say members of several vietnamese street gangs were at the party. friends say he had just graduated from nursing school at fresno state.

three federal judges have ruled the california's prison overcrowding order will stay in effect. yesterday's ruling is the latest setback for governor brown in the coning legal battle. now, the governor says california could save millions of dollars by ending the court oversight of the state's prison system. but the judges say the current overcrowding violents the constitution's ban on cruel and unusual punishment. 8:05. the city of san jose is fighting the release of e-mail and text message records. the move comes after the city adopted a policy three years ago that made elected officials' personal e-mail and text messages about city business subject to disclosure. but the san jose city council has now voted to appeal a judge's ruling that would apply the policy to the entire city work force. analysts say the outcome could have implications statewide.

railing surrounding the vol cappic steam vent. rescuers got him. he suffered only bumps and bruises. breaking news out of north carolina. north carolina a and t state university has been put on lockdown after reports of a man with a rifle on campus. the university updated the website this morning to tell students to stay inside and lock their doors. the school located in greensboro has about 10,000 students. no shots have been fired but again, the campus is on lockdown. we'll continue to update you on this breaking story. this is happening in greensboro, north carolina. there's a new warning that north korea does have a nuclear weapon that could be launched on a missile. this comes as john kerry makes his first trip to the korean peninsula as secretary of state. ktvu's kyla campbell is in our washington, d.c. newsroom with

kerry's warning to north korea. kyla? >> reporter: north korea warned that tokia could be the first target should a missle be launched. john kerry said a missile launch by north korea could be a huge mistake. speaking from seoul, something south korea, he reiterated american would defend our eales. u.s. officials say the missles have a 2500-mile range. they could strike japan, south korea and guam, where the u.s. has thousands of troops. and just yesterday, classified information from the pentagon was mislabeled and then read aloud at a public hearing. this says the defense intelligence agency does believe that north korea has a nuclear weapon that could be mounced on a missile but its reliability is slow low.

breaking news from santa cruz county. claudine wong joining us now live with information on a threat, one that's closed down scotts valley high school. what do you know, claudine? >> reporter: i just got off the phone with scotts valley police. but first, i want to show you what's happening out in front of the high school. you can see they've blocked off the entrance to the school. they are getting everyone coming by, they are getting them know the campus is closed. they have police stationed out

here. we also know they were out here talking to people about what happened. here's what police tell me -- they say last night about 10:00 p.m., they got a call from a student. that student told them he found an anonymous post on a facebook page that basically said that if anyone came to school today they would be shot and killed. what the police department did at that point, they do not know how valid this post was and didn't know who posted it. they alerted the district. the district said we're gonna make the decision to chance -- to cancel classes for friday while this is checked out. they put out an alert that this was the decision late last night. this morning, they came out here to let parents know, the ones who didn't get the alert. we just got off the phone with the superintendent of the district, penny weaver and she talked about what they did out here this morning. >> there were some students and parents that had not received

the messages or -- or had not been able to look at the news or the e-mail and they were arriving at campus. so the principal, myself, a number of other staff members and several officers were at the front gates of the school. we did secure them to prevent traffic and one by one explained to the folks who arrived in their vehicles what was going on. >> reporter: you can see one of the discussions happening right now with this person in the red car as people stop and try to figure out what's going on. these folks come up and basically explain what's happening. what's happening next? that's still a little unclear. the police department tells me they have an investigator following up on leads. they are oovl trying to track down -- obviously trying to

track down the person responsible for the post. by 2:00, they want to make a decision whether they will have classes on monday. that decision has not been made yet. again, still trying to chase down where this threat came from and trying to determine how valid of a threat it rewas. back to you. in north carolina police are searching for a reported gunman. we told you about this about 15 minutes ago. it's happening at north carolina a and t state university. students are being told stay inside. lock your doors. police say a man with a rifle was reported near the general classroom building. we haven't heard of any shots fired. but that campus, that north carolina a and t campus is on lockdown. we'll bring you any new information as we get it. shock and sadness as san low ren ze high school.

students -- lorenzo high school. students are mourning the loss of a high school student killed on the train tracks. lorraine blanco is live with new information from the school drill. what are they saying -- ill officials. what are -- officials. what are they saying? >> reporter: they told us this is a difficult time for students and staff here at san lorenzo high school. there will be a lot of support for anyone who needs it. as for students, a bunch of teens that are friends with the boy killed out here on the tracks just finished praying near the tracks. this is new video of the gathering. about 100 students held hands and said a few words about the student. the teen and two other students were walking south along the tracks and playing chingen with the northbound train around 6:45 in the evening when the amtrak train hit that boy. the train was headed from san jose to sacramento. today for students and staff, it's all about start, the

healing process. >> we try to stay student center and respond to the various needs of the students that they have the things they need. it will take quite some time to deal with such a tragedy. we'll have the mental health counseling on site. we'll just kind of go based upon what the students need and have the difference areas set up for them to get additional services today. >> reporter: while the teens were holding that vigil, several others were still walking on the tracks. the district officials and union pacific railroad police are standing by out here to make sure that everyone stays away from the track. another interesting note that the principal told us. a few years back, she said something like this happened where a child was also killed on the tracks out here. this has been an ongoing problem for the school and will continue to address the problem by giving the students training every year about how to stay safe around these train tracks. reporting live in san lorenzo,

lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. you this in morning -- new this morning, chevron is announcing that at 10:00 a.m., this will release its investigation into the richmond refinery fire. the explosion and fire ignited last august. more than 15,000 people required medical treatment at local emergency rooms. chevron took out a full-page ad in the paper. it reads they will post finds about the fire on its website. we have set up a news link on the ktvu website where you can check out the report. firefighters put out a fire at a home in fremont earlier this morning. it happened on continental avenue and yorktown road about 7:00 a.m. chopper 2 was live over the scene. you can see the roof of the home is heavily damaged. there were two adults, five children and three dogs. they all managed to get out safely. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. 8:35. only on 2, a 10-year-old girl

sexually assaulted at an office building in daly city. ktvu obtained this surveillance video, a person of interest seen at a ross store in serramonte center. the girl was at the office for counseling. her therapist allowed her to walk down the hallway to the restroom. as she unlocked and opened the door, a man came up behind her, followed her in and molested her. the victim's family wants to know why she was left alone. police say the suspect may have been a passenger in a tan car, possibly a honda or toyota, with an asian woman driving it. the attacker slibbed as a -- described as a slender asian man, between 18, 25 years old. with a mustache and several facial moles. he walks with a limp and may be developmentally disabled. the search for a man considered armed and dangerous has now expanded from m rin county to santa cruz county.

officials say demetri storm was scene twice outside of bold urcreek -- boulder creek. these are photos of storm from earlier arrests. santa cruz county police say he could be in a black audi or a green kia. both of them were stolen in the past couple of days. investigators say last friday, storms stole a car in windsor led police on a chase. somehow he was still able to escape after a very intense day- long search. final preparations are underway for the gun show at the palace. gun shows have been very popular in recent months. that's due in part for the recent push in stricter gun laws leading to a crackdown.

california is considering a to there's a nationwide shortal of bullets -- shortage of bullets. many gun shop owners say they've never seen the supply so low and tee manned so high. the u.s. senate will begin considering new gun control legislation next week. that's after the senate voted 68-31 to move forward with the debate. that means a threatened filibuster to avoid debate won't happen. some family members are victims of the sandy hook shooting are on capitol hill urging lawmakers to pass gun control legislation. supporters say this will still be a struggle to get 60 votes on the actual gun control measures. and the san mateo county congresswoman, jackky spear, will be hosting a gun buyback

this weekend. she was shot while investigating the jonestown massacre. the gunback will happen at the courthouse. it will be lasting from -- it will be this saturday, tomorrow, at the san mateo county court house on mission road. it will last from 9:00 a.m. to noon. participants will receive $100 for handguns, shot guns and rifles. assault weapons will go for $200. funs will be accepted with no questions asked -- guns will be accepted with no questions asked. investigators in contra costa county are telling us more about a financial aid scam at the sawn pablo campus. a couple in richmond, recruiting 20 people to enroll in classes and then apply for financial aid. the couple took 25% or about $675 of the $2,775 the students received in financial aid. but those students never went

to class. criminal charges have been filed against everyone involved. well, monday is tax day. facebook employees could be facing a pretty big bill. facebook founder mark zuckerberg owes $1.1 billion in federal and state taxes. employees could be in a similar boat now that the company's gone public. if any of those workers had been counting on using profits from the facebook stock to cover their bill, they may be out of luck since the company's ipo did not do as well as expected. stock is still below $10 of the opening day price. tax professionals say employees may need to sell some of their shares if they need some cash to pay off the irs. 8:40. as soon as today, major league baseball will announce the suspensions stemming from last night's brawl involving the l.a. dodgers.

energy companies are leading stocks lower this morning. the price of oil sank 2% and major indexes are still on track to end the week with strong gains after hitting some record highs for the dow and the s&p. taking a live look at the dow, down 46. nasdaq is down 21. scotts valley high school in santa cruz county is closed today because of an unspecified threat. now, officials say the threat was posted on facebook. the high school was closed as a precaution. in east oakland we're getting an inside look at this

morning's crash. this happened about 2:00 this morning. a suspected drunk driver smashed into a tire store after hitting a fire hydrant. the owner of the fire store says it's the second time someone has knocked over the hydrant and knocked a hole in his wall. and secretary of state john kerry is in south korea and he says the rhetoric coming from north korea is unacceptable. kerry's looking for ways to reduce the tensions between north korea and south korea. we have new information about arrests following the sexual assault of a student at saratoga high school. three teenagers have been arrested after audrie pott took her life, days after someone posted a photo of the sexual assault online. the had -- the saratoga school district said our sympathies go out to all of the families affected by this tragic situation. we're cooperating with law enforcement as they continue to look into the details of this

8:54. we're following breaking news from santa cruz county. claudine wong live now to tell us about a threat that has closed down scotts valley high school. >> reporter: that's right. there will be no classes today. parents who didn't get the message are being informed as they have driven up to the campus. you can see the gates are locked and closed. you have a police officer that is stationed in front of the school. he's actually standing next to

the board president right there. the principal is also out here. they've been out here all morning long. this all developed overnight. 10:00 last night. scotts valley police department fot a call from a student -- got a call from a student say egg saw an anonymous post on facebook saying that someone was threatening to shoot up the school today. the post said anyone who shows up to school will be killed. and so at that point, the police department contacted the superintendent. the principal of the school just told me a couple of minutes ago, that she sat down with the superintendent and at 2:00 this morning, they made the decision to just cancel classes for the day just as a precaution. and so they did that. how they alerted everyone, they said they sent out an e-mail, an alert. they also alerted the student body president so they could send out a text message to all students as well. they did what they could starting at 2:00 in the morning to let everyone in the community to know the classes
