happened on story road, here is new information, janine? >> reporter: we just learned that the victim was actually shot in the back of the head originally they thought he was stabbed originally they told him this but they checked with medical staff and he is going to be okay, he is still conscious. they called 911 after hearing gunshots in the neighborhood and they heard gunshots but no victim. after about an hour they located three young men a couple of blocks away. one man had a bullet wound behind his ear and two others are being detained. they all appear to be gang members which leads investigators to believe arrival gain -- a rival gang is

involved. >> we don't know how many people are involved at this point. we spoke to them and collected evidence of the clothing and tried to find out who they belonged to and i don't believe it belongs to these players here. >> reporter: deputies are treating the two other menace witnesses and they are trying to interview them and get a clear picture of what happened. deputies described them as being in their late teens to early 20s. investigators are telling me this neighborhood is known for being rough. we did speak to neighbors in the area who were not happy to see this happen in their neighborhood and you will hear from them coming up later on in the morning news. reporting live, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 morning news. a manhasset been taken into custody after firing a shot at

a firefighter. alex savage explains what led up to this gunfire, alex? >> reporter: a firefighter was grazed by a bullet during this incident. it happened in the 1,200 block right near san pablo. the man who lived here started shooting at firefighters who responded to that medical call. he was an 88-year-old man and was taken away by paramedics shortly after we got to the scene. as the many as 20 firefighters were inside the house when that man pulled a gun and for whatever reason was shot. he only suffered a glancing wound. the firefighter was eventually

taken away without incident. >> they are not sure but they are looking into whether there was truly a medical issue and that will be part of the investigation. >> reporter: berkeley police will be doing the full investigation and at that point they will see what charges if any to be recommended and right now they are not putting out that man's name publicly. the firefighter was treated here at the scene and did not have to go to the hospital and we are told this morning he is now back on duty at the fire station. alex savage, ktvu channel 2 morning news. police are searching for a suspect who hit him with his car. it handed out side of the hp pavilion while the police officer was doing traffic

control. the police officer was trying to get away but the police officer may be driving a black four-door vehicle. and they are searching for an empty home in oakland and the fire started and they are not sure how it started but they say squatters have been known to sleep in that home. >> they are investigating the scene at this time. >> the flames caused major damage but there are no reports of any injuries. later the parents of a saratoga high school student took her own life after being sexually assaulted and her parents will speak out.

they say their daughter was sexually assaulted by three teens at a party while she was drunk and unconscious and she later took her life after the assault was posted online. the parents want the three teens involved to be tried as adults. now the said information at that time only supported misdemeanor charges of sexual battery. it took months to serve search warrants and to examine computers and cell phones. the result led to the three teens being arrested last week on felony charges. well new this morning, the federal government is ordering inspections of thousands of jets. there is anoint tail end -- a pin, in the tail end of the jets which could cause them to

break off, and it is $10,000 per plane. so far no incidents have been reported because of that potential problem. the cable cars are costing the city a lot of money because of the accidents. coming up at 6:15, we will let you know how much the city pays to settle accident claims. let's talk about the wind this morning and see if it is a affecting traffic and bridges. that's right, we have seen it -- well not seen it but tara has seen it and felt it and we are on the east shore traffic is moderately heavy and one of the good things is it blows all the clouds away. up drive well, so just be careful out there. chp has wind advisories and

coast and the system is moving through and there is not a lot of moisture with it but look for a cooler windy pattern and that wind will crank up along the coast, maybe higher elevations and that's it that's all that is left of it and it will be moving out of here pretty quickly. i know calistoga and mendocino county is there and it is a really chilly air mass is in place and it will go right down to the north and we will have a breezy windy day, cooling trend today, but believe it or not any cooler weather does not last very long. 50s and 60s on the temperatures and the warmest was antioch and gilroy, venetia 62, san rafael 62, san jose 63, same for livermore and redwood city, and

the extended outlook, temperatures will warm up and it will be darn cold out there and brisk tuesday and wednesday and sunshine and warmer weather takes to the end of the week. wall street beat expectations with its first quarter revenues and profits were up 17% from the same time last year. city credit strengthens banking business and they are up 1% in free market trading. large banks are starting to get into prepaid market driving down fees. and they are reporting they are charging a single monthly fee between 5 and seven dollars and that's much better than most prepaid debit cards after balance inquires and that adds up to $20 a month for the average user. golden gate transit users

. welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. time now 6:24, palo alto police are hoping newly released surveillance video will help catch a bank robber. investigators say he used a note and had a gun. he may have gotten away in a two door sedan and possibly a thunderbird. nine-year-old girl is hoping to raise people's awareness of child slavery with running a lemonade stand. she has worked and this stand nearly 300 days in a row. vivian was inspired after seeing boys forced to carry

joining us. we are tracking a man accused of shooting a firefighter in berkeley. here is what authorities are saying about this strange incident and the man who fired the shot, alex? >> reporter: we are still trying to figure out what the motive may have been and right now we are talking with firefighters, one firefighter was grazed by a bullet for the man who for of what reason opened fire and police say the shooter is an 88-year-old man and we watch as he was taken away for a minute tall evaluation. firefighters were taken away at 1:45 this morning. he pulled out a gun and began to fire shots in their direction. one of the firefighter was shot

but only had a wound. police surrounded the house at that point and there was a short standoff and the shooter was taken into custody peacefully but it was a nerve racking incident. >> they reported shots fired and they were able to evacuate from the hospital and like i said there was even the minor investigation and once they complete it, they will decide what if any charges they will be facing this morning the that firefighter who was phrased was treated and released, he didn't have to go to the hospital for that injury and we are talking he is back at the fire station this morning. ktvu channel 2 morning news. parents of a saratoga high

moderate on that span. bay bridge is backed out to the 808 over crossing and further than that, traffic is backed up for about a 15 minute delay. if you are on the peninsular, we have 280 traffic in very good shape driving up the peninsular, let's go to steve. mostly clear to the north, getting colder and we had a little bit of light rain overnight, not too much but favoring the coast and the bigger story will be not only the cool air but the wind visit are you, not too bad but for most, we'll some of the higher elevation. gutty winds give way to the coolest day of the week but high pressure is building to

seriously hurt. and today is the deadline for filing income taxes with the internal revenue service and 90% are expected to be filed electronically and the average refund is $2,700. it happened just a few hours ago near story road and janine de la vega was the first reporter on the scene and has been updating this story throughout the morning, janine. >> reporter: pam, we are here and authorities say this area is known for its gang activity and it appears a fight occurred early this morning and investigators are still trying to find all the players involved. it took place 3:15 when neighbors actually called 911 after hearing gunshots and deputies did a search and found

bloody clothes and gun casings but no victim. one of the men had a bullet wound behind his ear and he was taken to the hospital and investigators say two other men are being detained. all appear to be gang members which leads investigators too believe another gang is involved. >> we want this neighborhood to feel safe and it is not safe, i don't feel safe. coming out to work, i see the cops out here and i am like, wow. deputies are treating the other two menace witnesses and they are trying to get a clear look at what happened. the men are between their late teens and early 20s and they are from san jose. something else they are looking

saturday near sea ranch. the chp said the car hit a tree and burst into flames. the flames were so what the it caused -- hot it caused the car to melt on to the highway. two men with guns robbed them on campus. the victims were not hurt but the robbers did get away with cell phones, wallets and cash and one armed robber was a white manwareing a gray hoodie and the other was an african- american manwareing gray hoodie and jeans. and celebrating the sugar bowl, it happened on northstar which also closed and sunday former prime minister margaret thatcherred the last day for cross -- sunday marked the last day for cross country skiers and they are planning on shutting down and others may
