evacuated neighbors and sent a robot to investigate. one neighbor is relieved the man is under arrest. >> he said he had two bombs and two guns. i believe he has the bombs but not the guns. >> reporter: why do you believe that? >> he was explaining to the cops about the two bombs. what triggered them. >> police say no explosive devices were found. officers are waiting for a warrant to search the apartment. oakland school officials say a woman with her baby were nearly hit by gunfire today. a spokesman says before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon someone fired at two students on the sidewalk. the gun shots missed the students but hit the windshield of a car where the mother and baby were sitting. no one was hurt.

ed. a suspicious package shut down cabrillo college for hours today -- for 4 hours today. a box was found after 10:00 a.m. this morning. authorities evacuated hundreds of people as a precaution. the bomb squad blew up the package but they haven't described the contents. the campus was reopened, no one was hurt. san francisco police said today they found a 12-year-old boy who escaped from juvenile haul. he was at his mother's home. he escaped before 10:00 p.m. on tuesday night by smashing a window. tonight police are looking for the 16-year-old who was in custody for a probation violation. some california drivers pay extra for special license plates but it is possible the

the abuse happened from december 2010 to may 2011. police say the relationship began through the cell phone app words with friends. 13-year-old is the 6th suspect to be arrested in connection with the shooting death of a paramedic, quinn boyer. he was charged today, just 13 years old. also today a 16-year-old was charged with murder as an adult. he faces special circumstances to make him eligible for the death penalty. he is due in court tomorrow. those two along with four other teens are accused of killing the paramedic two weeks ago in an attempted carjacking. today marks the 107 anniversary of san francisco's 1906 earthquake but a suspicious package prompted organizers to move the ceremony

to union square. gregsan francisco police chief greg suhr said someone put a bag down and then left. authorities say in the end the bag turned out to be harmless. sirens blared at 5:11 a.m. this morning as they do every year to commemorate the earthquake. another tradition, the fire chief repainted the only working fire hydrant the way the earthquake hit. the earthquake and fire killed 3,000 people and left much of san francisco destroyed. san francisco homeowners are being ordered to address the safety risk of soft story buildings. new tonight at 6:00 p.m. ktvu's dave s with the -- david stevenson with more. >> reporter: san francisco mayor says buildings similar to this one face a deadline to

after the richmond disaster and they say they have replaced the damaged pipes. pg&e today issued a reminder about the danger of doing major construction digging without notifying them first. today's announcement follows a gas leak yesterday in which crews ruptured a gas line. it prompted evacuations. pg&e says it all could have been avoided if they had just called 811. >> this 811 program is critical to the safety of pg&e's pipeline infrastructure. in 2012 over 1500 times an excavator struck and damaged pg&e's facilities. >> for anyone who calls a pg&e crew will come out and mark the gas lines, no questions asked.
