hello, everybody. i'm beth troutman. it's a great week and we have great new videos, "right this minute." it's a really close encounter when couple meets whale. >> not just one. there are at least two of them. >> find out what happened when the boat got bumping. a tourist snapping photos gets taken out by a truck. that's the driver pulling forward with the guy still

under. >> the escape that left this man standing. a couple dudes make a microwave go boom. >> it went between their lines. a lauine for men. a close encounter of the gigantic kind. a couple on a small inflatable boat on their way to the channel islands in santa barbara, california. look who is paying them a visit. yeah, that's the whale, not just one whale, there are at least two of them around their boat. see them breaching the surface. they are super excited to be around the whales. they said they felt like the whales were really gentle around them and curious with their boat. they hung around for awhile.

watch. >> check them out. i wonder if for them seeing a boat is like whale watching for us. >> you are so rad. >> awesome, not scared at all. >> then they get a little nervous here. they are getting closer and closer to the boat. >> whoa! whoa! whoa. >> okay, maybe we should move. >> the couple said the whale actually nudged their boat. they turned the motor on and started to boat away. the whales followed for a little bit but were gentle. in all, they said it was an amazing experience. we wanted to find out more so we caught up with the couple. >> we were in a small craft. there's not a lot of boat traffic out there. >> i think it was something for them to do, to entertain themselves. we love whales and marine life. we spend a lot of time on the

water. >> my dad was a marine byologist. >> i felt more relaxed in the beginning. you could hear my voice near the end. we can't start the moe toe because injure them. >> they are extremely gentle. they came back again. did the same thing. they came back a third time. they weren't done hanging out with us. >> they are so graceful in the water. i think it was more like the fun, curiosity for them. they are really rad. texting and walking is not the only thing to be aware of. taking pictures and walking. he was taking photos. as he's distracted snapping shots -- >> oh, oh! >> oh, wow.

>> the truck runs him over. at this point, he is still under the truck. then the driver starts pulling forward. amazingly, missing the guy, not running over him at all. two people come over to the guy's aid. he manages to stand-up. he's probably banged up, a bruise or two, but he gets up. >> it's not his fault. he was taking a photo. you have to look in the rear-view mirror and see where you are going. >> didn't you think he ran over his shoulder? he hadn't, apparently. >> it was high enough, he could sit there without getting smashed. last year, i told you guys about mars one, the not-for-profit organization planning on putting the first civilization on mars. i have an update for you.

as of today, they are taking applicants for the astronauts who will take this one-way trip to mars and be the first settlers on mars. what you have to do is go online, up load a one minute video about why you would be the perfect person to be one of the first settlers on mars and to make sure people are serious, you have to pay a $25 entry fee. they are going to narrow it down to 24 individuals separated into teams of four to start the rigorous training process. the plan is to have them on mars by 2023. they hope to have a worldwide television internet phenomenon. a reality show, if you will, from the moment they take off until they land on mars. this is going to be a $6 billion

project. people want to say it's a one way ticket. it's not about getting there and back. once you have akelcclimatkelecc mars, you cannot come back. >> you become a martian. going to see a sea turtle up close would be an amazing experience. that's what happened to people vacationing. they saw a sea turtle and noticed it was favoring a fin. look at the fin. >> ahh. >> there's a hook on it. >> everyone though the sea turtles are protected, you are not supposed to touch them. they said this is an instance where we have to go in and help. they had to chase it down. she was bad. you can see her size. at first she thinks she's a little thing but she's kind of big and flapping that fin like

are you going to help me? >> poor little thing. >> wow. >> they yanked him right out of there. >> this is great. sea turtles live for a long time. >> when they took the hook off, is there video of her afterward? >> yeah. she swims away happy. she's using both fins. >> oh, yeah. an update on the viral video that shows two friends attacked brutally. why the beatdown caught on camera helped bring the bullies in. what if people crossed the street like animals. >> it would be dangerous. >> it would be hilarious,

last week i brought you guys this video from queens, new york. if you remember, this is cell

phone footage of a bullying image. you can see in this video there are several young girls physically attackingwo 14-year-old girls. they were two friends who were both attacked brutally. you will also remember a councilman in new york decided to put his office behind the investigation to make sure something was done in this case. i do have an update for you. in the new videos, you can see from a closer angle how brutal the fight was. five young girls were arrested as a result of this incident. listen to this. these girls ranged in ages from 13 years old to 15-year-o years. all now in custody because of the video. it's a video that helped police identify who needed to be

arrested. they attacked so much at once, they couldn't necessarily see what was going on. >> it's great because of these videos the girls were caught. the sad thing is they are so young. at such an early age, they now have a record or could have a record. >> you said five girls were facing charges in court. it looks like more than five girls are involved here. >> when you order popcorn's most delicious, when it's warm and fresh, right? this might be too warm for your taste. we have a vendor here. yeah, that popcorn is on fire. you can hear the glass breaking. it's the sound of corn popping. >> no, no, no. the poor vendor is trying to put it out. somebody offers a water bottle. it's not working. the fire is getting bigger. it's staying in the one container of popcorn. the worker is staying close to this thing. i have to think it's kind of

dangerous. >> my goodness. no one is rushing over to help her. that totally sucks. >> everyone is staring. >> yeah until a hero comes to the rescue. somebody with a fire extinguisher. thank goodness, comes over and puts the fire out. the vendor says hey, i have half off popcorn. you can make popcorn like this or in a microwave. a microwave is the subject of the next video. they have one in a powder. it blows up when you shoot it. i think they got what they were looking for. that is the door from the microwave shooting off. skims that dude's head. he could have been decapitated maybe. >> that is so dangerous. i'm sure they thought they were a safe distance away but that

not only cleared them, but 20 feet behind them. >> the moral of the story, use your microwave to make popcorn and both of these wouldn't have happened. very funny videos have hit the web. if humans did things like an animal. if humans crossed the street like animals -- >> it would be very dangerous. >> it would be very hilarious, actually. the first one is a squirrel. part of a confused run. >> his face is priceless, too. >> this is funny, a deer. >> the stare. >> then they slowly keep walking and take off running. the possum. of course he's going to play dead. this one is pretty awesome. a dog. >> hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. >> they like to chase those
