complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at noon. >> breaking news from san francisco, after a van plunges off a road in twin peaks. good afternoon, i am tori campbell. the dramatic accident on twin peaks is our top story this noontime. news chopper 2 brought us these pictures just in the past half- hour. you can see the dark van under that tree which smashed

into the home there. the fire department says the accident happened about 10:20 this morning. we are told three people were inside the van, one person was taken to the hospital with non- life-threatening injuries. he sent us these pictures, police told him speed may have been a factor, nobody in the home was hurt but the garage may have structural damage. the frap frap public health department says a restaurant worker has been diagnosed with tie foid fever there. anyone who ate at the cafe on those dates may be at risk. they should see a doctor if they notice symptoms such as

fever, weakness, stomach pains, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or loss of appetite. there are several developments in the boston bombings. one involves a tense scene outside a corner's office in massachusetts overnight. as you can hear several people jeered as the hearse carrying the body of tamerlan tsarnaev pulled out of the coroner's office there. the body was claimed by family members and is now in a funeral home in new jersey, it is still not clear where it will go next. meanwhile cnn reports the bombs used in the deadly attack were built in the apartment that suspect tamerlan tsarnaev shared with his wife and her child. however investigators stress it is still unclear if tsarnaev's widow played and role in the bombing plot. there is now word the 4th of

july was the original target date for the bombings. investigators say the two suspects had first planed to carry out a suicide attack on independence day, two months from now. but the date was moved up because they were able to build their bombs faster than they expected. they then reportedly changed the target to the boston marathon. just a few hours ago the parents of a contra costa county boy injured in the boston marathon bombings told their story to reporters. ktvu's john sasaki is live in martinez with the progress the boy is making and the exciting gift he got last night. good afternoon. >> reporter: three days after getting home from boston the harns met with reporters here outside city hall. they did not bring their son aron because he is home resting. but kathryn and allen harn brought good news about their seasons condition and recounted their experiences during the bombings.

two days ago we took video of him at home recovering from injuries he suffered on april 15th, that day, his 12th birthday he doctor removed staples because he has healed so well. now parents are expressing gratitude but say he still has a long way to go. >> fortunately they had enough skin to put it back together again and it has gotten better every day so right now it is a matter of trying to regain the strength he has lot and the mobility from the injury. >> he wants to go to a movie with his friends. he wants to -- he wants to hang out with his friends, he wants to get back to his sports. he wants to make sure he finishes school. he is worried about his grades. i mean, yeah, he is ready to be aron again. >> his parents say it is still unclear when he will get back to school, last night they were

guests of the warriors at the play off game and got to meet the coach and the players met him and it was exciting but wore him out, john sasaki ktvu channel 2 news. >> we are learning more about the security plans for this month's bay to breakers race in san francisco, the changes are in response to the boston marathon bombings and include extra police at muni and bart stations, police patrols at ferry terminals, fbi agents providing assistance and using portable cameras along the race route. those wind driven wildfires in southern california continue to burn this noontime and there is no sign they will be put out soon. the biggest one is the spring fire burning in ventura county, started yesterday near camarillo, cal fire says it has grown to 10,000 acres and only

10% contained, thousands of homes are threatened, 15 have been damaged. the massive fire has reached the pacific coast highway. the santa anna winds have died down in that area. but fire officials are still warning about wind blown embers. >> we are fighting fire in the coastal range where we are under the influence of a east wind. at some point, and the weather service has been varied, at some point the santa anna condition will break down and we are going to have a wind reversal. >> a second southern california wildfire, the summit fire has burned almost 3000 acres in riverside county, it is about 65% contained, the reporter william has more details from ventura county. >> reporter: the fire into its second day remains out of the control, it is a fast moving fire. why do they say that?

it has a lot of fuel and it is a wind driven fire and it is blowing 15 miles an hour, that wind in addition to blowing flames reduces the moisture content in the vegetation so it burns quickly. a lot of these native plants also have oil in them. the firefighters will want to create a fire break and use that using hand tools, a bulldozer or in many cases a road. now, this is pacific coast highway and yet the fire jumped this street earlier today over to the navel base at point mcgoo here in ventura county. they moved those, an hour ago no serious damage at the base but that change. the good news is temperatures and wind are supposed to go down, this weekend is supposed to be cooler, so firefighters are hoping to get a handle on this as the weekend progresses.

in camarillo, william log log, back to you. >> bay area teams have been sent to a fire burning east of chico in an area known as bute med douse and burned 10,000 acres and strong winds have made it hard to put out. it is only 10% contained. from structures are threatened at this time. a lot of progress overnight in a fire burning northwest of cal calastoga, it is called the yellow fire. they brought its containment up to 97%. it has burned 125 acres including grapevines owned by kendall jackson. they are keeping an eye on these fires in those areas. all those fires are contained but firefighters want to make sure there are not flare-ups

throughout the day. people in the woodside area might have noticed a flurry of firefighting activity today but it is only a drill. this cal fire helicopter landed amid a cloud of dust near piñata college. its crew is taking part in a day long drill to prepare for fighting a wild land fire in san mateo county. the exercise drew 150 fire personnel, 25 engines and five strike teams. the drill is meant to raise public awareness about the threat of wildfires in san mateo, especially after the dry winter and the recent hot weather. >> every year we talk to our residents about the possibility of a fire here in this area and we are at high risk, very high risk. the heat is here and humidity dropping daily so the threat is here and people have toned that, plus firefighters have to understand that. >> this afternoon the firefighters will conduct a small evacuation drill in a

woodside neighborhood. a woman is under arrest after a deadly wrong way head on crash in the east bay. it happened on highway 24 in lafayette early this morning. ktvu's tara moriarity joins us live from martinez with more on the suspect and the victim. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, 1 innocent person is dead and another person's life may be changed forever. she is not even out of college and held here at the jail suspected of driving under the influence and killing a pittsburgh man. the chp says annalis mckay was driving the wrong way when she slammed into this red geo metro. >> it does look like alcohol did play a role in this. drunk driving is the worst to go out there and drink and drive and user responsibility. >> witnesses say mckay was spotted driving eastbound in the westbound lanes near the st. stephens exit in her silver car around 1:30 this morning minutes before she crashed into

the victim's car just after the exit. >> it took a full impact, wheres a it ricocheted off and hit another vehicle and the person in the other vehicle was not injured. >> they say he was in the metro, on his way to work when he was struck and killed. >> she probably didn't have any idea. >> i don't think she did. >> they shut down the westbound lanes for three hours and say it was a horrific scene, the engine separated from the car and crews had to sheer the top off to pry his body up. we caught up with them taking her into the jail to be booked on felony dui. her facebook page shows she lives in brentwood, works as a barista and attends classes at diablo valley college. we tried to talk to her but she denied our request for an interview, we have a crew on the way to the victim's home and hope to learn more about

after searching for a missing 15-year-old danville police and contra costa county sheriff's deputies found her about 9:20 this morning at a home in danville. they did not reveal information about why she was there. her parents reported her missing around 6:00 last night and that was when the search began. president obama is on the second day of his visit to central america. today he told mexicans he is optimistic congress will pass immigration reform. the president spoke to hundreds of students at mexico city's national museum of anthropology and said he believes immigration laws will change giving them a path. >> that is one of the reasons i acted to lift the shadow of

deportation from what we call the dreamers. young people brought to the united states as children. and that is why i am working with our congress to pass common sense immigration reforms this year. >> right now president obama is in costa rica where she is set to meet with six central american leaders and expected to focus on the economy and drug violence. the economy added more jobs than analysts expected last month according to the report out today from the u.s. labor department. it shows employers expanding the work force by 165,000 jobs, the unemployment rate fell a 10th of a percentage point from 7.6% to 7.5%. the big gains lifting the stock market to new mile stopes, the dow jones average crossed 15,000 for the first time. it has dropped back, at 14,966,

up 134 points, the nasdaq right now is also up. it is up 36 points and the s and p broke through 1600 for the first time and still above 1600 at 1633, up 15 points. the bay planning coalition kicked off its 26th annual decision-makers conference this morning in oakland and will focus on the importance of trade in fueling the economy and creating jobs. in the opening address the oakland mayor jean kwan emphasized the importance of transportation to trade. >> we are investing in a very modern truck to rail to ship a modernization at the army base and that that is critical we are manging that investment to keep the port of oakland healthy to keep the northern california economy healthy. >> senator barbara boxer and congressman john garramendi and

they are set to speak there. police are adding extra officers for the cinco de mayo celebration, tens of thousands gather there and last year it was peaceful with fewer than 100 arrests, the 2011 celebration was marred by violence with storefronts damaged. this year police say they will be ready for any scenario. >> the officers we are deploying are going to be able to respond to many different contingencies, our hope is they are not needed their mere presence will keep the peace during the celebration. >> crowds are expected this year as in year's past gather along king road and story to jackson road. state and local politicians rallied this morning in an effort to save berkeley's main post office. they say as part of cost cutting measures the postal service plans to end operations there and sell the building. joined by state senator lonnie

a degree warmer than 24 hours ago. so right at the coast and inside the bay an onshore breeze begining to strengthen. farther inland areas like livermore are not going to feel it today. you are just as warm as we saw yesterday. it will take us into the weekend before some of our inland areas begin to feel it. and this is how it goes, so along the coastline right now half moon bay, 66, again 20 degrees cooler than yesterday, 79 oakland, a few degrees below what we saw yesterday afternoon at this time in our inland areas just as warm, upper 70s to low 80s around walnut creek, the pacific view, satellite from above watching this system here responsible for our cool down, may even bring an outside chance at some rain. i am going to show you what happens here. this system is actually going to move back to the west, which is unusual because normally we watch the storms go from west to east. but this here is going to slowly move into california as we get into saturday afternoon and then by sunday it is going to be hanging here off the

coastline. take a look what is happening. thunderstorms a pocket over areas along the sierra. we may get an outside chance at maybe a few sprinkles. you could see some here over sections of northern california, i will show you when in the extended forecast. 89 santa rosa, 86 sonoma, 84 san rafael, 7 degrees cooler now than 24 hours ago, so for san rafael, not as warm, that westerly breeze is moving into your area. 91 pleasanton, 80s there, 88 shore loon and 86 sunnyvale, the peninsula cooler, 77 san francisco this afternoon, 60s to low semis 70s along the coastline, we will not break records but well above average still at this point in many areas, take a look at the weekend, so we are cooler on saturday, we will be feeling it by tomorrow afternoon, even

as we mentioned earlier today is better than expected reports lifted the stock market to new highs, one analyst says breaking threw psychological barriers will continue to bring them in. the dow up 132, the nasdaq is also up 36, s & p up 15. the bay area could clinch the battle for super bowl 50 as early as today. this month nfl owners will decide whether the 2016 super bowl will be held at the new

49er stadium in santa clara or miami, today florida lawmakers are set to vote on the nfl's demand to spend 350 million dollars to fix up the home of the dolphins. santa clara would be a shoe in to host the super bowl if florida lawmakers reject that plan. there is a new place in the south bay where you can pick up a zip car. manetta airport is opening operations at airports around the country and targeting a different type of renter, you have to be a member but they can be rented for as little as nine dollars. according to a website oakland is the most exciting city in america. they ranked oakland as number 1 ahead of new york and san francisco, which placed third. the site determined the list based on 10 factors such as the number of bars, big box stores,
