them to city where is they had no family and friends and some of them ended up in san francisco. the governor of nevada has fired top hospital officials and has also launched an investigation. one person was injured today in a crash in san francisco's twin peeks neighborhood. a van went out of control and sparked into a hillside home on clarendon avenue. three people inside of the van were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. the van came down twins peaks boulevard, hit the curb and went airborne before slamming into the house. a wall of the home's garage was badly damaged and so was an aston martin parked inside. a city building inspector was called out to examine the damage to the building. >> the building inspector came out and told the owner of the house to contact an engineer for the structural integrity of the house at this time. >> the crash is under

investigation. however officers say speed is may be to blame. and a neighborhood was evacuated. about 12:45, they responded to calls about a suspicious person. officers detained a man in the carport of a residential building then spotted what they thought was a suspicious object or subject. officials evacuated the home and called in the bomb squad. officers gave the all clear and people were alieud back into their homes. several wildfires continue to burn tonight in california including one in the wine country that crews have finally gotten fully contained. the yellow fire has been burning in knight's valley in sonoma county. it is now 100% contained. over all that fire destroyed 125 acres of land northwest of calastoga. today crews focused on mopping up what's left of the fire in

steep terrain and heavy vegetation. firefighters also say smoke may still be visible in the area for several more days. is so called panther fire is still out of control tonight and has now burned 6,400 acres. it's burning in steep terrain, southeast of redding. we just checked with calfire they say that fire is just 10% contained. flames are being driven by gusty winds, fortunately no structures are threatened. the biggest wildfire though is burning in souther california in ventura county. as of about an hour ago, the calfire has now destroyed 18,000 acres of land and is only 20% contained. the fire is burning in steep coastal canyons and flames raced all the way to the ocean today. it's threatening homes, orchards, camps and backyards. here in the bay area, another red flag warning is

10 minutes. with fire fighters in the bay area headed with fires are we going to be left with a potential difficult situation should a fire break out here. what we were told today by calfire. the stabbing death of 8- year-old leila fowler continues to send shock waves through her community. ktvu's noelle walker there now with how authorities are reassuring the community. >> reporter: the sheriff tells me he still considers this a crime scene and that investigators will continue to go back there and collect evidence as long as they need to. >> reporter: almost a week has passed since 8-year-old leila fowler was stabbed to death in her home and still no main suspect and no arrest. >> our department will not rest until we bring this responsible person to justice. >> reporter: the daily briefings at the calaveras county are a run down of what investigators don't know yet than what they do.

offers involved in a task force chased a wanted person in oakland today. the pursuit ended near 98th where the suspect ditched his car and took off. authorities haven't said what crime the man is wanted for or released his name. there is late word from the scene that officers have wrapped up the search without finding the man. it was a good day on wall street today because of some new job numbers that came out. employers added 260,000 jobs in

april and the unemployment rate is now down to 7-1/2% and the markets really liked that number. the dow crossed 15,000 for the first time. it didn't quite stay that way. the dow closed up 142 points. the nasdaq was up 38 points. ktvu's consumer editor tom vacar tells us the stock market's success all boils down to three words. jobs, jobs, jobs. >> reporter: the mood on san francisco's streets is jobs, jobs, jobs. >> my friends are able to find jobs now. >> it's not the same way it used to be five years ago. but it's getting better. getting better little by little at least. >> reporter: it wasn't just because this month's job report was so good.

the revised job report for the last three months made investors drive the market to new all time highs. >> they revised the numbers for march and february. they reviced them up which is good by about 114,000 jobs. big round numbers moving through 15,000 on the dow. moving through 16,000 in the s & p it just feels good. >> the entire mentality of the market has shifted. >> reporter: jessica van founded the recruiting group a temporary job placement. vaughn says there's been a clear shift. >> noticing the higher volume of positions coming through the door. the me tricks and the statistics aren't at all surprising to us because we're dealing with that on a day-to- day bases. >> reporter: but we still have a long way to go until full recovery. today's new april job report may be good news for some people.

the air force said today its conducted the first successful test of the x51. this is file video and it comes from boeing. the air force has spent $300 million developing the aircraft. three previous tests have ended in failure. it's designed to deliver strikes throughout the world in a matter of minutes. kaiser permanente announced a huge infusion of cash in programs that serve children and teenagers in oakland. keiser pledged $11 million to youth children in oakland. one young man said youth uprising helped him find a job and trained to be an emt something he never thought would be possible. >> i was like, i can't be a

he's been through a lot but aaron hern's parents say he's a fighter and they're very proud of him. aaron of course is the 12-year- old from martinez who was seriously injured in the boston marathon bombings and since he arrived back home just a few days ago boy it has been quite a ride. but ktvu's john sasaki tells us his parents say there is still one thing they're worried about. >> reporter: katherine and aaron hern arrived without his son aaron. >> the he wants to get back to his sports. he wants to make sure he finishes school. he's worried about his grades. he is ready to be aaron again. >> reporter: two days ago we took this video of aaron on his 12th birthday recovering from the injuries he suffered at the

we are following eaki news, we sent news chopper 2 over the scene. this is in the 1800 block of black mountain road in hillsboro. this is just to the east of the. you see what's pulling the hose there to get on top of one of the hot spots. you see there's definitely been some damage. you can see there's been a lot of damage from this fire and fire crews certainly do appear to have this fire surrounded. again they are on top of the roof, they are also on the ground. we do see some smoke coming from the home. again this is right next to 280. so people driving on 280 may be seeing the smoke. as we get a little closer here in the pictures we can see there is smoke rising. we don't know what started the

you can see visually with the greens representing 50s. the cooler air starting to move in and infiltrate. that's the trend. it's cooling off and it will continue to cool off. there's a red flag warning that will be issue for the north bay hills. we talked about that. that's in response to the strong winds that could kick up as we get into saturday night and saturday, pardon me tonight into saturday afternoon. we'll watch that closely for you. cooler over all for the bay area weekend. the reason for the red flag warning, the reason for that chance of showers on sunday is this, that low pressure is supposed to keep going that way. but look what's happening. it's going to reto -- retrograde this way. and it also brings a chance for sprinkles to the bay area. and it also drops your temperatures. these low pressures, they usually go west to east. this may happen occasionally. this one cuts back here and we get a situation like this.

firefighter activity. there was no fire it was a drill to prepare for the real possibility of a wildfire in that county. this calfire helicopter practiced today. 150 personnel and five strike teams all are taking part of the exercise. the group also helped raise awareness of a threat of fire especially after the dry winter and recent hot weather. >> every year we talked to our residents about the possibility of wildfires here in the area. and we are at high risks. for high. the humidity is rising so the threat is here. plus firefighters have to understand it. the fire chief says wood side faces the same wood fire threat as in the santa cruz

mountains. he notes there have been big wildfires in the recent years that have forced people to flee from their homes. to help raise awareness, crews staged a one hour evacuation drill in a wood side neighborhood. a north carolina teen is upset over a picture not being allowed in the yearbook. the school allows students to bring a prop that most represents them. she brought her son. she told this picture here wasn't allowed because it promoted teen pregnancy. her mother says that her son motivated her to graduate school. >> i wouldn't be the person i am without him. today i brought my son, two days before the book was due i found out that he can't. >> reporter: school officials wouldn't comment on exactly why

tonight. the springs fire near camario along highway 101 in ventura county has already consumed 10,000 acres. firefighters are battling hot dry conditions and fierce winds are fueling those flames. officials say 15 homes have been destroyed and thousands of others are now threatened. new evacuations announced last night for thousands from their homes. the fire is only 10% contained. the panther fire has grown to 1,600 acres. that fire is burning in steep rugged terrain so firefighters are counting on helicopters to stop the flames. the yellow fire northwest of calastoga is now fully contained. that fire started wednesday morning and calfire says crews reached full containment this morning. crews will likely stay
