manning as the pride festival. >> reporter: it was a very ruckus meeting. the board did not many of the protesters inside or any protesters inside or any press. that decision only fueled the demonstrators fury. >> shame, shame shame on pride. shame, shame, shame on pride. >> reporter: this hall way is as far as protesters got to deliver a message to the pride board of directors. >> no cameras at a public meeting. >> as per their request. >> reporter: the request of who? >> the board. >> reporter: the board was meeting up upstairs. the board said the protest was to not have bradley manning as

the chair. the man who released secret documents to wikil eaks. >> if you really wanted to listen, why did you block the protesters and press. >> well there's a different decision for that. >> reporter: the protesters aren't buying it and they don't accept the organizations apology. >> they should do more than apologize for that. they should rescind their error of slandering and going against the electoral process. >> reporter: manning was on the ballot which they say it's now a mistake because he's not a local leader. >> those members of the pride board did so because of a moral conviction that he should be

recognized. the pride board invalidated that. heather holmes, ktvu news. now to ktvu news continuing coverage of that limousine fire that claimed five lives. we now know the identities of all of the victims. 39-year-old nerissa fojas. 39-year-old jenny bowin lives in dublin and had two children. ana aquintar and and felomina garoga. all of the women in that limo shared a common bond. >> reporter: family and friends say they have lots of questions of how the horrific event could have happened while they wait

for answers they're struggling with their peace. from the philippines, her mother looked through a photo album. she says nerissa had wished her an early happy mother's day. nerissa had planned to celebrate her wedding in her native philippineless. her father says, we're all hurt. she was a child. also grief stricken, anna's family. her family shared with us this last photo of alkuintara. she took her family's cell phone and snapped a photo of herself to give to him as he was dropping her off saturday night. the family is trying to make sense of what happened. >> there is anger that we're feeling. but we don't know what that is.

we don't know, we don't understand how this thing could happen. if somebody is responsible for what had happened. all of those we will have to wait. >> reporter: relatives say the 46-year-old alquintara realized a lifelong dream, she became a nurse in oakland to care for elderly patients. all nine women in that women shared a bond and worked in health care. >> she enjoyed it. she enjoyed being a nurse and helping people. she was the greatest person you could ever meet. her goal in life is to help others. alquintara leaves behind a 14- year-old son and 8-year-old daughter. they plan to hold a funeral on saturday. they say they're still working on the plans.

the funeral caught on fire on the berkeley bridge which made it difficult for first re responders to get here. >> a vehicle fire west of the high rise. before the vehicle fire limo with possible entrampment. >> people trapped. one limo heavily engulfed. there's a limo on the west side of the high rise as well. and we have report of people trapped. >> people involved, limo. five inside. >> reporter: the limo driver has said he doesn't think there was a fire extinguisher in the vehicle and current law does not require limos to carry fire extinguishers. jerry hill says he will introduce a bill next week requiring fire extinguishers in limousines? >> the strategy has received

it's also being followed in the philippines. >> we reached out to them and to their relatives that we are ready to assist them in whatever way we can. >> reporter: the deputy general says they're still waiting from the final word from relatives about if and when the victim's remains will be returned to the philippines. eric rasmussen. stay with the 10:00 news in 14 minutes. our interview with the husband of another victim and he describes the loss their 14- year-old is feeling. traffic is moving smoothly on the golden gate bridge tonight after newly laid asphalt started crumbling today. the chp closed the southbound lanes for a time this afternoon. and at one point traffic in both directions was stopped so crews could make emergency

repairs. they say overnight repaving work unexpectedly began to unravel during the morning commute. >> as vehicles were traveling on that new asphalt it was actually picking up some of that fresh asphalt and kicking it up, causing it to get spread on if roadway as well as on the sidewalks. a golden gate bridge spokesperson says the emergency repairs are now complete and the original construction project is scheduled to resume tonight at 11:00. we are expecting an update tomorrow on those unresolved issues with the broke bolts on the bridge. today california governor jerry brown -- the strike is set to begin on may 17.

the workers are upset over pay, benefits and patient care. this will be their ninth strike in the past 20 months. the hospitals include alta base in both berkeley castro valley, san leandro hospital and sutter delta in antioch. replacement workers will be hired and the hospitals will remain fully stocked. dozens of the uc workers are ready to go on strike. including uc san francisco. the union has 13,000 members and represents vocational nurses, technicians, custodians, cooks, gardeners and other workers. staffing levels and pension reform are two of the disputed issues. >> on wall street, the dow set another record closing above the 15,000 mark for the first time ever.

dirtiest of the energy that's produced by pg & e or whoever is supplying it and replaces it with clean energy. >> reporter: but some are worried about nanny government requiring people to go green. >> i would like to see the ordnance changed and remove the word mandatory to voluntary. >> reporter: sometimes there needs to be laws to encourage safety. like seat belts. >> our county and state but lead our nation in a progressive value. >> reporter: but it wasn't a progressive city to lead the charge. lancaster approved a similar ordnance about a month ago. >> we're one of the most progressive towns in the state. they're one of the most conservative towns in the state. it really shows that this isn't a political issue, this is an issue about the economy and about climate change. >> reporter: the ordnance will take effect on july 21st and this solar idea is sweeping

california. by 2020 all new homes built in california will be required to use solar power. live in sobasta pool, ken wayne. tonight it appears contra costa county will lose two more fire stations due to budget problems. and another unnamed station in january. the contra costa county fire chief says the station closure should save the district $3 million. in the past six months the district has closed down three other stations. well a 25-foot buffer zone is now required around the entrances to reproductive health clinics such as planned parenthood in san francisco. the supervisor behind the legislation says it is the right balance between the activists free speech rights and the rights of the patients to be free from harassment.

these are two pictures of the man who police say robbed the dsw shoe store on steven's creek. he posed as a subcontractor and forced the store manager to open the safe. they say he got away with an undisclosed amount of money. he was last seen in a white car that uld be a toyota prius. now to the three women that went missing 10 years ago in ohio, questions are being raised. what is being said about the investigation. >> reporter: a cleveland neighborhood was picked apart tuesday evening as investigators dug for clues into the disappearances of three women. all were found alive on monday. amanda barry, gina de jesus and amanda knight disappeared between 2000 and 2004 in separate abductions.

their ordeal came to an end on monday after a neighbor heard one of their screams. >> she said help me out, i've been in here for a long time. >> i've been kidnapped and i've been missing for 10 years, and i'm free, i'm here now. >> reporter: police say they believe the young child, amanda barry brought with her out of the house is her daughter. police have arrested the homeowner ariel castro and his brothers pedro and o'neil. the brothers say they never had any indication anything was going inside the house. >> all the people that live in that building have a perfect scene of the backyard. they reported that there were three guys out there with naked women doing bodily harm.

>> reporter: investigators will likely be here for several days. at the same time we're still waiting for the suspects to be charged. in cleveland. meanwhile, dugard and her mother are in washington, d.c. tonight where dugard is being honored for her work supporting kidnapped victims. dugard was held captive for 18 years near antioch before she was finally rescued in 2009. >> i want to say what an amazing time to be talking about hope, with everything that's happening. another miracle happened yesterday and three girls are alive. and i feel the same relief and joy that i felt when jayce was

returned to me safely after 18 he'llish years. >> reporter: dugard's mother says her family is still grieving the loss of their years apart. she also thinks there's more miracles out there waiting to happen. as for jaycee dugard has this message, the abuse that happened is not their fault, it's just what happened to them. friends and father -- friends and family attended a funeral for leila fowler. leila was found stabbed to death in her home. no arrests have been made but today investigators returned to the neighborhood to look for witnesses. these are the highs recorded today by the national weather service. we had clouds out there and a little bit of sunshine and lots of low 70s and mid-70s. as we go into tomorrow. we've got a lot of clouds to

today delaware became the 11th state to allow same-sex marriages. the senators signed legislation legalizing same sex marriage minutes after the senate approved it. minnesota is expected to become the 12th state when it's house of representatives votes on the matter thursday. both airline workers and passengers are urging the transportation security administration not to allow people to carry small knives on planes. yesterday nine groups filed a legal petition with the tsa and department of homeland security to prevent that from happening. in march, the tsa announced that passengers could bring small knives and sporting equipment like hockey sticks on the planes beginning april 25th. but the policy was then postponed in order to gather more input from the airline

industry and law enforcement. united airline has set may 20th for the dream liner flight since the jets were grounded back in january. it'll be a flight from houston to chicago. all of boeing's new 787s were grounded because of lithium oin batteries who have since been revamped. the man accused of opening fire in a colorado theater killing 12 people last year is now preparing to change his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity. a judge had previously entered a not guilty for james holmes. but holmes attorney says they intend to ask for a plea change at a hearing next monday. holmes would be sent to a mental facility and evaluated to determine whether he was insane at the time of the july 20th shootings. prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. the chp held a memorial service for all of the officers

lost on duty. >> officer kenyian mark younstrom. >> reporter: officer kenyan youngstrom was on duty. today an officer who knew him remembered his friend fondly. >> kenyan was a, he was an outstanding officer. someone who we all wanted to be like. he was a great great dad. he was a good husband and he was a man of god. >> 37-year-old kenyan youngstrom was from solano county. a group of retired judges will determine that three people will share a reward. the reward is a collection of donations from numerous groups

and individuals. it was initially offered for capture and conviction of christopher dorner. he killed himself during a stand off. dorner went on the run after he was identifyed in the slaying of a couple. the return of those three missing ohio women is giving them hope their daughters will return to them. mccayla garrett vanished blocks from her hayward home back in 1988. and steve lamar's 15-year-old daughter sierra was kidnapped in march of last year. parents of both believe they can be reunited. >> thinking about our kids, sierra and hoping that we can have that same kind of scenario some day. >> as easily as they can be taken in a day they can come home in a day and that's what i'm hoping for. >> reporter: mccayla's mother says she has become more optimistic over time that her daughter is still alive.

she says she hopes to hear mccayla's voice on the phone one day saying she is alive. a south carolina republican completed a political come back inspite of a sex scandal. mike sanford won the election for his old congressional seat. four years ago sanford's reputation was tarnished when he lied about being on the appalachian trail when he was really in venezuela. after a hearing from the public into the early morning hours, the pleasanthill city council voted to allow demolition of a theater to go ahead. it is all ready for the wrecking ball now. supporters say their next step would be legal and they are

developing news now from east oakland now where one man was shot and killed at about 9:00 tonight. dozens of shots were fired. we spotted at least 52 evidence markers in the middle of the street at melrose and 50th avenue. police say the victim was driven to highland hospital and pronounced dead. invest -- investigators could be seen interviewing several people outside of the hospital. with weddings, graduations and proms all on the schedule, limousines are on high demand. but the fire of a limousine on a bridge now has seniors giving it a second thought. >> it's like all the thing of

the seniors together. our last big moment before we graduate. >> reporter: but after the limousine fire on the bridge they took a step back. >> you're always concerned if you're going to be safe and make it through the night. but i have high confidence that we will because last year for prom we took a bus and everything went so smoothly. >> reporter: they reserved a vehicle, a bus similar to these to take 50 students to the ball at san francisco's matrion. just like the five women headed to a party. >> something that was supposed to be a happy occasion that turned disastrous. >> reporter: the limo fire prompted a mother to rethink the limousine ride. >> i called the company and they said their mainnance was up to date. >> reporter: mark corti says he encouraging parents to be

involved with the renting of limousines. in 2010 five people died in limo accidents. in 2011 there was a jump as 20 people died in those types of accidents. u.s. secretary of state john kerry met with john putin talks about syria. the u.s. wants russia to take a tougher stance with syria amidst a deteriorating situation there. they agreed to try to convenience an international conference on the two year civil war. in mexico, a truck hauling two natural gas tankers lost control on a busy highway crashed and exploded. more than a dozen homes right next to the highway also caught fire at least 22 people were killed three dozen others were injuredded. accidents involving heavy trucks are quite common in mexico where poor neighborhoods

spring up just feet from major roads. an unexpected eruption of an active volcano. five hikers were killed in the explosion of rocks and ash. about two dozen others had to be rescued. the mayon volcano is popular with tourists. officials say they will enforce a ban on climbers in the immediate zone around that volcano. new jersey governor chris christie says he's lost weight after under going secret weight loss surgery and he dismissed that it was because of political reasons. >> if i would have been asked about it i would have told you about it. but it's nobody's business but mine. >> reporter: christie says all the attention about his weight is silly when there's so many other more important issues. in two minutes. >> the new 49ers stadium in santa clara could have an official name by tomorrow.

hold a news conference tomorrow in san francisco to announce a naming rights deal and with it possibly the company's new name for the stadium. >> i think it's very exciting to find out who's going to get the right to call it their stadium. and what the fans all over the united states are going to be calling our brand new stadium. >> reporter: city officials have continually said the money will be a big part of the financing package. officials will not discuss the announcement or what company will be handed the naming rights. but the san francisco based levi's strauss company is the front runner. fueled by the company to obtain the rights of naming it levi field. and levi is still a top if not top choice. many fans have been hearing that for months. >> the possibility of having a

long time history team will be great. >> in santa clara, robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. the waiting game is under way today the bay area super bowl bid committee submitted its proposal. according to the committee the bid im -- emphasizes the new stadium as well as the bay. the public's public utilities commission says it will take two weeks to repair a large sinkhole that we showed you last night. the sink hole opened up and is now delaying traffic. it was caused by a broken

sewer line. a gourmet company called tibors gourmet are recalling sausage. the sausage is being recalled because it was not federally inspected. they were produced between march 25 and may 2. clouds around today. temperatures in the mid-70s. i'm still tracking storms. as it leaves thins thin -- things are going to start to move out. fire danger dropped quite a bit. lightning strikes didn't help but with the moisture in the air, temperatures have come down. we had a little less than a week ago we had air quality

three years ago. so far there are no signs of a bad outbreak this year but they are bracing for a possible resurgence this summer. whooping cough may seem like a bad cough but could be deadly for infants. tanning beds could soon come with warning labels. recent studies have shown that the risk of melanoma the deadliest type of skin cancer is 70% higher. the agency said it will take comments on its proposal for 90 days before releasing its final regulation. how about those san francisco sharks. >> yeah, they pulled it off. a little history. you know on their way to hopefully some big stuff. sharks have never had a play off series sweep prior to this. a little something else they've never had too. a stanley cup. and they did take a nice step toward that goal. polishes off the canucks four straight. it was by no means as easy as
