>> reporter: leila fowler was stabbed multiple times at her home more than two weeks ago. her brother said an intruder did it. >> we had our suspicions the whole time. it is horrible to see something like that. >> a neighbor says the intruder story fell apart. >> two hours after the sheriff came here they had dogs trying to get a scent. couldn't get a scent. >> her dog barks at strangers constantly and it was quiet that day. >> no screams. no nothing. dogs did about bark. >> reporter: she seen the brother walking up and down the road. >> it hurts. you know, you got a 12-year-old kid, his life is ruined. you know, plain and simple. >> reporter: the district attorney hasn't yet received the case from the sheriff's

monitor developing news. part of interstate 80 is shut down. this began with a chase. the chp was chasing a bmw. the driver of the car lost control and slammed into workers on the side of interstate 80. the workers were hurt, the driver of the car was killed. right now westbound traffic is being diverted and officials say it will remain closed while the chp investigates. occupy the farm protesters are regrouping as bulldozers raised their farm on university of california at berkeley land. ktvu's jade hernandez is live with more. >> reporter: interesting developments. this started as a quiet meeting with 70 protesters. you can see they have just in

the past few minutes crossed over into the university of california at berkeley land. 4 arrests were made today when they refused to leave and now they made a statement for the university of california at berkeley police that are out here tonight. i want to show you, risdicates are not -- residents are not happy with the activists. you are a resident, why are you upset? >> because of the lack of democracy in the city. our residents voted to have this property developed and these people keep coming on to the land and they are not law- abiding citizens. they don't want to do it the democratic way. >> thank you. there was an officer who told

the protesters if they staid on the land they face fines and arrests. university of california at berkeley police made four arrests this morning after they crossed and planted and created the garden. spokesperson said this land will be used for development, development that is scheduled to begin in january. we will continue -- to -- to develop this situation. as soon as we get more information we will bring that to you. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. a jury convicted a man from berkeley for the 2009 shooting of a teen. a 17-year-old was shot in front of his home. he was convicted today of first degree murder with special circumstances. prosecutors say he admitted to

two people that he shot. but his attorney said another man there was the one who pulled the trigger. he is facing life in prison without the possibility of patrol. today doctors upgraded the condition of one of the victims of the limo fire on the san mateo bridge. her condition has improved from fair to good. she was among four women who survived when the limo went up in flames. five other women died. the women were celebrated a newly wed friend. dozens of volunteers are trying to find an autistic 9- year-old girl who was last seen over the weekend. ktvu's noelle walker is in clear lake where police updated us on the search. >> we talked to the police chief. i want to show you the flyers that are being posted.

this is mikaela lynch. she is 9 years old. went missing 9 years old. let's look around here to give you a sense of what is happening here. one of the vehicles they have been eupusing in the search. part of the command -- using in the search. part of the command post. professional volunteers coming out here to help. take look look at mikaela lynch's picture. she was not wearing clothes at the time she went missing. plus her age, 9 years old. she was last seen playing in her yard playing with her brother. here is what the police chief had to say. >> there is indications of maybe where she was last located from scent dogs but nothing to indicate where.

ground. residents have abandon that subdivision. we spoke with one homeowner who started noticing something was wrong, he says his home sunk 10- 12 feet. >> we love this house. this was our dream house. became a nightmare. >> officials say they don't know what is causing the unstable ground but a rise in underground water is playing a role. it is unlikely insurance will cover the damage. the restart of the power plant could be delayed. today a commission board ruled in favor of a environmental group that wants a hearing on the restart plan. it is unclear how it will effect the proposal but an appeal is also possible. the delay will anow for a review of the plan.
