alto. 16-yold is deinjured. ktvu janine de la vega is on the way to the scene and she'll have a live report coming up at 5:00. we're also following breaking news in the oakland hills this morning where crews are on the scene of a brush fire. tara moriarty is on skyline boulevard right near the space and science center. tara. >> reporter: about three acres have burned so far. we have just received word they do have the fire contained. that is good news. we are being kept a mile from where crews are definitely battles the flames. here's a look at some exclusive video that we have of the fire. we arrived just as crews were pulling hoses. someone in the area smelled smoke and called 911. apparently it took crews awhile to find the flames. this is a two-alarm fire. as least two dozen crews are on scene. the fire broke out just before

1:00 this morning. it's in a remote wooded area where there are no homes and not close to my road either. we are told there are trails and sometimes people will illegally camp there. there is evidence that campers were in the area so that could be the source of the firepan arson investigate -- source of the fire but an arson investigator is on the e scene. hand crew from cal fire should be arriving in half an hour. and the wind isn't too bad. you can feel it and not helping the situation obviously the hot weather. this is supposed to be the hottest day of the week. miami tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. we are following developing news out of marin county. that started shortly before 1:00 this morning. sed major damage ill roes c

garage. there are no reports though fortunately of any injuries at this point ktvu alex savidge is on the scene right now and he's going to have a live report in our next half hour. we also have new information about the woman arrested on suspicion of arson in martinez. this is our first look at the suspect. 48-year-old julie of concord. police say she was seen using a lighter to ignite dry grass. she was allegedly high on drugs and fought with officers injuries one of them. here's the damage police say she caused. the flames threatened homes in pleasant hill. wind pushed the fire across steep slopes and dry grass. firefighters actually called for a ten engine response. the helicopter dropped watt and a plane dropped fire retar dent.

>> it's terrifying. >> the 90 minute fire held the fire to 15 acres. police say the officer hurt during the struggling suffered injuries to his leg and was take ton the hospital but will be okay. tenpenny was arrested for being under the influence and arson. in the chaos of the fire as neighbors were hosing the areas around their property, a herd of goats had to be rounded up and moved out of harms way. coming up how the neighborhood came together to save these animals. over night a fire destroyed an old pier in san francisco. the 100-foot pier is at the end of 23rd street. firefighters say it hasn't been used in decades. they called in a fire boat fight the flames. >> the chp is investigating a deadly overnight crash in a remote area of west marin county. it happened early this morning.

this is just on petaluma road outside of petaluma. investigators say the driver of a white pickup truck drove off the road and crashed into a tree. the truck then burst into flames. the driver was pronounced dead on the scene. it's still not clear what lead up to that accident. one person is dead. 21 others injured after severe storms across the midwest. this is video of a tornado that touched down in kansas. many homes were damaged near wichita's mid continental airport. more than two dozen tornadoes are reported in illinois, oklahoma, and iowa bringing large amounts of hail and severe thunderstorms. a mobile home park in oklahoma suffered some of the worst damage. take a look at that. 79-year-old man was found dead in that rubble. most of the homes and buildings in that community are completely destroyed. a helicopter pilot for a local news station described what is

was left of the town. >> everything was just gone. you see beds in the yard. it's like you took the house and put it in a blender and turned it on pulse and then dumped it out. >> oklahoma's governor declared a state of emergency for 16 counties. there is expected to be more severe weather across the midwest today. time is 4:35. san francisco police are investigate ration frightening fall that took place during a party after the bay to breakers race. it happened around 3:30 yesterday afternoon on fell street. a 28-year-old man is listed in critical condition after falling several stories from the roof of a building. >> we had about six people on the roof. one man accidentally fell from the roof. fell about three to four stories down from the sidewalk. and he was very seriously injured. >> police have not released the injured man's name or details about the accident.

this is the most serious incident at san francisco's first public event. police had security at the bay to breakers race. some of the security measures included under cover police officers and running gear mixed with the runners. and there were bomb sniffing dogs along the race route. and large backpacks were also banned. police report only a shorthandful of minor problems. typical of any bay to breakers race. police arrested 23 people mostly for being drunk in public. a coach is facing battery charges following his arrest over the weekend. cedric walker is a defensive coordinator. he's accused of punching an executive of the jacksonville sharks after saturday night's game in florida. they say the incident was

fueled by racial threats directed at san jose coaches. united airlines first dream liner flight landed in chicago this morningen the airline plans to use its dream liner on domestic flights and then it will restart international flights between denver and tokyo on june 10th. later this morning ed lee will announce airport improvement projects. it will credit thousands of jobs over the next ten years. the mayor will talk about the plan at 11:00 this morning. the plan will be presented to the airport commission tomorrow. time now 4:37. thousands of steel pendants on the skyway bridge may be at risk of significant corrosion. engineers discovered in 2016 that ducts containing the tendons were left unsealed. that means rain and fougade have allowed them if to rust

and fail. now in a statement from the public information officer for the bay bridge, this issue does not effect the safety, strength, or the life span of the skyway. but a uc berkeley engineering professor says cal trans used the wrong test for corrosion and the results are meaningless. corrosion may be a factor in the failure of 32 seismic rods last month. they have posted a video on youtube with more information on how it's handling this problem. >> a lot of issue there. time now 4:38. monday's they are always rough. >> it is rough. >> hopefully traffic won't be too bad. >> at least we are starting off okay guys. we don't have a lot going on which is good. traffic does look food on the east shore freeway if you are

up. that brings tears to your eyes. this morning a family in berkeley is celebrating a military home coming that came during a gymnastic's competition. major jake was away from his family for five months after deploying to africa and for the past two days he's been on a covert mission to surprise his daughter. >> we had dreamed of it. emma kept saying she imagined just kept imagining him being here. but i said he's either the world's greatest liar or he's not coming. >> this is the first time he ever performed in a competition. the unclaimed remains of 35 bay area military veterans will be buried with military honors. for 52 years they have been add santa rosa memorial park waiting to be claimed by family

the 60s. yet there is santa rosa 51. you are seeing a 20-degree spread. that north breeze is here today and today only. most locations are in the 50s. for many it's still a cool morning. system will be tigging way out of the north. for us very unusual unseasonally for this time of year. it will start this time tomorrow. sunny and warmest day by awhile. and maybe for a long time. temperatures will go from warm to hot to cool and very breezy and windy. sunny and warmer today. we're seeing 70s and 80s today. some of the higher elevations. turning cooler on tuesday. we'll see a good 10-15-degree plunge and 20 degrees by wednesday into thursday to wipe out the fog. it will be sunny.

only a tiny bit warmer. 4:50 is the time. drivers commuting to san francisco may one day have to pay the toll plus another fee. the san francisco examiner reports transit officials are considering charging drivers a $3 congestion fee to enter the city. it could reduce traffic and pollution. the fee could generate $50-$60 million a year for the city. the new reward being offered to help police track down the suspects. the man hunt for a killer. what authorities are looking for after a ten-year-old girl was shot to death while watching television.

police are offering a reward up to $2,000 in each shooting for information that leads to an arrest. police are look for two men who shot and killed a young girl who was watching television inside her home near sacramento. the ten-year-old girl and her parents were inside their north highlands' home when a gunman walked up to the front door and started shooting. at least one dozen shots were fired. the girl's parents are expected to survive. they do not think the shooting was random. in benicia a man was killed after drying the wrong way for nine miles. it happened around 8:00 last night. the chp says the driver who was under the influence of drugs and alcohol got on to highway 80 going in the wrong direction. he then transferred to 680 still going the wrong way and crashed head on into a hummer. he died at the scene. the driver of the hummer is >>students are
