tomorrow. >> big changes. today is the warmest day. we have a north winds in place. there is lows near the coast that are near 40-degrees others in the 70s. it will be clear. it will be sunny coast, bay, and inland. more on the big change in seven minutes. good morning northbound 101 the traffic approaching the 80 split not bad. it's a nice looking drive there. if you are driving to the bay bridge, traffic will be busy at the toll plaza but the metering lights are not on yet. we have an update on the breaking news from east palo alto. three teenagers was shot, one of them has died. those bullets hit more than just the cars of the victims. >> reporter: that is right. so many bullets were fired. if you look behind me you can see this white nissan max ma behind me on top of that tow truck. that is where the victims were sitting.

bullets didn't just hit that car, it hit another car parked in a driveway. it also hit a house narrowly missing someone inside. as far as that white nissan goes it's already being looked at by detectives but it's about to be towed away and processed for evidence. police say their shot spotter activated and when officers arrived they found the driver of that white nissan dead in the driver's seat. he was shot multiple times. now his two friends a 15 and 16- year-old were both inside the home. that is where officers found them suffering from gunshot wounds. they are expected to survive. there was also a fourth teenager in the car. they told detectives they just dropped off a friend at the house. they were waiting for him to come back to the car and they said two men approached their car on foot and opened fire. >> there was definitely no

communication between the suspect and the the victims were just hit by the car. the was running. >> reporter: police say witnesses told them that two gunmen were seen running away. they have a vague description of just two latino males that jumped into a waiting gray sedan. they still need to do two other victims with victims. east palo alto has had this recent spike in violence. it's unknown if the shootings at all are connected to this one. police are still investigating. we will stay on this case and bring you more as it becomes available. reporting live janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. we have developing news. in the past hour cal fire has joined the response to an a fire in the oakland hills. that started just before 1:00

this morning. we have been showing you off of skyline boulevard. this is right near the science center in redwood regional park. ktvu obtained this exclusive video. oakland firefighters were investigating the smell of smoke. they found the fire down a trail. about three acres of trees, grass, and brush have burned but crews were on the scene speculating that illegal campers in the woods may have sparked that fire. a fire investigator is now looking into the area of origin. >> it took us an hour and a half to get hose lines around it. it's pretty thick brush around there. >> now cal fire is helping oakland firefighters to mop up that fire by checking out hot spots to make sure they don't flair back up again. we are also learning more information about a big house fire in the hills above kentfield. that starletted early this

morning as welled in kent woodlands area. ktvu alex savidge joins us now from the home where more on how that fire may have started. >> reporter: good morning. a battalion chief told me a few minutes ago that this family that lived in this home was barbecuing last night and so investigators right now are looking into whether some of the hot coals may have sparked this huge fire at this very large home. this place is 3500 square feet. this fire spread there much of the house and burned through the garage. where this '66 mustang was. this fire broke out around 2:00 this morning. flames were pouring from this home which is on the 100 block of good hill road. the battalion chief here on scene tells me an elderly woman 95 years old was at home at the time along with her adult son and wife. they did notice this fire and

managed to get out unhurt. the fire quickly grew in size. that is why the fire department had to call in resources from several neighboring agencies. >> once the fire is knocked down we go through the house and move the possessions of the family so that there is no damage to those. we limit the damage to those. that takes quite a few people to do that. >> reporter: much of this home was badly damaged. and there was a guest house that was also destroyed. the battalion chief said they will look out whether the back queue played a role in the fire. you see how destructive the fire was. you can see part of this roof collapsed here during the fire fight early this morning. crews will remain on scene here

for the next couple of hours making sure that all the hot spots are out throughout this home. live this morning in kentfield. alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. also in overnight news the chp is investigating a deadly crash in the remote area of west marin county. that happened early this morning on point rays petaluma road. that is just outside of petaluma. investigators say the driver of that pickup truck drove off the road and crashed into the tree. the truck then burst into flames. the driver was pronounced dead at the scene but it's not clear what lead up toth accident. time now 6:07. tornadoes and storms in the midwest left at least one person dead, 21 hurt and a lot of damage. this is in wichita, kansas. that tornado caught on video as it touched down. it damaged homes near the airport. more than two dozen tornadoes hit parts of illinois, opened,

and iowa. a mobile home park in oklahoma had some of the worst damage. look at this. the body of a 79-year-old man was found in that rubble there. most of the homes and the buildings in the community are destroyed. a helicopter pilot describes what he saw. >> everything was just gone. you see like beds in the yard. you took the house and put it in a gigantic blender and turned it on pulse and then you dumped it out. >> a state of emergency has been declared for 16 counties in oklahoma and more severe weather is expected in the midwest today. the senate judiciary committee may move one step closer to passing a landmark immigration bill today. committee members will meet to increase the number of visa's for high-tech workers. companies have been lobbying to change language that would give the labor department more oversight of hiring practices.

they will also try to work out a compromise on whether gay americans should have the right to -- the irs scandal also a hot topic. high school. driving across the peninsula hasn't been a bad commute. the traffic looks good heading out to the high-rise. there are no major problems if you are heading out to the high- rise or on the dumbarton bridge the same thing goes to east palo alto. bay bridge toll plaza is filling in. the metering lights have been turned on. people are out there early today. there are no major problems in san jose and the south bay. northbound 17 that traffic looks very nice. now to steph. thank you. interesting low temps.

i was look at san jose temperature partly sunny 49. san martin 48. yet some of the higher elevations it's 65 degrees. there is very cool readings for some and very warm for others. north and east bay hills seem to take the brunt of it. higher fire danger today only. after today things really change. very strong system that is going to drop in at least for this time of year. coming down out of the yukon. that will show itself tomorrow and be here for seven days. today we have hot conditions. and temperatures will be warming up coast bay and inland. although there is very low 40s. 70s en80s and 90 -- 70s and 80s and 90s with that high fire danger. so sunny today. warm to hot. and with that north wind. if you don't get that breeze, it still looks like 80s more

for a firefighter in a massive condo fire. we've been on the story since 4:45 this morning. look at these live pictures. firefighter was able to radio for help about two hours ago saying he was trapped in that building. they haven't been able to reach him since. again they are searching. at least five people who lived there have been rescued. one person was treated for smoke inhalation. we'll keep you posted. we are finding out about the woman suspected of arson. 48-year-old julie of concord was seen using a lighter to ignite dry grass along a hillside late yesterday afternoon. reportedly she was high on drugs. and fought with police officers injuring one of them. the flames threatened homes near pleasant hill. firefighters called for a ten engine response to it. the helicopters dropped water, the plane dropped fire retar

dent, homeowners packed up in case they needed to evacuate quickly. new this morning at least 70 people have been killed in a wave of car bombings in iraq. the attacks targeted markets and crowded bus stops in shiite neighborhoods. the bombings have raised fears of o return to the wide spread sectarian violence that once brought iraq to the brink of civil war. also new this morning north korea has fired its sixth short range missile in three days. two of the missiles were fired this morning. both were fired into the sea off north korea's east coast. now tensions have been rising between north and south korea since february. time now 6:16. this morning republicans are demanding answers about when the white house learned that the irs had been targeting conservative groups including the tea party.

ktvu kyla campbell is in our washington, d.c. there were to explain who is expected to testify in hearing ons capitol hill. >> reporter: just over 24 hours from now the senate finance committee will get its chance to question the two most recenting acting commissioners of the irs. steven miller receives for the second time in five days. they questioned him on friday. today we will also hear about from doggish man. he was the acting commissioner last year when he testified before congress that the irs was not targeting conservative groups. lawmaker also want the white house to reveal which officials found out about at audit of the irs before the media reported it. >> officials at the treasury knew about this a year ago. officials at the irs knew about it for two years.

congress has been trying to get answers for two years. >> reporter: many republicans are not buying president obama's claims that he was not aware of the audit until the media reported it. how this scandal is effecting his approval rating when i see you next hour. time now 6:17. assistant coach for the san jose saber cats is facing battery charges after being arrested over the weekend. cedric walker is defensive coordinator at san jose arena football league. he's accused of roughing up an executive of the san jose sharks. that incident was fueled by quote alleged racial remarks directed at san jose coaches. warrior star stephen curry will given the key to san francisco. they will declare tuesday golden state warriors day in san francisco and curry will be getting the key to the city during a ceremony at city hall.

the higher elevations. 70s and 80s and 90s. today will be the last day i say warmer for awhile. it seems to be kind of you know localized. 70s and 80s to near 90 degrees. and again if you get that north wind definitely on the warm side. tomorrow we start a cooling trend. we have a big cooling trend that kicks in on wednesday. it will be sunny, breezy and cool all the way into the weekend. there is a new report of three more suicides at the fox con fractly in hawaii -- factory in china. the suicides all happen in the last three weeks and raised questions about living and working conditions at the factory. gas prices in the bay area up three cents in the last week. if you didn't notice the $4.06 a gallon. san francisco drivers are

paying $4.14. compare that to minneapolis where prices have hit a record $4.27. that is up 48-cents a gallon. they blame several problems at midwestern refineries for that price hike. in just a couple hours governor jerry brown goes back to his alma mater in berkeley. they will deliver the commencement address to political science graduates at 9:00 this morning. among other things they will be talking about his vision for california during that speech at the greek theater. the governor by the way graduated from uc berkeley in 1961. 6:22 is the time right now. elderly man robbed, beaten, and left for dead. the question police are asking behind this mysterious tragedy. also a photo opportunity like no other. the discovery in a colorado neighborhood that had people calling the fire department for help. s of happiness.

to be tranquilized to lower down from a rope. an 83-year-old man is fighting for his life after being robbed and beaten near an antioch hardware store. at 5:30 saturday evening, officers responded to a call of a robbery on lone tree way. they found an elderly man bleeding and unconscious. so far police say there are to word on any suspect or what was taken in the robbery. disabled drivers in san francisco may be forced to start pay agent parking meters. a committee is recommending the change. coming up at 6:36 the reason the committee wants to put a stop to free parking. time now 6:26. let's check in with sal. how is the commute so far this monday morning? >> it looks okay. we haven't had a lot going on. when we do have crashes they seem to clear to the shoulder.

outside. this is the car he was sitting in. this is a car in the driveway. the car was parked out on the street. his father has identified him as 16-year-old jose a junior at wood side high school in redwood city. this shooting happened just before 11:00 last night. police say their shot spotter was activated when they arrived. they found the driver of that white nissan dead. he was shot multiple times. his two friends were 15 and 16 years old. they were passengers. they ran into the home. they are suffering from gunshot wounds. they are expected to survive. they told detectives that they dropped off a friend at the

house on fretum street. they were waiting for him to come back out when two men approached their car and started opening fire. here is what detective sergeant told us about the suspects. >> possibly two hispanic males were last seen running down the street. in this direction. in a westbound direction. and possibly sinking into an awaiting vehicle described as a silver gray sedan. >> reporter: it is too early to tell if this is gang related. police don't have a motive. when we spoke to the victim's father he said his son was not a gang member at all and he is completely numb that this has happened. the son was a good boy and this may have been a case of mistaken identity because the car his son was driving was not his car. and you will hear from that father coming up later on mornings on 2. reporting live from east palo alto janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:32.

developing news right now. an early morning fire on the oakland hills is under control. now investigators are busy looking for the cause. ktvu obtained this exclusive video you see of the flames just hours ago. tara moriarty has new information on who was seen in the area when that fire started. tara. >> reporter: the arson investigator just arrived on scene. we spoke to one firefighter who told us they had a little trouble locating at fire at first. and when they did arrive in the area they noticed a group of kids who appeared to be students were coming out of the woods and they pointed them in the direction of the fire. pretty late at night. pretty early in the morning. so they weren't really sure why the kids were there. now if you take a look behind hind me you can see the road is still blocked off here. it is closed down on part of skyline boulevard. this is the exclusive video we have of the fire.

someone in the area smelled smoke and called 911. we're in the 10,000 block of skyline near the chabot space and science center. and two dozen firefighters were on scene. the fire started in a remote wooded area full of poison oak. about 600 feet off the road but really not close to any homes. campers are known to use the area illegally. >> it took us approximately an hour and a half to get hose lines around it. it's a pretty thick brush. pretty significant amount of poison oak. >> now the wind isn't really that bad. you can feel it it is blowing here. but not helping the situation obviously the hot weather. it is supposed to be the hottest day of the week with temperatures in the 80s. as we mentioned right now crews are clearing brush. just making sure all of the hot spots are out. live in the oakland hills i'm tara moriarty. time is 6:34. over night a fire in san francisco destroyed an old

peer. it's one at the end of 23rd street. hasn't been used in decades. fire boat fought those flames from the water. the battalion chief told ktvu he thinks homeless people may have started the fire by accident. in bah inertia man was killed by driving the wrong way. the accident happened at about 8:00 last fight on northbound interstate 680 near marsh view road. the chp says the driver who surround the influence of drugs and alcohol got on to highway 80 in suisun city heading in the wrong direction. he then transferred to 680 still going the wrong way and crashed head on into a hummer. he died at the scene. the driver of the hummer is expected to be okay. disabled parking is a mixed subject especially for many in san francisco. it's meant to help those who need it. some feel it's being abused.

brian flores is in san francisco this morning with a new idea that disabled drivers should start feeding the meters. brian. >> reporter: hi, pam. nothing is set in stone but for a topic like this it's definitely a talker. there could be changes on the horizon. we are off turk street here in the city's financial district. this is one of the areas that computers see -- that commuters see an abuse of disabled plaquers. they spoke in front of the transportation agency and actually recommended that the rules be changed for what could be allowed for those with disabled plaquers. people with blue cannot only park in designated blue zones but also gives them a person to park in metered spaces for an unlimited time. according to the committee 1800 plaquers are confiscated every

year. some of them use it illegally to park for hours. there is talk of disabling metered zones. there is challenges that need to be met. especially at the state level. coming up at mornings on 2 we will talk about those challenges up ahead and talk to commuters. we're live in san francisco i'm brian flores ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:36. yahoo is spending more than $1 billion to buy the social americaing site called tumbler. yahoo plans to spend $1.1 billion in cash for tumbling. that would make it the biggest deal since marissa meyer took over. yahoo released a statement and it says i'm quoting per the agreement and our promise not to screw it up, tumbler will be independently operated as a separate business. and five minutes into trading and right now yahoo's stock is

crews say an elderly woman were home. >> the woman from next door says our house is on fire call 911 which is what i did. and came out and saw a wall of flames about 15-20 feet high. >> the beatle onchief tells me there is nothing to indicate this fire is suspicious. most of the home badly damaged. and there was a guest house out back. it took crews a good half hour to knock down this fire and the next door neighbor was worried about the flames spreading to his place. if you bring me back out here live he is showing the side of this home. he used this garden hose for a short time to spray water on the fire until he realized the

fire was too large. live this morning in kentfield. thousands of steel tendons may be coo roading. engineers spotted ducts were left unsealed. rain and fog could have caused the ducts to rust and corrode. they tested 1600 and found half had rust but says only a few had small amounts of corrosion. the public information says this does not effect the safety, strength, or life span of the skyway. however, uc berkeley engineering professor says cal tran used the wrong tests for corrosion and its results are meaningless. croaks may be also be in the fail your of 32,000 safety rods. it reportedly has more information on the way they are
