music review to mill valley last december. the booking manager seemed surprised to hear the allegations and told me his dealings with edwards were pretty standard. the same can't be said for the $21 million plus bail. a source in the contra costa county attorney's office -- it allows officers akan arrest while they are collecting evidence. we know the district attorney will likely file charges on tuesday. in the news room, noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. a palo alto man is said to be extradited after the fbi says he killed four family members and then fled to the united states. 20-year-old kevin dahlgren was arrested yesterday after getting off a plane near washington, d.c. the czech justice ministry said that dahlgren killed his aunt and uncle and their two sons in their home.

dahlgren had been visiting the family for the last few weeks. a third suspect in a triple homicide last february has pleaded not guilty. 65-year-old francis dwyer along with two others is accused of reugted killing of three people inside a home in forestville. dwyer faces three counts of murder and one count each of burglary, conspiracy to possess marijuana for sale and conspiracy to sell or transport marijuana. continuing coverage now on growing safety concerns surrounding the bay bridge. we're learning the eastern span of the bridge has a design similar to the bridge that collapsed after being hit by a truck up in washington state last night. david stevenson joins us with why both bridges are considered functionally obsolete but we're being told the bay bridge is safe. >> reporter: the investigation into the washington state bridge collapse has just begun. cal trans officials are talking

with officials in washington state and they're inspecting bridges, certain bridges here in the california state to prevent a similar accident. cal trans officials tell us they're talking with washington state transportation investigators about the possible cause of the i-5 bridge collapse. >> we know that the bridge was hit by a truck carrying an oversized load. what exactly caused the chain of events to occur, they're still investigating. >> reporter: cal trans is dispatching crews to check the measurements of some of the bridges. >> any bridge in california that has an overhead clearance of less than 15 and a half feet, we double checking to make sure all the bridges have the proper signage. >> reporter: engineers say it's a signature move because many -- significant move because many bridges were build with a clearance height of about 14 feet. >> it's hard to modify something like this and create more vertical space. >> reporter: an engineer

aging bridges. you can find it under hot topics. an elderly cyclist was hit by a school bus in the south bay. crash happened just after 2:00 this afternoon. the chp says the 82-year-old cyclist's legs were stuck under the bus. none of the students or the bus driver was hurt. in hercules, firefighters race to put out a grass fire that burned dangerously close to several homes. paul chambers ask here with how that fire also shed light on a bigger issue going on there in contra costa county. >> reporter: thankfully for this family the fire didn't reach their home. they were planning to have a graduation party in the backyard. as you can see, the fire destroyed their deck. >> got real close. >> reporter: kenneth shows us how dangerously close the flames came to his home. >> got close. >> reporter: contra costa

county fire district says around 11:45 this morning they got a 911 call for a grass fire. carson wasn't at home but is thankful to his neighbors for their efforts to help save everyone's home. >> his relative was spraying the water. as much as they can. trying to keep the flames down the hill. >> reporter: fire officials were able to get things under control. for those in the area who saw the fire station shut down last year due to budget cuts. >> reporter: this particular location -- >> this is about equally located between the two fire stations. normally we'd have two engine companies responding from those stations. >> reporter: in all, west county lost two fire stations. still had to serve 100,000 residents. officials say the fire danger is really high and the season started two months earlier than

people up in northern california are cleaning up after an earthquake last night. you see what happened there. it knocked things right off of store shelves and caused other damage as well. it was a magnitude 5.7 quake. it was centered near lake almanor. it was felt in sacramento, reading, reno, even in the bay

area. new at 6, elder financial abuse totaling more than $1 million. those are the accusations a bay area banker faced today in a courtroom. mike mibach with how this case is now crossing state lines. >> reporter: that's right. we found another alleged victim, not in the bay area. instead in the state of oregon. we did so on a day when linda foss entered a plea in court. didn't 112. >> it's tough being in jail. >> reporter: the attorney says his client is a 62-year-old east bay banker facing a stack of charges. >> we're trying to work it out with the da. >> the district attorney's office takes elder financial abuse very seriously. >> reporter: my request to get the camera into the hearing denied three times. -- >> i've seen dirty work happen.

set for june 27th. live tonight in oakland, mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. the head of the northern california tea party says she has seen an increasing number of threats toward her group since it announced plans to sue the irs. >> it accelerates at times. usually when we put on rallies i'll get nasty e-mails. they're always untraceable or phone messages onour answering machine. >> the norcal tea party patriots says the irs violated its rights. the irs has admitted to conducting added investigations of conserve tiff groups that were seeking tax exemption. a committee decided to put 144 bills on the shelf. measures requiring condoms for adult film actor and a 10% tax on bullet sales. the state senate put dozens of bills on hold yesterday.
