accused of stealing in another string of brazen robberies. pg & e launched its fight against a the utility commission. in a filing today, pg & e said it has accepted full responsibility for the blast which killed eight people and seriously injured many more. but pg & e also said that the fine was excessive and that any fine should be deducted from system upgrades. the city of san bruno called the filing deeply disappointing. and accused the personal and corporate responsibility for the disaster. the city also said it is not going to let pg & e off the hook. a former high school football coach is in jail tonight with his bail set at a

homicide of the year. 19-year-old christopher lama was arrested tuesday. police say he attacked 36-year- old demetrius porter at a parking lot. investigators say the men didn't appear to know each e r. out the motive behind the attack. a southern california woman is trying to stay eight years in prison for kidnapping her granddaughter in contra costa county. last month a judge found her guilty of a 2011 kidnapping of her then nine month granddaughter. gallegos took a taxi back to her home and then pretended that the child was hers. but her friends were suspicious and called police and the child was reunited with her parents the next day. we now know what caused the fast moving grass fire at hercules today that caused a fire.

fire officials say caltranss workers were mowing the grass on the hillside when the mower came in contact with the rock causing a spark starting the 2- acre fire. several homes were evacuated. crews brought e under control within two hours. people cleaned up from the mess left from a moderate earthquake that some say didn't really feel moderate at all. the 5.7 quake hit at about 8:45 last night near greenville but was felt as far away as sacramento, san francisco and oregon. people near the epicenter say the quake was one of the worse they've ever had. the quake knocked things off of shelves, brought pictures down even wrecked some chimneys. fortunately no one was hurt. fortunately at 10:45, keep on the look out. why scientists are asking park rangers near where that earthquake struck to keep their eyes open especially during the holiday weekend. now to our continuing coverage of that bridge collapse along i5 up in washington state. tonight the investigation is focused on a key piece of video

showing a truck slowed bumping against the frame work of the bridge moments before it plunged into the river. reporter lee stoner joining us now with reports from that video. >> reporter: 24 hours after this happened nothing has changed at the scene here. behind me this mangled mess. investigators spent every moment of daylight trying to figure out how to get this mess out of the river. surveillance video shows the collision was so powerful the bridge buckled in a matter of seconds. >> we shared it with the bridge patrol. and we were here until midnight allowing them to view the video. >> reporter: trapping two cars and three people inside them. >> just doesn't make any sense or how why it would happen. >> reporter: agents flew in from dallas and washington, d.c. joining the washington state patrol and the coast

ktvu channel 2 news. san francisco's medical examiner identified the bicyclists killed yesterday. he collided with the back of a garbage truck yesterday morning in south van nuys avenue. the resident had just moved to san francisco two weeks ago to start an apprenticeship as an electrician. 27-year-old bo rasmussen was last seen last sunday at noon after finishing the race. he told his friends he was headed to the beach. rasmussen's phone, credit card and passport were also found near by. tomorrow morning volunteers will be searching ocean beach, golden gate park and surrounding neighborhoods for anything that may help them find rasmussen. a truck careened and ended

up in someone's backyard. police say the woman driving the pickup truck suffered a medical emergency and suddenly accelerated. the truck went up toa ditch, up an enbankment and slam into a home. the car fully engulfed in flames stopped traffic this aofpb on this -- this afternoon on friday. the driver managed to escape without being hurt. two lanes of traffic were blocked until about 2:00 p.m. that backed up vehicles for miles. bay area officers will be out in force looking as always for drunk drivers. drives can expect dui checkpoints in san pablo, in concord tomorrow night and on oakley on sunday night. patrols will be out all weekend and the highway patrol is deploying all available

burglary and vehicular evading arrest for that high speed chase. reporting livein petaluma, deborah villalon. police seen in this picture demanded cash from a teller. he got away with an unknown amount of money just after noon. the suspect was wearing a plaid shirt, dark pants and sunglasses. a teenager died after being on life support. the shooting took place on may tenth. no arrest had been made. police are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest. students have heavy hearts after the sudden death of a classmate and friend.

they're leaving notes about ahmir kakamar. ahmir was a wrestler. he was only 18 years old. doctors said he had massive bleeding in his brain however at this point the not exactly sure why. ahmir and his family came to this country less than two years ago from -- trying to make a better life. police served a warrant early this morning in incorporated santa clara county. they arrested nicholas yukich. they found 48 assault rifles, shotguns and and guns in the home. they also said they discovered high capacity magazines and more than 50,000 round of ammunition. in news of the world tonight in afghanistan. six taliban fighters attack the united nations aid agency.

black smoke poured out of the engine of a british airways jet as it came in for an emergency landing. about eight minutes into a flight to norway passengers said they heard loud popping noises then the cover was actually blown off. passengers and crews evacuated down slides. three people suffered minor injuries at this point it's still not clear what caused the problems in that plane now back to the coverage of

the all ages event celebrates the lgbt community includes entertainment and of course all of the parks rides. tonight's headliners were wendy williams and also the actor who plays a transgender teen on the hit show glee. it's a good night for romance with not just a full moon but a super moon. a ktvu camera caught these pictures in livermore tonight as the moon shown at full size. the super moon comes within 90% of the closest range to earth. tonight's appearance is 17,000 miles closer than usual and it's the first super moon of the year. an even closer moon is expected in june but it'll happen at about 4:30 in the morning. it's been mild out there, it's going to continue mild right through the weekend with a chance of showers toward the end. the weather system staying to the north of us. you kind of see the green. a few sprinkles. that activity is going to work it way south as we head into
