told to evacuate were not allowed back in the building. within the last hour, mountain view police tell us that a pressure cooker was found right inside of this bamboo. a neighbor reported it and police immediately came to the building they said they weren't taking any chances. >> what comes to mind immediately is probably the boston marathon the tragedy that happened back east. and we would like to avoid that here. >> reporter: mountain view police called the bomb squad around six -- 6:00 this evening shortly after the report. authorities found the treasure cooker empty. you will remember boston bombers used a pressure cooker in the attack that killed six and injured hundreds. >> i'm 100 miles from home, i'm from napa valley. my dog was in the car and they

were concerned that i was going to try to go back to my car and get the dog. which i was trying to do. >> reporter: and the woman you heard from told us police did get her dog out of the car. dog carrier and all and she was grateful for them for the precaution and also to have her dog back. caramel is located at san antonio and fayett eville park. police have let everyone back into the apartment complex and the shopping center. also in the south bay tonight, san jose police are interviewing witnessing of a shooting that killed two

people. and we're hearing from a witness that the shooting involved two teenagers. we're looking at live pictures from east san jose where this shooting took place. it happened shortly at 6:30. police say they found two male victims with gunshot wounds. one died at the scene, the other at the hospital. a neighbor talked about what her husband saw right after the shooting. >> we heard three gunshots. and there's a little boy running down the street in the parking lot with a gun. and there was another little boy with him on a bike, that's all we know. >> reporter: she says one of the victims was a good friend of her sons and comes over to her house every day. she says that victim was just 15 years old. she also doesn't believe they were connected with a gang. a 36-year-old san mateo woman is dead and her husband is in critical condition after a car crash involving a party bus early this morning on

highway 101 in buehrleing game. the woman has not been identified but raul padilla was drinking before the crash. their car hit the center divide on highway 101 around 2:00 this morning. spun around and collided with a party bus head on. they and 18 people in the party bus were taken to the hospital. >> reporter: coming up in 10 minutes the one part of the bay area where the chp is paying extra attention. the family of a missing young man with a severe brain injury is hoping technology will help find him. eric rasmussen explains how a phone call before the man disappeared in san francisco can help investigators -- despite the fog, the search for sean city continued in san francisco today. city's family says national park service life guards were expected to search the shore

side by boat. volunteers had already covered the area for three days. cell towers placeed the young man in this part of the city shortly after his last phone call with his dad on tuesday. >> i asked him at are you doing. he said i'm going to the park. then he said i have to go. here's the bus. >> reporter: claude sidi says his son had been visiting his old high school. when his father tried to call him back tuesday afternoon the phone was dead. >> but when the phone went dead and he couldn't get ahold of him. immediately we thought something is wrong. >> reporter: adding to his parent's concerns. sidi is still recovering from a severe brain injury suffered after a fall in november. >> he's a real sharp kid. everything is fine but it's just that he is really fragile at the moment. a severe blow to the head can

the fire started at two units at the shelter hill apartments at about 3:00 this morning. a mill valley sheriff department crew says the crews faced challenges just getting to the fire. >> accessing the area was difficult. the units had to go down several flights of stairs. >> reporter: everyone was allowed back in their apartments at about 5:00 this morning. no one was hurt. investigators are looking for the cause of a house fire that killed the homeowner and its pets. neighbors say they woke up to cries for help. one man ran, tried to pull the woman to safety through a broken window but the roof partially collapsed and he wasn't able to save her.

firefighters say the smoke detector did not have a working battery. now to our coverage of the disaster in oklahoma where thousands of people gather for a memorial and prayer service this evening. they remembered the victims of the deadly tornado and also shared their stories of survival. >> they started screaming and my teacher assistant started praying and i just kept singing louder and louder. and debris started falling everywhere around us. and the dirt started gumming in and then it turned black. >> reporter: 24 people including nine children were killed in the tornado. tomorrow the people of moore plan to pause marking one week since that tornado hit. today president obama toured the devastation and met with storm survivors and first responders. he reassured the residents of

oklahoma that they have the power of the nation behind them. >> we're going to be there as shelter to the storm. when we say we have your back i promise you we keep our word. the federal government has already approved 3-1/2 million dollars in aid and oklahoma's governor says she will remain in contact with the president. >> this is going to be ongoing for quite a long time. >> reporter: so far more than 4,200 people have applied for federal disaster assistance. pg & e crews are working right now to restore power to hundreds of san francisco residents. a series of fires on utility poles caused the outages. this was one on london and russia street. firefighters say they responded to nine similar fires last night. drizzle in san francisco last night combined with dust in the

scene with guns. in other news tonight while the chp continues to investigate a crash involving an alleged drunk drive. authorities are trying to prevent more crashes. >> reporter: this is holiday traffic and a collision due in part to a back up of beachgoers on u.s. 101 this afternoon. it was one of several crashes today in marin county where the chp maximum enforcement is in full task. >> we had very few fatalities

which was very rare. >> reporter: no deadly crashes in marin county but statewide a dozen people have lost their lives in crashes since friday night and in the bay area the number stands at two. that includes this morning's deadly crash in which this red honda was hit head on on 101 by a party bus. the passenger in the honda died and there's evidence the driver had been drinking. despite this crash the chp says dui incidents are down. 826 drivers have been arrested statewide for dui this holiday weekend down from 845 over the same period last year. in the bay area, 117 people had been arrested for dui compared to 136 last year. the chp says dui enforcement is a major goal this weekend but their efforts is about more than that. >> don't be distracted and wear your seat belts. those are the really big ones we're trying to educate people

on. a truck rammed into a house in oakland today leaving the driver shaken and the house damaged. the accident happened a little after 6:00 on mcarthur boulevard near enus avenue. a passenger in the truck told our camera man the driver in the truck swerved to avoid an accident and hit e. th a capsized tail boat off the coast of alameda had to be towed. according to the coast guard the boat capsized, righted itself and capsized again all because of the high winds today. the boat was towed to shore. only one person was on board and there were no injuries. in solano county a highway patrol crew helped locate a boat. the catamaran capsized. two people were clinging to that boat and a third was actually standing on top. they were all wearing life jackets but they were in the water for about 45 minutes.

so they were brought to the hospital for cold water exposure. firefighters tackled a fire at a homeless camp this afternoon in san jose. the fire was reported at about 4:00 at 750 north king road. it burned along a creek bed in a bushy area. it's not clear what started the fire but there was evidence of a homeless encampment where the fire was burning? -z police in vacaville are investigating a stabbing at a festival last night that left two people hospitalized including a teenager. a 16-year-old and his uncle were attacked at a downtown parking lot at the fiesta festival. both victims are expected to recover. the stabbing was likely gang related so far they haven't made any arrests. now to our continuing coverage of the collapse of that bridge in washington state. today the ntsb released these

pictures of the damage. the state plans to install temporary spans while the temporary bridge is built. it's hoped the temporary spans will be in place by june. the truck that hit the bridge was 15 feet nineinchs tall. there was no sign indicating that clearance and it's not everyone required by law. and the transportation commission decides whether to open the new span of the bay bridge on labor day weekend as currently scheduled. 32 rods have been cracked prompting some concern. the new span is seismically safer than the old bridge. governor jerry brown has said the bridge will not open before it's ready and is keeping a close eye on the development.

>> a center medium is expected to be in place on the golden gate bridge by 2014. the decision and construction bid documents are being finalized. the concrete and steel barrier will help prevent potentially deadly head on police. the project is expected to cost $46 million with the majority of that funding coming from a federal grant. organizers of san francisco's gay pride parade announce plans of holding a public meeting to prevent grand marshal status for bradley manning. ktvu was the only crew there when demonstrators became angry. the meeting was abruptly kept short with a only a few people allowed to make comments. a new meeting is set for friday

at 6:30 at the metropolitan community church. a lot of generous supporters stepped up. the famous mission district carnival did what it has done for 30 years today, entertain excited crowds. >> reporter: with colorful costumes carefully choreographed dance moves and a pulsating rhythm, the carnival walked through the streets of the mission as hundreds of people cheered on the performers. yamelet brought her two daughters from stockton. >> for our people. and because it's a nice show of culture. >> what do you think about the costumes? do you like it? >> pretty. >> reporter: more than 30 floats took part in the parade and dancers from across the bay area put on quite a show.

the death toll from flash floods in texas rose to three today when rescuers found the body of a teenager swept away by a swollen creek. they found his body earlier this evening after a day of intense searching. almost 10-inches of rain fell in the area. the other two victims were women stranded in their cars. one was on a roof when she was swept away. the threat of more rain and flooding continued throughout the day. although water levels were dropping. there's new information tonight about one of the men arrested for the brutal killing of a british soldier. this video shows one of the suspects a tall man on the
