. developing news, investigation into a terrible tragic accident that claimed several lives. good afternoon, i am torii campbell, police are on the scene of a carson where the car -- scene of a car accident where the car was literally

split in two. >> reporter: you can see the police tape across hillside boulevard and for the record, it was a mustang, one of do cars involved in the collision that killed three people. we have a still photo of the car which appears to have been cut in two. police are releasing the names of the three people killed but there is a 4th person who apparently did not stay at the scene. >> there were four occupants in the vehicle and at this time we are not releasing the names of the family members -- we are not releasing the names until we release the names to the family members. >> reporter: police are not saying if they are searching for that person. this all happened near san hill road and police are not giving

any details only that it's under investigation and they have not released the names or ages of the victims and relatives of the owner of the mustang have come by but have not heard anything from police either. we are back live on hillside boulevard and it remains closed and willcl the foreseeable future. reporting live channel 2 news. chp has a maximum number of officers out looking foinfluenc this weekend. police statewide began setting up checkpoints aimed at trying to find intoxicated drives. they have fewer than the 136 during the same time period last year. the number of dui arrests is also lower statewide. a san mateo woman killed in a crash on highway 101 has been

identified as an nationally known performer. the san francisco based review identifies her as 36-year-old sarah klein who performed under the name sparklely devil. her husband collided head-on with a party bus and the husband is in critical condition and eight of the 18 people on this bus had moderate to minor injuries. san jose detectives have been working around the clock after three people were shot and killed and the victims were a young father and two teenage boys. janine de la vega joins us from san jose where she spoke to a neighbor and heard one of the victim's last words, good afternoon, janeane. >> reporter: it was gut wrenching when that good samaritan tried to help. they were trying find the three persons responsible for these

three homicide. >> i was holding the man in my arms and i wanted to help. >> reporter: he wanted to help but just after 10:00 last night he ran outside after hearing yelling and three gunshots. >> i was looking for a gunman, i didn't see any and i knew there was a victim and i saw somebody and i ran over to the guy and i asked him, do you believe in god and he said yes, i told him to keep breathing, he was convulsing. >> reporter: he spent the night interviewing am witnesses and it is unknown what the motive is. it happened a block away from the high school. >> you just done think of something like that happening in your neighborhood so it is a little bit scary. >> reporter: police say two boys who were 15 and 17 years old were killed just off of

jackson avenue. a separate team of detectives are investigating that shooting and one neighbor said she knew one of the victims. >> he is a nice boy, really nice sweet, he hangs out with my son every day and they go places and talk to girls all the time on the phone. >> reporter: police do not know if the two shootings are connected or if they are gang related. he said he is shaken after what he has witnessed. >> i am humble and i feel really bad for that guy's family because he told me he had a daughter and that's one of the words he was able to utter out before he passed away. >> they had 16 homicides at this same time and these homicides are over the weekend and bring this year's total to 19 so we have seen a slight increase. janine de la vega channel 2 news. two teens are in the hospital this afternoon after a

crash that happened at 2:45 on white road in san jose. the teens were inside this toyota dam are you when the -- camry when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree. they used the jaws of life to rescue the teens who were trapped inside the car. >> emergency sponsors had to cut the tree and use the jaws of life to reach the two teens trapped inside the car. police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the accident. well, the end of may does not look like the end of may it looks like late february, early march, a combination of high clouds and light rain off and on mainly in the bay, up to lake county and from forestville and santa rosa,

korean war recipients and this is a ceremony that is dedicated to him. >> reporter: hundreds are at vintage park with the army band. this is the 145th year that they have honored the fallen at the san francisco park in the press sid yes. >> today is a special day to honor our fellow veterans and understand here to thank those who came before us. >> reporter: this is the end of the korean war which more than 50,000 americans lost their lives. bill moore former photographer was there. >> i was there, it was a cold war, it was still as far north

moriarty, channel 2 news. and other memorial day observances, people gathered across the park and orchestras played patriotic songs and the color guard closed it with a wreathe to be laid at veterans memorial plaza. we are live at the coliseum where the battle of the bay is back and under this long weekend, they talk about a heated rivalry. he has details for you in just a couple of minutes and what police are doing, they are doing a door to door search for the suspects. stay tuned for more.

are. crews in washington state began to clean up the river when a bridge collapsed last week. two cars plunged into the water and three people were hurt. washington's governor announced a temporary span will be installed in about three weeks and the ntsb is investigating the collapse. the transportation commission is deciding whether or not to open the new span of

the bay bridge on labor day weekend. the scheduled opening could be delayed because of problems with bolts. 32 seismic safety rods have cracked prompting concerns. they are looking being for whoever attacked a homeless man, about 5:00 a.m. a man walking by found the victim on morris street between bryant and harrison. it appears he was struck in the back of the head and he was taken to san francisco general where he underwent surgery. police are looking for surveillance video which might show the attack. residents can breathe a sigh of relief. they found the man with a gun and this is video of police taking the suspect into custody this morning after searching a neighborhood for hours. police were looking for a man accused of pointing a man at a security guard and then leading

them on a chase. the man got away and police called off the search and then they got a call from an owner of a donut shop about a man banging on his windows. >> he said no get out. >> reporter: the man at the donut shop was checked out by paramedics and is now being questioned by police. battle of the bay is about to pitch the as against the giants in oakland where fans are anticipating a fun game, both teams are doing well, brian. >> yes, battle of the bay whatever you want to call it, fans were looking forward to this rivalry for about a year now. >> reporter: fans have been pouring in since 8:00 and with just less than an hour before game time, fans are excited for this rivalry.

now since this morning, fans have been lighting up the barbecues pretty good food by the way and also having fun with this rivalry and the rivalry has gotten more intense. a's are behind in the al west with arizona and today being arizona there will be special ceremonies and a moment of silence and the first pitch will be thrown out by dale b who is an iraqi war veteran and they agree, this is the best rivalry in baseball. >> you know what, it is about the battle of the bay and giants baby. .. >> living in san francisco is tough because i am a huge oakland a's fan and i am surrounded by giants' fans. >> reporter: even though there is extra rivalry there are cops

out here and they have led parking orders to park in parking spots instead of finding parking wherever they wanted. they are trying to accommodate as much parking as possible. >> i think it caused more problems. people park where they want to park. that is why -- i thought it caused more problems but we are here and it is all good >> with all the problems we have been having, this is all good and that's all that matters. that's all that matters right now.
