rob? >> reporter: hillside remains close as investigators are still on the scene. tonight the driver of one of the cars is in custody facing vehicular manslaughter after an accident that left three people dead. >> reporter: there isn't much left of this car cut in two during a horrific accident. it happened after 7:30 a.m. this morning. the car crashed into another car. the three passengers died at the scene. they are identified as jonathan jade mouton, raul valdes and rosa maria falla. >> the car reended the green -- rear ended the green car. the green car hit a wall. split the vehicle in two and

ejecting them. >> reporter: no one was injured in the other car. police discovered the driver left the scene and they put out an alert for paul diaz, the driver. paul diaz later surrendered to police. he faces three counts of vehicular manslaughter and hit and run. friends and relatives came by the scene all day. the car belonged to rosa maria falla. one of the victims. police are waiting reports on paul diaz. he is expected in court later this week. reporting live, rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. two teens are in the hospital after the car they were in slammed into a tree in san jose. the crash happened before 3:00 a.m. investigators say the boy and girl both 17 years old were trapped inside the car. firefighters had to use the jaws of life to riskee them.

speed may have -- rescue them. speed may have been a factor. >> faster than the speed limit. >> police say the driverb is in itical condition. the passenger was -- driver is in critical condition and the passengers was released. a deadly crash on the peninsula yesterday. the woman was a burlesque performer. authorities say sarah klein was killed in the accident early yesterday on highway 101. her husband was driving the car. he is in critical condition tonight. the crash involved a party bus, 10 people in that vehicle suffered injuries. friends say sarah klein was a performer who also wrote about burlesque. five people died on bay area roads this memorial day weekend. this is one of the maximum enforcement periods. today the chp released arrest numbers between friday and this

morning. the california highway patrol says 1133 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. that is down from last year, when 1161 were arrested. police in san jose continue to investigate two shootings that killed three people in less than 4 hours. in the first shooting, 6:30 last night, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were both killed in san jose. then after 10:00 a man was shot and killed in south san jose. a woman who lives near the scene where the teens were killed says she hasn't seen anything like this in her 15 years in the neighborhood and from now on she will be more careful. >> my grandson is 9, he visits with me. i am always telling him to go outside, now i am leery. >> last night's killings were

the 17, 18 and 19 of the year in san jose. at this point no arrests have been made and police don't know if the shootings are related. police are studying surveillance video after someone opened fire in a costo parking lot yesterday afternoon. someone fired shots at 315 at the costo on davis street. by the time officers arrived the victim and the shooter left the scene. bullets hit a car and there is surveillance video that may help in the case. whether to issue a 45 day moratorium on new smoke shops. there are 12 smoke shop ins antioch. a report found a number of complaints involving the shops and they say they are a magnet for crime. some residents say they present a health concern. >> some people are smokers out
