that's american ingenuity to find new roads. ♪ the 2013 volt. charge ahead of the rest in the hov lane. ♪ >> reporter: we're live in san francisco where three people are arrested after a triple shooting near the b.a.r.t. station in the mission district. we'll tell you what we've learned about weapons recovered. there are some wet roads out there this morning, but a dramatic change in our weather is on the way. thousands in southern california, evacuated from the path of this wildfire. what firefighters are saying about the constantly changing

affected. we're relative humiditying 580 as an -- we're relative humiditying 580 as an alternate -- we're recommending 580 as an alternate. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal? three people have been shot. tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: two people are expected to survive. one is fighting for his life. right now, san francisco police are trying to get some information. there is a camera and one here on the corner of 16th and mission. police are hoping they will reveal more about what unfolded here just before 4:00 this morning. more than ten shops were fired, a -- shots were fired, according to police. all three men were taken by ambulance to san francisco general hospital. police arrived within one minute of the 911 call. there was on officer on patrol right around the corner.

when police arrived, they found an african-american man in his 40s, surning from a gunshot wound to each leg. >> -- suffering from a gunshot wound to each leg. >> we were trying to get medical aid to the victims shot on the ground. we were trying to maintain the crime scene sand the witnesses, we don't want to -- and the witnesses, we don't want to lose them. >> reporter: police have found a gun tossed out the suspect's car window in the bayview district at the corner of fitzgerald and ingalls. three blocks away, police pursued the suspect's black station wagon and the suspect crashed into parked cars. when they reversed, they rammed into a patrol car. that officer is not seriously hurt. he has a sore back but is expected to be fine. police just sent us an e-mail saying two more guns were found in the car. the three people arrested are described as african-american men in their 20s. live in san francisco, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, tara.

police in concord are looking for a man who clipped a police cruiser while trying to avoid a traffic stop. it happened at 8:30 last night. "the contra costa times" says an officer approached the man, the man jumped into his car and sideswiped the front end of the cruiser. police do not believe it was intentional. they describe the car as a newer model white or silver four-door sedan, possibly a honda accord. senator barbara boxer is demanding a justice department investigation of the utility company that runs the crippled san onofre power plant. coming up -- what boxer claims the utility company has been doing. the european union has voted to allow member nations send weapons to syrian rebels. right now, no country has immediate plans to send weapons to the rebel. but lifting this embargo means countries like england and france would support arming the

rebels may do it soon. >> gives us the flexibility in the future to respond to a worsening situation. >> some of the european member states oppose sending the arms. they fear more weapons would just increase the violence. in the meantime, republican senator, john mccain, made a secret visit to syria to meet with the rebels. he's repeatedly called for the u.s. to be more active in syria and to give weapons to the fighters. he's the highest-ranking u.s. official to visit syria since the civil war started more than two years ago. happening now -- a hearing over 911 calls in the death of trayvon martin is underway in sanford, florida. these are live pictures in the courtroom. attorneys for george zimmerman are asking that a state's audio expert be barred from

testifying about the 911 calls that were made on the night the teenager was shot. that expert is expected to stay on the stand. trayvon martin can be heard in the background of the call saying the words "i'm begging you." the judge is also expected to decide whether a jury can see text messages trayvon martin sent about his marijuana use. zimmerman is scheduled to go on trial next month. 7:06. well, in hockey, it's do-or-die tonight for the san jose sharks. they play the l.a. kings in the deciding game of the nhl playoff series. ktvu's janine de la vega jones us live from san jose to talk about why tonight's game is so special for one fan in particular, janine. >> reporter: dave, he told me he helped build the arena in the early '90s. he's been watching the team grow and has turned into a big- time fan. here behind me, you can see they are proudably displaying the sharks' banner. the fans wish the game was

being played here but they will be cerinthe team on as they watch on tv. right now, the western conference semifinal conference is tied. the sharks beat the kings on sunday. so whoever wins tonight will advance to the finals. this is big for the sharks. they are eager to play on the ice at the staples center. they won't have the home-team advantage. fans have faith, especially one man who shares a history with the shark tank. >> i worked on that stadium in 1990. that's part of my heart and i love the sharks. seven of us are getting together tonight and other people are missing different appointments and we're all getting together to have a nice barbecue and enjoy. >> reporter: when the sharks do well, so do businesses in downtown san jose who get an onslaught of people with all of the bars and restaurants down

up to the scene. we see traffic on the side. that's northbound 880. you can see it's slowing down as people come up. the chp did tell us they are expecting to clear the southbound lanes any time soon but it's been out hear for quite a long time. this is -- right now we're at high street. so just -- less than a mile away. you can see northbound yate yate 0 on the right -- 880 on the right is very slow. i want to go to the toll plaza and then we'll come back to the chopper because i think by then the chopper might be at the accident scene. the toll plaza is backed up for about a 20-minute delay here on westbound bay bridge. there has not been any major problems. but certainly, it's not like it was yesterday. the traffic is moving okay as you drive through. if you are driving on the peninsula, traffic is moving along pretty well on 101 and 280 on the peninsula. now, i do -- i do see newschopper2 coming up on the area where the accident was. and i don't see anything here. it looks like they may have

we're below average on the temperatures. we'll start to see that turn around and change and definitely as we head into thursday. it looks like breezy, warm, hot. still warm but a little cooler on sunday. >> thank you, steve. the stock market, sharply higher thanks to a 10.9% in home prices compared to a year ago. and just a few minutes ago, we learned u.s. consumer confidence has risen to its highest level since 2006. here are the results -- you can see them live on the big board, the dow is currently up 200 points right now, 15,503. that's up 1.1 -- 1 1/3. the nasdaq is up and the s&p is up 22 points right now, at 1672. so more record-breaking territory closing in for wall street. >> yeah. all right, tori. 7:12. a break from the controversy today. the president returns to the scene where he receives some rare positive feedback from a high-profile republican.

province says the men were former policemen who rejoined the force only two days earlier. violence is on the rise in iraq, where more than 60 people were killed by car bombs in baghdad yesterday. so far, no group has claimed responsibility but sunni muslim extremists linked to al qaeda are often blamed for similar attacks. more than 300 people have been killed in iraq in the past two weeks. the recent wave of violence has increased tension between the country's sunni minority and shiite-led government. now a 10th suspect has been arrested in england for a brutal killing of that soldier. reportedly, he's being held on conspiring to kill that soldier, lee rigby. the twos were shot by police. both remain -- the two suspects were shot by police. both remain in the hospital. senator barbara boxer wants

the justice department to look into equipment swaps at the san onofre plant. kyla campbell is in our washington, d.c. newsroom. >> reporter: the spokesman says the nrc has no comment on these most recent developments but the chair man of the nrc did release a statement after an onofre was asked to restart at 70%. the nrc says it won't allow the plant to restart until it is satisfied that southern california edison can operate the plant safely. that means the nrc must inspect san ofrofry and do a technical review of the plant. this comes after the plant was shut down in january of last year. a small radiation leak led to the discovery of a bigger problem, excessive wear on tubes that carry radioactive water. boxer got a letter that leads her to believe that southern

california edison deceived the nuclear he regulatory commission that led to the leak. the southern california edison says it's done nothing wrong. more on their response to bongser's claims when i see you next -- boxers's claims when i see you next. kyla campbell, ktvu channel 2 news. president obama will join chris christie today. governor christie wants to show off the reopening of the jersey summer board bach, just in time for the summer -- boardwalk, just in time for the summer season. president obama visited the region last november and he promised rebuilding. almost a third of the donated millions of dollars that the red cross raised to help the victims of that storm has not been spent. the red cross has about 110 million remaining out of the $301 donated specifically for

relief work. red cross officials say it's good to have cash in reserve to cover cashes that weren't immediately apparent after the disaster. critics are saying the red cross is not a long-term rebuilding agency. they should give the rest of that money to local organizations for reconstruction. 7:18. we're now learning that the u.s. postal service is in even deeper finance trouble than first reported. there have been discussions about cutting back service and eliminating saturday delivery but congress has consistently refused to go along with these suggestions. so the postal service continues to lose $25 million a day, and now postal service officials say daily mail delivery could be threatened within a year. the problem stems from americans increasingly using the internet to write bills and pay letters. backlash is growing among some professors against on-line

course offerings. a professor created a justice course. but san jose philosophy professors say online courses threaten the qual till of education at universities and could replace professors with a one-size-fits- all-approach for learning. the pentagon says designs for many of the most sensitive advanced weapons in the u.s. have been attacked by chinese hackers. more than two dozen whose designs were breached were critical to u.s. missile defenses in combat and ships according to the report. north korea says north korean businessmen can enter a jointly-run industrial park that's been empty since last month because of all of the tensions between the two countries. in a statement, north korea

it's known for its beaches but many people flocked to a river in los angeles over the holiday week. a two and a half-mile section of the l.a. river is now open to the

public. visitors can kayak, fish and boat without a permit through labor day. swimming, though, is not allowed in the river. 7:23. the scripps national spelling bee starts today. two bay area girls will be competing. 13-year-old audrey bantap is an 8th grader at iron horse middle school. she likes tae kwon do and playing the piano. but writing is her passion. 13-year-old, he's a 7th grader in cupertino. he likes to drink milk shakes, tori, before she competes. girls, by the way, will compete against almost 280 students from all over the world. the new rules will make the competition even harder, believe it or not. in the first round, the participants will now have to define three separate sections of vocabulary words, and the students who make it to

tomorrow's round, they will no longer have the chance to spell two words before they could possibly be eliminated. >> yeah. >> okay. i like the idea of having a milk shake before the competition. >> yeah. let's check in with sal and find out what's happening on the roads this morning. >> sounds good right now, doesn't it, tori? >> yeah. >> we've been up for hours. >> i know dave is on board, too. >> oh, yeah. highway 4 westbound, you can see traffic is not as bad as it -- well, it could have been. i was kind of expecting to see a little bit more slow traffic. it's slow in antioch and pittsburg but by the time you get to baypoint, it does get better. as you can see, 680 nearby will be slow. west 80 is backed up for a big delay, 25 to 30 minutes at the toll plaza. you are not getting a break on this tuesday after the holiday. b.a.r.t. is mostly on time. they've had minor delays but it's been good. this is one and 280 on the peninsula. the road sensor is not showing

7:29. happening now -- a major wildfire in santa barbara county continues to grow. it started yesterday just north of santa barbara in the los padres national forest. ktvu's brian flores has been following developments and joins us in the studio here with how the winds will play a role in battling this blaze. good morning, brian. >> well, as many of us know here in california, the winds will play a huge role in how firefighters attack this growing fire. we just got an update and they say 1800 acres have burned so far. it's being call the the white fire. in the area that we're talking about, about 15 miles north of santa barbara, it's growing and moving quickly through the los padres national forest. the conditions they say are similar to august and september. he also says there's a lot of fuel out there. it's being reported that at

least a thousand campers there for the long weekend along with 4,000 residents had to be upevacuated. the fire, 10% contained. the fire was close to threatening a dozen buildings, cabins and vacation rentallals -- rentals. >> one of the buildings threatened was a u.s. forest building. the fire was put out so only a portion of the building was destroyed. we had two vehicles burned. one was a u.s. forest service vehicle, the other was a private vehicle. >> currently, more than 550 firefighters are out there on the fire lines among the heavy resources also include at least six air tankers and six helicopters. they are expected to resume waterdrops. the american red cross has set up an evacuation center at santa barbara city college and another was set up for horses also evacuated by their owners. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right, brian. thank you. the chp was very busy over

the weekend weekend looking for drivers under the influence. statewide, more than 1100 drivers were arrested for dui. that's down a bit from last year. bay area police made 165 arrests for dui, including dozens in santa clara county. at least 61 dui arrests were made in santa clara county between midnight friday and midnight sunday. that compares to 38 arrests a year ago. we're learning alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly hit-and-run crash in colma over the holiday weekend. family and friends have left candles and flowers at the site of the accident on hillside boulevard, where three people were killed yesterday morning. police say the victims were all passengers in a ford mustang and were ejected when their driver smashed into another car. the driver of the mustang fled the scene but later turned himself into police. family members say his fiancee was one of the passengers in

the car. >> the guy go up to the lady and just like baby, baby, just trying to see if she's alive still. >> police say the driver may also have been speeding before the accident. 7:32. san francisco police crediting youth outreach programs for a steep drop in the number of arrests. san francisco police made more than 8900 felony arrests in 2011. that's a dramatic drop from 2002, when police made more than 20,000 felony arrests. now, police chief greg suhr says the drop may be due to diversion programs that help teenagers find jobs and avoid going to jail. a ranch owner in san rafael will be installing a new fence around a well after a very dramatic horse rescue. >> way to go! [ cheers ] >> he made it. that's buddy, the horse, pulled to safety about 6:30 last night after he fell down a 30-foot

well. tough to watch. he fell through a piece of wood covering the well. he had to tread where thes for hours. there were -- water for hours. there were concerns he wouldn't make it. >> somebody came up with the idea to raise the water level and he got up on the log with his head and made it. >> he made it. a crane was brought in. his legs got scraped up but they say he's expected to be okay. three berkeley neighborhoods will be testing out a new metered parking plant starting in september, the goal, to improve parking conditions. alex savidge is live in berkeley and tells us what kind of changes drivers can expect. >> reporter: the way you park here could mean shelling out more money to park your car in busy areas like here in downtown berkeley. the city, launching a three-

year test program in three business neighborhoods with the goal being to improve the parking situation and free up more spaces. the city is testing several pricing plans. one is to designate busy business areas as premium areas. another idea, the progressive rate, the price of parking goes up with each hour that you stay parked in the same spot. the city is also looking at the peak period approach where parking rates are higher between noon and 6:00 p.m. all of these proposals were drafted by uc berkeley graduate students who studied parking behavior. this pilot program is known as the go berkeley campaign and apparently this test period will kick off in september. city leaders will take a look at the results and see what the best 0 options are -- best optiontions -- best options. we're live in berkeley, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news.

>> thank you. 7:35. berkeley is in line to get federal grant money for three public transportation projects. the first big project is major reconstruction on the downtown berkeley b.a.r.t. plaza. the western part of that document avenue will be turned -- shattucck avenue will be developed. constructions could start in the start in the spring -- spring of 2013. sal, can you help the folks at the toll plaza? >> it's pretty slow. this morning, traffic will be backed up for at least a 20- minute delay. if you are driving through. as a matter of fact, it has been very slow since about 6:00 this morning, just before 6:00, they turned the meeterring lights on. that's somewhat unusual they turned them on early. it's been that way ever since. we're looking at the commute on

>> reporter: good morning, tori. the defense team believes that this information just is not add missable because it doesn't meet the requirement for introducing it in court. some of the experts agree. they said you need ten seconds of sound. there were only eight seconds available in the 911 in which there was screaming heard in the background. the defense team will also say one of the experts found that the call for help right before the shot was fired was from a younger person but because there's not enough information that should not be used. i want to show you some other important things that happened today. george zimmerman himself is not in court today. his team says it was a last- minute decision but there have been several blows to the defense team including the use of the photographs. and the texts taken from martin's phone. last week photos and texts were released suggesting the use of guns and marijuana. well, there will be no mention of past marijuana use in the presence of the jury, neither his school records, history of

fighting, social media and any information about his familiarity with guns will be allowed during this trial. the defense attorney says that introduce this or to eliminate all of this would be preemptively inappropriate. the judge responded the laws of evidence keep you from introducing this. we're looking into the courtroom. this is nudge debra nelson -- judge debra nelson. they are deciding whether to grant the defense's motion to issue sanctions to the state for withholding documents. the defense has asked for six more weeks to prepare the case. that may not happen as quickly as we're going for -- going through these motions. a gag order was requested. the first two was denied. tori? >> thank you, victor. worse than columbine.

stock markets sharply higher today, thanks to a 10.9% in home prices compared to a year ago. in the last hour, we learned u.s. consumer confidence has risen to its highest level in five years. for 19 tuesdays in a row, the markets have been up. so it's likely gonna be the 20th tuesday in a row. tuesdays are a good day. the dow is up 205.

slow driving here. back to the desk. new this morning, a police chase in san francisco ended with a crash when three suspects in a triple shooting slammed right into a police car. now, this happened near the 16th street b.a.r.t. station and ktvu's tara moriarty has been out there since 4:30. i know that police are checking b.a.r.t. surveillance video, aren't they? >> reporter: yes, they are. they are hoping that will bolster their case. the cameras are positioned on 16th and mission, right in front of the station. police are hoping they will reveal more about what unfolded here since 4:00 this morning. more than ten shots were fired, according to police, and all three victims, men, were taken by ambulance to san francisco general hospital. police arrived within one minute of the 911 call because there was an officer on patrol. one man is in life-threatening condition.

"the contra costa times" says the officer approached the man. police say the man jumped into his car and sideswiped the front end of that police patrol car. police say they don't think it was intentional. they describe the car as a newer model white for silver four-door sedan. it could have been a honda accord. a 6-year-old boy from san joaquin county fighting for his life after being rescued from a car that crashed several hours before it was found. the accident happened on a rural road near fresno. police didn't find out about it until the next morning. police say the driver lost control and crashed into an empty canal. the driver died. but that little boy was still found buckled in the front seat. he's in the hospital in fresno

now being treated for major injuries. san francisco mayor ed lee meets this afternoon with nonprofit leaders who want the mayor to use a recent revenue spike to restore millions of dollars to social programs. on friday, he's scheduled to unveil his two-year budget plan. nonprofit leaders hone to convince the mayor to use some of the city's unexpected revenue to rebuild public health services and other programs for low-income residents cut back in recent years. the booming technology industry is driving an economic recovery in the city's finances. santa clara county supervisors may make changes that will let residents know how representatives are finding their time. the supervisors' commit tee meeting is scheduled for tonight. two former city councilmembers are expected to propose an online calendar policy as well as an online registry for lobbyists. experts say the more public access residents have to

plant operator misled regulators. kyla? >> reporter: senator boxer says she recently obtained a letter that was written by a senior executive with the plant's operator and that letter leads her to believe southern california edison intentionally misled the public and federal regulators. the san onofre power plant has been shut down since january of last year after a small radiation leak led to a major discovery. unusually rapid wear inside hundreds of tubes that carry radioactive water. boxer believes southern california edison up somewhatted equipment that led to the leak. equipment that might not meet federal regulatory standard. c.e.s. says the own overtight complied with industry standards and best practices. s.e.c.c. said they did not install generators that would impair reliability. they want to restart one generator but the regulatory says they are not allowing the plant to restart until it is

dealers before the state lawmakers ban online car sales to north carolina residents. several other states already ban direct online sales. tesla states it will make the case to federal court if it has to. california drivers are seeing gas prices drop while the cost holds steady across the rest of the country. in oakland and santa rosa, gas is averaging $4.02 for a gallon of regular. it's a penny more in san jose. and in san francisco, a gallon of gas costs $4.12. those are down 25 cents from this time last year. experts say driverless cars will be on a california road near you by the year 2018. carmakers, insurance companies, the dmv, state lawmakers are meeting about this every week. they want to have rules in place by the end of next year. that's a tense situation and it's rising all of the time but

everyone involved -- involved hopes to reach a deal before the driverless cars are on california highways. san francisco highway says it will have a bike-sharing program in place by august. users, you will be able to pick up and drop off bikes at different stations. 35 stations are planned for around the city, including the financial and south of market districts, along the embarcadero, and near caltrain. there will be a public meeting about this at city hall to discuss the locations on thursday. flight car and san francisco international airport may be heading into a legal battle. the car-sharing service offers people headed to sfo a free place to park and a free ride to the airport. in exchange, they agree to allow flight car to rent their cars to other users. car owners also get a part of the rental fee. sfo says flight car never amid for a permit to operate a

welcome back. >> 8:22. security concerns about the statue of liberty. a new security plan calls for visitors to stop at ellis island to be screened when the landmark statue of liberty reopens on ulj u -- on july. charles schumer says now the visitors should be screened before they get on a boat headed to the area. passengers were previously screened with airport-style metal detectors at battery park in manhattan. the statue of liberty has been closed for months. they are fixing damage from superstorm sandy. we could find out this week if the eastern span of the bay bridge will open as scheduled on labor day. caltrans is expected to update the metropolitan transportation commission tomorrow about the integrity of the steel rods used to build the new span.

parkway and north texas street. firefighters say one of the victims had to be pulled out of their vehicle. three people were taken to a nearby trauma center. no word on the cause of the crash or any updates on their condition. in berkeley, a new parking program will soon force some drivers to pay more at the meter. but only three neighborhoods will be testing out the new plan. ktvu channel 2 reporter alex savidge is live in berkeley with an explanation behind the new parking trial. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. the goal here is to try to make it easier to find a place to park here in berkeley by freeing up more spaces. that's why the city is launching this three-year pilot program. it will happen in several business neighborhoods in this area. the goal is to improve the, aing situation -- the parking situation. you could be shelling out more money to park in areas like where we are. the city is testing several different pricing plans. one idea, to designate business

districts as premium areas. there could be higher prices to park there and shorter time limits. another idea, a progressive rate, parking rate would go up with each hour you stay park. the city is looking at where parking rates are higher between noon and 6:00 p.m. a lot of these proposals are not sitting well with at least one business owner i talked with this morning. he's worried the higher prices to park will drive aways customers. >> i think they are gonna kill the businesses down there. people will spend their money down the street instead of getting tickets here. getting tickets for $50, no. >> reporter: all of these proposals were drafted by uc berkeley graduate students who studied parking behavior. this is known as go berkeley campaign. the city will be holding

showcase the reopening of the jersey shore boardwalk just in time for the summer season. president obama visited the area back in october, before the election, promising to help with the rebuilding. nearly a third of the donations donated to the red cross to help the victims of superstorm sandy has not been since. the agency has about $110 remaining out of the $303 million donated specifically for relief work. red cross officials say it's good to have cash in reserve to cover costs that are not immediately apparent after the disaster. critics say the red cross is not a long-term rebuilding agency and should give those funds towards reconstruction. something happened in the french open. one of the star players did not like a call made by the ref. after his ball's was rolled over the line, he pulled out his cell phone and took a

the winner gets a spot in the nhl finals. los angeles has the home advantage but the sharks have momentum. they won three of the last four games. earlier this morning, three suspects in a triple shooting in san francisco were arrested after they crashed into a police car. this happened just before 4:00 this morning near the 16th street b.a.r.t. station. ktvu's tara moriarty has been there since early this morning at 16th and mission and you are back now and you are telling us about surveillance video from b.a.r.t. that may help out in this investigation. tara. >> reporter: yeah. officers are going to be looking at as part of their investigation. what they are telling us, this was a drive-by shooting of the victims walking on the sidewalk. luckily an officer was just around the corner on patrol and was able too respond within a minute of the call. this -- this happened shortly before 4:00 this morning. we know that one victim, three victims were shot one in the

torso. he's the one in critical condition. the other two men were shot in the leg. they are expected to survive. right now they are at san francisco general hospital. more than ten shots were fired according to police. this happening right in front of the b.a.r.t. station on the corner of 16th and mission. >> we were trying to get medical aid for the victims all shot laying on the ground. we were trying to maintain the crime scene for the witnesses because we don't want to lose them. they had information that proves the shooters -- that proves who the shooters might be. >> reporter: police put out a radio call when they learned the suspects were in a black mercedes station wagon. the suspects crashed into two parked cars and when they reversed, they rammed into a patrol car. that officer not seriously hurt. investigators found two gun inside the car. three blocks away, another car tossed out of their window right near double rock housing

units. police arrested three african- american males in their 20s. officers will be looking at the surveillance cameras to reconstruct exactly what happened here. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, tara. another cruise ship disaster ends a dream vacation for thousands of passengers, and as ktvu's pam cooks from the newsroom, it's not just the people onboard affected. >> the grandeur of the seas is in the bahamas but the passengers are making their way back to the homeport of baltimore. for the third time this year, a tropical vacation ended for thousands of people. this time it was a fire in the back of the ship there. in the early-morning hours of memorial day on the way to the bahamas, passengers were awakened by crew members pounding on their doors and fellow passengers warning them to get out of their rooms.

a memorial is growing for the victims of a deadly hit and run in colma over the weekend. that's where three people were killed. family and friends were leaving candles and flowers at the scene on hillside boulevard. police say the victims were all passengers in a ford mustang and were ejected when the car smashed into another car. >> speed was a factor, high rate of speed, and we're also looking into alcohol. so toxicology reports are pending but we believe alcohol was associated. >> the driver of the must take actually ran away from the -- mustang actually ran away from the scene but later turned himself in. the driver's fiancee was one of the passengers in the car. u.s. home prices jumped 10.9% in march from the same time last year. that's the biggest jump in home prices since april 2006. all 20 cities in the case- shiller ice index posted annual gains for the third month in a row. san francisco, by the way, had the second highest annual
