severely damaged pipe that gunfire, -- by that gunfire, tara. >> reporter: they will have to board up this window, it was completely shattered and it is completely missing and there is glass all over the place and the door is removed. this is actually large but just to give you an idea police say around 2:00 a.m. this morning, a robber or robbers held up a man and demanded his cell phone and wallet. they fired ten shots and fired into his leg. he is at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. this is not far from the greek orthodox church and we spoke to police by phone this morning and we have no description of a suspect just yet and we will

get a better idea of who they are looking for. we actually spotted some secure damage and they will be looking at that to see if they can glean any clues from that. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 morning news. the chronicle report is the bolts that anchor the railing of the bicycle path on the eastern span has failed. crews welded them tightly rather than leaving room for natural expansion for the bike path on warm days, some of them have already sheered off, they have inspected them and they will discuss new construction on the span and crews haven countered major issues. 32 seismic bolts were affected

and they found hair line cracks in the footing of the bridge tower and there is possible corrosion on some very long ultrahigh strength cables that hold the sections together. thousands of dollars in reward money is now being offered in connection with catching a man wanted for killing his wife and two daughters. his family was found dead in their home and now the nonprofit group secret witness is offering a $10,000 reward for miller's capture. shortly after their bodies were found they were found in humboldt county and his dog was also found. the investigation continues. and a football high school coach is due in court facing

sexual charges. he is facing 16 criminal counts. prosecutors say they have located two alleged sexual abuse victims and they are looking for more. his bail is set at 2. $5 million. they are focusing on the internal revenue service over targeting conservative groups and lawmakers who support reforms say the current scandal shows how complex tax provision gives the internal revenue service a chance and they are talking about making it more simple and straightforward. they have killed the number 2 pakistani commander and they will find out what is happening where leaders have been critical of the u.s. drone operation in their country. in palo alto along with

street. reporting live ktvu channel 2 morning news. time now names chased them in the national sea shore area. two mobile homes and four cars were destroyed but firefighters saved a central old farmhouse in the area. the cause of that fire is still under investigation. this morning firefighters in santa barbara are still battling a wildfire up to 70 feet high and it has already burned more than 200,000 akers. the air tankers and firefighters had to be can called in, this fire is only 10% contained. we are keeping an eye on

to figure out what caused that crash. and for the baltimore man accused of murdering four family members in europe, it is a detention hearing and federal prosecutors want to hold him here while they plan on extraditing him r he is accused of killing his aunt and other family members. he stabbed them and tried burning the bodies. he had been living with them for a few weeks. he was arrested and went to the airport. he accidentally published private information on the hospital website. this affects more than 1300 patients. information included names, is your johns -- surgeons, and that information with state

morning news. new video of an intense water rescue. nine people had to be rescued after trying to rescue a woman. they were stranded for many hours before they were lifted to safety and the woman they were trying to help was also airlifted to a hospital to be treated for broken bones and cuts. there is a surge in animal abuses. the latest case is scrappy who was almost beaten to death. and a bit pull -- pit bull mix starved and almost beaten to death they say they can't

handle all of these cases. it is partly because of a voter approved measure. several weeks ago, the city raised them and now the city is propose willing no new raises. the police however want to restore a 10% pay cut by next year. they will top the agenda by bart employees. they say a hiring freeze is to blame for a 43% increase since 2009 and they say they often have to work alone despite a risk of being attacked. 31 assaults were reported in 2012 and that's up from 9 assaults in 2009. san francisco's muni is falling short of the on time goals that were set more than 10 years ago. what muni says the problems are and what steps they are taking to get back on track.

. welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news, a horrible crash killed three people and the driver's appearance is today. he is being charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. he crashed on monday killing all three of his passengers including his fiance. he ran from the scene and turned himself in five hours later and investigators are waiting to see if alcohol was involved. time now 6:25, starting today san francisco muni riders can find out where the next bus is. muni is responding to problems and possible solutions and they are 50% on time and that's far below the rate expected. number one reduce vehicle

unwinding on the bridge itself so we will have another update, it's going to be a slow one for the bay bridge. we are following developing news in oakland. a street robbery this morning ended in a ross shooting. you say at least 10 were required? >> yes, it looked like it is where the bullet pearced the glass and police will be looking at clues as to who did this. we will give you an idea of the range of the shooting and it is pretty far. you can see where the bullet went through the window and it actually lodged in the wall on the other side. this right here is the frame shop and you can see where the window and front door were

you video of work which is already underway. we don't know how long that solution will take however we don't know about another batch the bolts, 200 which came in a different shipment and the question is, will those break too, even though they have not been tested and we should learn. high streaks cable issues and there was water in ducts where cables were kept. now let's about it because bolts were welded too tight and did not allow for expansion when it got hot and those were sheered off.

. all right, steve welcome back, here is a quick look at some of the top stories we are looking at, a man is in the hospital after being robbed and shot in the leg just hours ago. at least 10 shots were fired at the victim and hit two nearby victims as well and that victim is expected to survive.

right now we have no information on the suspects. and bay bridge officials will give an update on the construction of the bay bridge. they will not say whether they are scheduled to open but it looks like some of the bolts on the bike path were welded the wrong way. janine de la vega is in east palo alto to tell us how police are fighting back against rising gun violence. janine? >> reporter: i just spoke to them and they feel optimistic and there has not been a shooting since last week and what they are doing they feel is working and they will be holding a town meeting to get feedback for the community.

industrial average is down 87 points and about a half of a percent and so is the nasdaq and s&p 500. we talked about some good news for michael coors and apple is up as well. arise in cell phone -- a rise in cell phone thefts, more than 50% of thefts involve cell phones. when somebody's phone is stolen it should lock up and be useless but this will not happen, because they make millions of dollars a year by replacing cell phones. some local radio shows have stepped up to save the annual fireworks show in the sonoma fairgrounds because they could not find a safe and proper
