but obviously they will be detoured around this. police received a call that gunshots were fired in east san jose and officers arrived and found what appeared to be a latino man 19 and 20 years old. his face was down anficers immediately roped off this area to look for witnesses. >> we are looking for witnesses, looking for any evidence we can find and we have a homicide unit in route and they will take over the scene once they get here. >> reporter: at this point we don't have any information on the suspects right now again, police are interviewing neighbors to find out if somebody was in a car, if a car sped away if somebody was on foot, if there were suspects and/or if this is gang related

knocking out hot spots and almost every room of this house has fire and now water damage. you can see in the garage, all the construction and this is under construction and firefighters are trying to salvage what they could including some expensive tools. we want to show you overnight about a fire which sparked shortly before 1:00 a.m. and because nobody was living here nobody was injured but it did delay the call for help. they saw the flames shooting out of the roof and that's when somebody called 911. an old wooden roof and a modern roof which made this unstable for firefighters. >> it made it difficult for firefighters because it kept them off and the entire structure supporting the roof was burning.

>> this home is connected to electricity and not gas and they are not sure where the fire started and if it was electrical in nature and crews are still watering down the roof because of the roofing and older building materials which are highly flammable and the fire inspector is expected around 8:00 a.m. and we hope to get the latest details around the cause of this fire and we don't know if it was hooked up to electricity because nobody was home at the time. a man was hit by a cal train around midnight. caltrans said he was struck by the last northbound train. he was taken to the hospital but we don't know his condition. there were 50 passengers on at the time but nobody else was hurt. a deadly officers involved

. the classes at audubon school have been canceled after a deadly shooting on the grounds. police are canvassing the neighborhood looking for witnesses and officers tell us when they arrived they found the body of a young man lying facedown and neighbors called reporting hearing screams and as a precaution the school is closed for the day and parents are showing up with their kids and this is the city's 20th homicide of the year and janine de la vega is on the scene and she will have a live report coming up. they are addressing the spike in crime and last night they showed up to talk about their concerns. they were also given tips on how to protect themselves and the meeting came after a spike in violence including two teens. >> i for the first time in 22

years have not felt safe in our neighborhood for myself and our grandchildren because of the murders that are going on. >> mayor ed reid wants to retain current officers with pay increases and he plans to observe the police substation to help improve response times. crews are on the scene of an early morning house fire on the peninsular and it started just before 1:00 in view ridge drive in san mateo hills and live where investigators are on the scene in just the past 20 minutes, good morning, kate i. >> reporter: he is inside of this charred house and the construction crew is on the scene and that's because this home is being remodeled and the crew in charge had some expensive tools inside of this home and you can see in the garage firefighters were able to salvage some of those tools

and now construction is one of the things they will look at, as a possible cause of this fire. this fire started shortly before 1:00 a.m. and because it is being renovated nobody was here and that's good because nobody was injured but it did delay the call for help. somebody saw the flames shooting out of the roof and that's when somebody called 911. as firefighters worked to put out the flames there was layers of roofing on fire. >> they put a roof on top of a roof and there is lots of voids and spaces. >> reporter: firefighters tell me this home was connected to electricity but not gas. they are unsure where the fire started and if it was electrical in nature. within the last half hour, they have somebody standing on standby and you can see this fire engine which is filled

with fire unless there is any hot spots and it is causing a lot of trouble for firefighters this morning. again the fire inspector is on the scene and he is walking through with other firefighters and also the construction crew talking with investigators and i am going to check in with him and talk but latest, ktvu channel 2 morning news. all right, katie, thank you, we have new information about a hit-and-run in hayward involving an 8-year-old boy. it happened last night when the boy was in the crosswalk. 20 minutes after the collision, the 18-year-old female driver called and turned herself in. she had the green light and the boy ran into osswalk. he is recovering and the driver is not facing charges.

the broadway plaza center, police have reviewed the suspect and they left and entered the second story parking garage. a man 18 years old came from behind and grabbed her purse and the two struggled. the man ran when another woman came by and the victim was not hurt. and the purse was not stolen. a man is accused of shooting a beebee gun. a bus driver was injured after the beebee shattered the glass an injured her face. it happened in watsonville. the man was arrested and he is being held on $5,000 bail. the driver is expected to recover from her injuries. new this morning, a man charged in a suspected terrorist attack has made his first appearance in court. security was very tight as

once we got the doors open, the fire went out quickly. >> obviously you don't know what the cause would be at this point? >> you said somebody would be inside at the time of the fire? >> well, we had reports somebody was inside this morning whether they were there or not, we had not gotten that information. >> reporter: everybody is out? >> yes, everybody is out. >> reporter: this is a transmission shop? >> yes, and all the chemicals -- chemicals -- chemicals are put out. we are make sure all the fire is out. >> reporter: thank you very much. this is 100 and national and we have everybody out safely from the building and we don't know if anybody was in the building at the time of this fire but this is an auto repair shop and it appears we have part of the

. one last check on the braking news, classes have been canceled due to an early morning shooting nearby, janine de la vega has been on the scene for more than two hours and she just spoke to the school district, what are they saying? >> they have been turning parents away and parents are pulling up and surprised to see all of the crime time up and the school roped off and detectives are here gathering evidence to figure out what led up to a man getting killed on the street and they are trying to figure out who did it. they received word of gunshots this morning and officers found a latino male facedown on the ground and he appeared to be between 19 and 20 years old. they are asking the neighborhood if they saw

anything or heard anything. they put out an electronic message telling them classes have been canceled. >> we can't get into the school assuring them it did not happen at school, it is not a school incident, something that happened in the neighborhood and it is obviously very concerning but out of our control. >> it is too early to tell if there was any connection but there were other shootings and only one person was killed compared to the three shootings. this happened over the weekend and it happened during a meeting where people met to talk about it with police about their concerns.
