violence. ktvu's robert handa is live in san jose after talking to relatives of a 19-year-old who was gunned down this morning. >> we are here in one of four san jose neighborhood wheres people had to deal with a -- neighborhoods where people had to deal with shootings. >> reporter: san jose police spent the day investigating a shooting death of a teen waiting for his uncle to be picked up to go to work. the shots that killed him rocked the neighborhood around 5:20 a.m. >> i heard 3, 4 gun shots. dogs barking. i said wow! that is like really loud. >> reporter: i talked with the victim's uncle. the nephew moved into an apartment and they went to work together. he was not in a gang but he said he met new friends who had

as we look at the picture, heat, wind, humidity all factors. let's bring in our chief meteorologist bill martin. >> what i know of that area, interstate 5 runs through this area. we were showing close ups of flames and it was showing the pumping stations, out of bakersfield, there is flames right there. this is near where the pipes come down the back side of the grapevine. if you have been here you know what that looks like. it is steep, rugged, hard to fight. you see a lot of brush. burning up hill. here is the thing that is interesting to me, no red flag warning in the area because the winds are out of the south. humidity is 35%. let's go to the area. we have a red flag warning to talk about in a minute. i will show you what the winds

are doing. out of the south. you are getting a wind like this pulling moisture off of the ocean. temperatures is 86 degrees. fire conditions not that nasty. what is nasty are -- is the terrain. for us, national weather service issued a red flag warning that goes into effect tomorrow morning 10:00 a.m. for salono county. friday night and saturday we might see some other type of advisory for the hills. so a red flag warning setting the stage for increased fire danger into the bay area weekend. it will get hot around here. fire danger goes up. we will stay up on that fire. weather conditions could be worse. not great. winds are blowing 30 miles per hour but they are out of the south. next 24 hours, our winds come out of a bad direction,

from you. >> the irs is already knee deep in scandal after it was targeting tea party groups. now we learned 1,000 workers is suspected of misusing their cards. potentially using them for personal, inappropriate purchases. though investigators didn't say what was purchased we investigated into misuse at other agencies. he swiped his card for $10,000 in unauthorized purchases, including gas for his car. we found employees at the homeland security department. but irs workers seems ironic

rental cars and restaurants. he pleaded guilty to five felonies and 7 misdemeanors and resigned from office. he will be sentenced next week. we could face one year in jail. firefighters were called out to battle a house fire that was difficult to put out. it started before 1:00. the house was vacant and was in the process of being remodeled. the flames burned into the attic. a chief said building equipment and materials inside the house made it more dangerous for firefighters to battle the flames. what caused the fire is under investigation. a judge today raised the bail for a man arrested on monday following an accident that killed three passengers in his car. paul diaz is now being held on a million dollars bail. she charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter.

police say he was behind the wheel of this car when it crashed on monday. the force of the impact was so strong it cut the car in half. paul diaz's girlfriend and two other passengers died. he left the scene but later surrendered. he is due in court june 13. the california highway patrol is investigating a chain reaction crash involving a caltrans truck. one person was killed just before noon on interstate 80. 4 vehicles were involved. a car crashed into the caltrans truck and over turned. the driver of the car, 75 years old, was killed. this collision blocked the three left lanes for two hours backing up traffic for miles. the investigation into the deaths of the five people in an suv that went into the delta is taking a new twist.

the california highway california highway patrol said the man reported he crashed into a slough is now uncooperative. he and a four-year-old were among the victims. where they were going to or coming from is unclear. people who drive tesla cars will have more places to charge up. they plan to expand their stations. right now there are six, including this one. but they plan to triple that number by the end of june. the new stations will be in california, along with several other states and also along the eastern seaboard. time for thrill rides and cotton candy with the opening of the contra costa county fair. >> this year's theme is squeals, deals and animals.

. breaking news. since we brought you these live pictures of a wildfire in southern california, we learned two new pieces of information. first, one los angeles tv station is putting the area burned at 150 acres. remember, early reports put it closer to 30 acres. also learning of evacuations in the green valley area. a rural area, hilly terrain but again, officials have said there are homes and buildings in the area of the fire. at this point we know the fire was reported at 3:30 p.m. we don't ehave word on -- have word on the cause of the fire. we will have more developments as we get them.

california is a pioneer when it comes to driverless cars. the law allows them on state roads but today they called called for further testing of the cars. could put the breaks on widespread use on the vehicles. >> reporter: driverless cars got the green light in california but now regulators say not so fast. that technology isn't sophisticated enough yet. >> we will have systems in a few years that can be automatic pilots in some situations. >> reporter: 9-10 crashes are caused by driver mistakes. they could be distracted. perhaps eating or talking on their cell phone. driverless cars will eventually have technology make up for

near volunteera. 400 acres have already burned. the fire is still out of control. 300 firefighters from the u.s. forest service and the los angeles county fire department are battling the flames flames and using helicopters and one tanker. again we have seen the flames close to power lines and we are getting word of limited evacuations. temperatures in the area are in the high 80s with humidity 30% and winds 26 miles per hour. our chief meteorologist bill martin is tracking the fire and the conditions in southern california and the fire danger is increasing up here as well? >> yeah. definitely. this is the story. look at the terrain. up the ridge lines. you can see -- you know how steep the mountains are?

they are steep but they are is much steeper. this is almost vertical. tough to fight fires in this area. they are doing water dumps. setting back fires. it is a tough fire to fight because the terrain is brutal. the fires start in the valleys and work their way to the top. you can see this fire to the right. the winds, the wind advisory is in effect. winds 25 miles per hour. maybe 30 on the gusts. humidities aren't that low, 30%. that is not low for this area. 85 degrees. and look at the wind directions, winds coming off of the water. so it is not a horrible weather condition. it is horrible terrain. again, near santa clurita. in -- santa clarita. the red flag warning warning is
