>> and good morning. welcome to mornings on two . >> starting to heat up out there. let's check in with rosemary for a look at weekend. >> it's a beautiful start to the day. mostly clear skies the coast to the bay and inland. it's a mild start as well, temperatures are up by a few degrees. we will see a quick warm up. today will be the hottest day and local north winds, that is going to increase the fire danger. that will continue through today as well. there are a couple of isolated areas with a red flag warning. i will show you that and we have a cooldown as early as tomorrow. i have your temperatures lined up come up. >> interstate 80 and berkeley reopened after a deadly accident involving a bicyclist. we have more on what the victim was doing out there on the interstate. >> reporter: chp are still looking into what would possess

someone to cross the interstate. you can seat roadway is open but all five lanes blocked off this morning for that collision, fatal collision between a bicyclist and a car. we want to show you video of the scene the sergeant i spoke to said the driver who struck the bicyclist stopped and said he saw a flash and then hit an unknown object. the bicyclist was headed from right to left across the interstate. from the berkeley side of the roadway to the bay near the university overpass. officers say the bicyclist is a male, they don't know his age or race right now and as you can see the bike was cut in half. >> it should be an easy decision not to cross the freeway on a bike. you'll loose every time. >> reporter: >> reporter: chp blocked off all five lanes of i-80

eastbound to collect evidence and shortly after five this morning a driver of a small suv hit the back of a semi which was stopped because of the earlier collision between the bicyclist. the suv overturned and the people inside were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the driver of the big rig is okay. with in the last half hour the coroner cleared the scene. all five lanes are open. the driver who hit the bicyclist isn't facing charges but police want to talk to anyone who may have seen the collision. only one driver pulled over after that collision. live in berkeley. >> and here say live look at interstate 80 from a traffic camera. a big difference now than what it was about two hours ago as you can imagine. traffic moving much smoother now that lanes are back open. >> oakland police investigating a triple shooting early this morning. officers taped off the area around 105th avenue around

2:30. a group of people gathered for a side show. police say there was a confrontation which then led to an exchange of gun fire. three people were shot, one female, two men, all were adults. the woman is in critical condition. a party bus pulling in to the area tried to pass through but the crowd had gotten in its way. police aren't say figure the three victims were part of the side showero with the bus. no offers have been made. >> a 4-year-old who went missing is back with her mother. >> feeling blessed right now. >> yes. very happy. >> a lot of people were concerned. >> a lot of people were helping. >> reporter: we were on hand when the 4-year-old was found around midnight. she appeared shy and frightened, burying her head in her mom's arms. police searched for hours. she was found sleeping under a bed, covered with various items which explains why nobody saw her. >> i'm sorry that she was in

here. i feel like we looked for her really, really good and they had the dogs come in. i'm so happy she is okay. >> reporter: she was okay and in good condition. her mother thanked everybody for helping them search. >> a elderly couple is being helped by the red cross after a fire destroyed their house. a viewer sent us this video of the fire and as you can see the flames quite intense there. it sparked up just about one there on maria lane. a neighbor pounded on the door to wake up the couple and they were both able to make it out okay. firefighters say the fire started in a garage and then spread to the rest of the house. >> the fire did extend up to a large tree that is next to the garage but we were able to keep the fire to this house and the tree. >> firefighters say it's to early to know what caused the fire or if it's suspicious. >> after a day full of delays bart is encountering new

problems this morning. bart tweeted a message saying there are 15 minute delays in pittsburgh, sfo, oakland, richmond because of equipment problems. this after crews spent the night repairing a rail line when a bart vehicle hit a heavy duty truck. repairs started at one. they were finished around five. crews fixed the third rail and straightened out the tracks. the accident caused delays system wide. >> basically bart is on time 95% of the time and when we do have the big incidents, obviously it throws a wrench in a lot of plans. we just try to get through those days. >> some bart passengers traveling from the east bay onto san francisco told us their trip took them another hour and a half. bart investigators are checking to see if faulty brakes led to the crash. sources say that two bart workers in a heavy duty truck

had to quickly jump to safety. >> now to the latest storm damage in the heart land. >> horizontal. >> reporter: crews took amazing pictures of tornadoes in oklahoma and missouri. authorities are out this morning, look ing at the destruction. four people have died including a mother and child hiding in a car when a twister picked up the vehicle and threw it. more than 100 people are injured and nearly a thousand do not have power. the storm is causing flooding throughout parts of oklahoma as well as missouri. the national weather service said the storm had tornadoes, hail, lightning and heavy rain. people trying to escape the storm even found themselves in bumper to bumper traffic. the governor of missouri has declared a state of emergency in the st. louis area. it too was hit with tornadoes, and powerful rains. it had already been hit with severe storms earlier this week pushing rivers and streaming

out of their banks. the roof at a casino was torn off. power outrages are reported. the will rogers international airport in oklahoma city has reopened. the storm left debris scattered across the field but minimal damage was done to the terminals. the storm is causing some storm chasers to retreat. an suv driven by tomorrow chasers was caught yesterday evening. the vehicle was thrown some 200 yards, one of the storm chasers had minor injuries. >> homeowners will be urged to create defensible space. homeowners are required to create 100 feet by removing flammable vegetation. firefighters are going to be inspecting homes in hick's valley, and other areas. high temperatures and wind have firefighters on high alert this weekend. a red flag warning is in effect

new jersey firefighters have built three playgrounds honoring the victims of the shooting and other 23 will be built. family members and firefighters spoke at ground breaking for a playground honoring a 6-year- old cathryn hubbard. >> our job is to keep children safe and what bad things happen to kids it's a failure of the system. this is our way of trying to heal and make some sense of it. >> the playground has her favorite colors, pink and purple. playgrounds are also scheduled to open this month honoring another student and teacher who died trying to protect the students. a memorial service will be held today in new hampshire for the mother of the sandy hook gunman. adam lanza shot and killed her at their home before the rampage at the school. a private funeral for her was held just a few days after the shooting. >> the suspects in a dry ice bombing in disneyland is pleading not guilty.

the 22-year-old park employee christian barnes pled not guilty. he was selling drinks say prosecutors on tuesday. they say he had two dry ice bombs with him and put one in a park trash can. it did explode causing an evacuation of ton town. nobody was hurt and he is facing a count of possessing a destructive device. the red cross is temporarily suspending its operations in afghanistan. on wednesday one afghanistan guard was killed and a staff member was hurt after an attack at a compound on the international red cross area. security forces were able to rescue seven others. the taliban has denied involvement. >> the president said that the economy is showing new signs of strength. >> because we have more good jobs to create. we have more kids to educate. we have more doors of opportunity to open for anyone who is willing to work hard enough to walk through the doors. >> in this morning's address

. starting today people can no longer smoke outside starbucks. they said they are banning smoking in 25 feet of its stores. the move doesn't change anything in california where the company first banned smoking in 2010. it does include outdoor patios and reaction to the ban is mixed. >> how are they going to enforce it? they have their own security? >> if they don't want you smoking in front of their building then accept that and move on down the road. >> the ban applies to seven thousand starbucks stores in the united states and canada. >> alcoholic drinks could soon be stamped with those nutrition labels. the new regulation would let makers add them to the products but only if they want too.

the labels would include calorie and fat content as well as other information. they say wine gets better with age and now a new test proves it may benefit from being under water. a winery made history this week by pulling four cases of its 2009 wine out of the ocean in charleston south carolina. the test was a test to see how the lack of light and ocean conditions would age the wine. >> we wanted to see one what are the main differences between the aging in water and on shore. the main thing for me is the motion. we don't have any motion on shore. it's a complete absence of light, it's dark. >> the wayne winery said it was a success calling the wine extraordinary. wine from the test could sell for as much as one thousand dollars a bottle. >> wow. it better taste good. >> all the motion i guess.

. a bicyclist struck and killed on eastbound 80 prompting all lanes of interstate to be shut down for two hours. welcome back. >> new this morning the chp is trying to find out why that bicyclist tried to cross i-80 in berkeley before he was hit and killed. we are live with more on the accident that shut down the busy freeway for hours.

>> reporter: that is the big question. why would someone try to cross the interstate? let me show you where the collision happened. where that call box sign is where the man tried to cross and where his bike ended up. it's so close university overpass, as you can see the stair way is right there. the man trying to cross -- in the middle of the night when it was dark out. i want to show you video we shot of the scene after the collision happened around 4:30 this morning. the bicyclist was head from right to left. from the berkeley side of the roadway to the bay near the university overpass as i said. the chp sergeant i talked to said the driver who hit him stopped and told investigators he saw a flash and then hit an unknown object. that object ended up being the man on the bike. officers don't tell me -- say they don't know his age or race right now but the bicyclist was a male. the collision caused investigators to shut down all five lanes of the interstate. >> gather evidence.

there were parts and personal effects that were across the freeway. we had to for a while to get that documented. >> reporter: as traffic was stopped a driver of a small suv hit the back of a semi causing another collision. the suv overturned and the people inside were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. the driver is okay. around 6:30 the coroner picked up the bicyclist's body and chp reopened the interstate after that closure that was about two hours long. chp wants to talk to anyone who may have seen the collision, or who may have also struck the bicyclist and the bike. that initial driver did stop and spoke with chp. he is not facing charges. it appearance to be an accident at this point. reporting live. >> san jose police are searching for the person responsible for a deadly stabbing. the attack happened just before ten last night on -- in west

san jose. officers say they found a 35- year-old in a carport who had been stabbed. he was taken to the hospital where he died. investigators say they don't know the motive of the attack or if it was gang related. the san jose police department said it'll be out this weekend targeting gangs. there will be 40 extra officers on the streets. they say the crack down is some response to a possible gang related shooting at a convenience store. it includes swat teams, gang units and special operations. >> due to the lack of officers on the street a reason why a lot of the gang kids feel it's the opportunity for them to strike or do whatever they want against their foes. >> there is been 21 homicide this year. five in the past week. >> firefighters in houston texas are mourning the loss of four firefighters killed in the deadliest fire in the department's history. five other firefighters are

the fire burning about 25 miles east of santa fe. about 2,000 acres have burned. a second fire 50 miles northwest has grown to about 725 acres and damaged one home. the fire burning north of los angeles is just 15% contained now. the power house fire in the forest has burned 1500 acres near castaic lake. people in 25 homes were evacuated but have been allowed to return. firefighters say one building has burned. >> crews in belmont will be removing the steeplel of a church today that's been deemed unstatement officials say they found dry rot in the church. they will use a crane today to remove the steeple and then traffic along the street will be limited during those emergency repairs. drivers should expect delays near the richmond bridge. caltrans will close the eastbound, western drive on- ramp to 580 at six so traffic can be shifted from the westbound to the eastbound

least $60,000 at the boardwalk. officers say the plan included the guard grabbing the bags of money and throwing them into a get away car. police say that the man told others to point a replica gun at anyone who try tried to interfere. police say they seized 48 guns and 50,000 rounds of ammunition from his home. >> a kindergarten graduation in ohio ended with a huge fight and eight people under arrest. police think it started spilled punch. two teen girls started hitting each other and then their families jumped in and then someone pulled out a pipe and a hammer. >> just a shame. i think it's a shame that -- something as good as a graduation ceremony is marched by the actions of a few. >> nobody was seriously hurt but the school had to go into lockdown because of the fight.

seven adults and one teen were arrested. a 19-year-old was sentenced to 16 years to life in state prison for the stabbing of a newark high school football park. abraham hayde was convicted for the death of an 18-year-old in april of last year. prosecutors say the murder happened after an argument. >> an african american officer say he was roughed you up by other officers. he was off duty. police spokesperson said he didn't have id, had a gun and obey commands. he said it's racial profiling. >> no id on the person, no plates on the vehicle and also violations. >> that's not the issue. he was asked instantly are you

about a dozen people in sonoma in one neighborhood say they have had a clossen count kenter with a bear. its been spotted in a rural neighborhood. one man got video of the bear. there he goes as it made its way in to the woods, another took this photograph of the bear as it tried to get scrapping out of a compost bucket. several people say the bear is often quiet and calm. >> it didn't seem stressed, it didn't seem in a hurry. it didn't seemed surprised to see me. i guess it had been running around in the neighborhood for a while. >> state wildlife officers say bears not common in that area but it's rural enough for them to survive if they do not depend on people. meantime they say people should keep trash and pet food inside since the bear is looking for food. >> san francisco 49ers have signed their 4th round draft pick to a four year deal. he signed the papers yesterday.

bicyclist. the chp said the bicyclist was hit trying to cross the freeway near university avenue around 4:30. the impact of the crash can snapped the bike in half. >> it should be an easy decision not to try to cross the freeway on a bike, you'll loose every time. >> it's not clear what the bicyclist tried to cross the freeway. witnesses to the collision are being asked to contact the chp. the accident did close all five lanes of the freeway near university avenue and a sig alert was issued. this is video of the back up that the accident caused. the two right lanes much the freeway reopened about 40 minutes after the crash. the accident investigation resulted in another crash around 5:30. the chp said a driver of a small suv hit the back of a stopped semi on the runway causing the suv to overturn. the occupants inside were treated for m minor injuries.

and here is a look at how things look now at that accident site. it was right there ono the top of the screen where all this happened and as you can see from our traffic camera things are moving smoothly. police are septembering a triple shooting at a side show. police say a group of people had gathered for a street show. there was some type nfroation t exchange of gun fire. three adults were shot, two men and a woman. she is in critical condition. one of the men had surgery. another man just had a graze wound. a party bus pulling in tried to pass but the crowd got in the way. police aren't sure if the victims were part of the side show or with the bus. >> a 4-year-old who was reported missing in richmond is back with her mother. >> feeling blessed right now? >> yes i'm very happy. >> a lot of people were concerned. >> a lot of people were

helping. >> we were on hand when the 4- year-old was found around midnight. she appeared shy and frightened, burying her head in her mother's arms. she disappeared while visiting relatives earlier in the day. officers searched and neighborhood for hours. her mother said she was found sleeping under a bed covered with various items which explains why nobody saw her. >> i'm sorry that she was in here. i feel like we looked for her really really good and he and they can the dogs come in. >> she was okay as well as in good condition. her mother thanked everybody for helping. angelly couple is being helped after a fire destroyed their house. a viewer sent us this video of the fire. you can see just how intense the flames were. it sparked up around one this morning. a neighbor pounded on the door to wake up the couple and they

were both able to make it out okay. firefighters say that fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the rest of the home. >> the fire did extend up to a large tree that is next to the garage. we were able to keep the fire to this house and to that tree. >> firefighters say it's to early to know what caused the fire or if it's suspicious. >> after a day full of delays bart is encountering new problems. they sent a message saying there is a 15 to 20 minute delay at the mcarthur delay. equipment problems have been causing a 15 minute delay in pittsburgh, richmond and other areas. all of this after crews spent the night repairing a rail line that was damaged when a bart vehicle similar to a train rear- ended a heavy duty truck outside the oakland side of the transbay tube. repairs started at one this morning and finished around five. crews fixed the third

hundred feet of tracks. >> basically bart is on time 95% of the time and when he have these big incidents, obviously it throws a wrench in a lot of people's plans. we just try to get through those days as best we can. >> some passengers traveling from the east bay to san francisco told us their trip took another houro and a half yesterday morning. bart investigators are still checking to see if faulty brakes led to the crash and while there were no injuries sources say two bart workers in a heavy duty truck had to jump to safety. >> and now to the latest storm damage in the heart land. we have just received word that nine people have now died from yesterday's tornadoes. officials in oklahoma are holding a news conference right now. this is a live picture of that event. two of the nine we have learned are children. two of the nine killed are children. yesterday a photographer came with in a few hundred yards of

a funnel cloud. authorities are looking at the destruction in parts of oklahoma as well as missouri and kentucky. two victims were a mother and her child who were hiding in a car when a twister picked up the car and threw it. more than one hundred are injuried nearly a thousand, hundred thousand do not have power. the storm is also causing flooding throughout the area. the national weather service said the storm feature tornadoes, hail, lightning and heavy rain. people trying to escape that storm found themselves in bumper to bumper traffic along the highways, flooding forced evacuation of a trailer park. the governor of missouri has declared a state of emergency in the st. louis area. it too was hit with tornadoes, powerful winds and rain. the area had already been hit with severe storms earlier this week pushing rivers and streaming out of their banks. the roof at one casino was torn off, power outo ages are also

south bay because police are searching for the person responsible for a deadly stabbing. that attack happened just before ten last night on the 2900 -- in west san jose. officers found a 35-year-old in a carport who had been stabbed. he was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later. investigators say they do not have a motive for that attack and they don't flow if it was gang related. the san jose police department said it'll be out this weekend targeting gangings. the crack down is in response to a possible gang related shooting. this weekend's extra patrols include swat teams, gang units and special operations. >> due to the lack of officer's on the street is one reason why a lot of the gang kids out there filled out this is the opportunity for them to strike or do whatever it is they mean against their foes or their enemies. >> police say that there have

surface and come together and we do find ourselves arm in arm. >> the heavy flooding opened up a giant sinkhole along a highway near oklahoma city. it's about the size of a couple of football fields. as you can see there and it looks like a water fall falling down from the roadway. the tornadoes injured more than 100 people across the state. the storm system is causing flooding throughout the entire region. national weather service say the storm featured tornadoes, hail, lightning and heavy rain. people trying to escape the heavy storm found themselves in bumper-to-bumper traffic along a number of highways. flooding forced evacuation of an oklahoma trailer park and a days inn motel in kentucky. the governor of missouri has declared a state of emergency in the st. louis area and it was hit with tornadoes, powerful winds and rains. region had already been battered with severe storms earlier this week pushing rivers and streams out of their banks. the roof at one casino was torn off.

sigalert was issued. take a look at this video it shows extensive backup that accident caused. look at the red lights. two right lanes re-opened 40 minutes after the crash and the sigalert was canceled when everything re-opened at 6:30 this morning. the accident investigation resulted in another crash around 5:30 this morning. the chp say the driver of a small suv plowed into the back of a semi which was stopped on the roadway and that caused that suv to overturn. the driver of the suv was treated for minor injuries at the hospital. the semi-truck driver wasn't seriously hurt. we have new information now for you about that triple shooting early this morning in oakland. officers taped off that area around 105 avenue and mcarthur boulevard around 2:30 this morning. a group of people had gathered for a side show. police say there was a confrontation that led to an exchange of gunfire. three people were shot, one female and two males. tribune reports that the woman is a 16-year-old in grave condition and on life support. officers say a party bus pulling into the area tried to pass through but the crowd gotten in

a major ban on smoking. it is designed to limit the amount of secondhand smoke within city limits. if approved, outdoor smoking would be banned in the core of downtown and commercial areas at public events and in city owned parks. the city council will consider the proposal on june 4. starting today, people can no longer smoke outside starbucks. coffee chain says it is banning smoking within 25 feet of its stores. move does not change anything in california where the company first banned smoking in 2010. the ban including outdoor patios at the coffee shops. this week alameda county supervisors will consider a proposal to transfer monterey county inmates to santa are thea jail. calls for 60 inmates to be moved from the overcrowded jail to dublin. comes after the monterey public defenders office filed a lawsuit claiming jail conditions put the lives of staff and inmates at risk. more than 1100 inmates are housed in the monterey jail

8:15 this morning. no information on how big it was or if there were any injuries. in the south bay. police are searching for the person responsible for a deadly stabbing. that attack happened just before 10:00 p.m. last night on the 2900 block in west san jose. officers say a 35-year-old man in a carport who had been stabbed. he was transported to valley medical center where he died. investigators say they don't have a motive. they don't know if this is gang-related. they are still investigating. the san jose police department say it will be out this weekend targeting gangs. there are going to be 40 extra officers patrolling the streets. the crackdown is in response for possible gang-related shoot agent a convenience store in east san hose easm the extra patrols include s.w.a.t. teams and special operations. >> i feel that due to the lack of officers on the street is one reason why a lot of the gang kids out there feel that this is opportunity for them to strike or do whatever it is that they

it's a bright mostly sunny day in oakland. the winds are light and temperatures in the mid-60s. warming into the low 80s for the afternoon. a new effort begins today to help protect endangered whales. big ships in and out of san francisco bay are now required to use new shipping lanes to keep them from striking migrating whales. other california ports are also implementing similar rules. scientists call that good first effort at keeping whales away from ships but say more needs to be done to protect the creatures. now back to our continuing coverage of the latest tornadoes to hit the nation's heartland. in the past hour emergency officials surveying the damage say heavy flooding is the main problem and you can see the problem right there. they say parts of oklahoma city that never flood are now

rural neighborhood. one man got this video of the bear that made its way into the woods and another neighbor took this photo of that same bear as it tried to get food scraps pu. several people in the area say the bear is quiet and calm. >> it didn't seamstressed and didn't seem in a hurry and didn't seem surprised to see me. it was wandering through the neighborhood for awhile and had run into other people who wanted to follow it and take pictures. state wildlife officers say bears aren't common in the area and it's rural enough there for them to survive if they aren't dependent on people. people should keep trash and pet food inside because the bear is looking for food. 9,000 people turned out for the kickoff on san francisco's water front. what's up, san francisco! >> the x-ambassador and imagine dragon performed. thousands more are expected tomorrow when sting performs and neighbors say they are a little
