says barren edwards started molesting her. fouler recalls edwards assaulting her at least 6 times between 1998 and 2001. most incidents took place at edwards' home. >> he had other children as well that lived with him. he would ask if my daughter could spend the night. we didn't think anything of it. >> reporter: when porsche turned 12 she told her mother he had molested her. >> it's like they didn't believe us. >> reporter: bell says 12 years ago police told her there wasn't enough evidence to file charges against edwards, who at time was a respected high school coach and musician. today porsche fowler tells us she feels vindicated.

, oakland police are investigating a shooting and crash that left one man dead. someone drove up alongside a van and fired multiple shots last night. the van crashed near matt duction driver. the driver was killed. a woman was sevel times. power has been restored. one neighbor who didn't want to be identified said he heard the crash. >> very loud. it sounded like a bomb. and all the lights went out. it happened really, really quick. then after that i came over and just saw the vehicle with the person that it seemed like passed away. >> >> no arrests have been made. police do not know a motive for the shooting. oakland city workers are gathered saying they are willing to go on strike.

departments. they say the city has projected revenues coming in. some city officials say restoring concessions should be enough. >> the mayor's budget, she is stopping all the concessions. which means a 9% increase in compensation for all our city employees. that's before we go to the bargaining table. >> reporter: back here live, you can see about 70 union members who are here at this protest rally. the unions say they should be able to invest in the workers here as well as increasing public safety spending to help with that problem in the city. the seiu union representatives tell me they have not held a strike vote since 1946. they plan to do so next week.

the police headquarters in downtown oakland is still closed to the public because of a water leak. police say the leak was discovered about 3:00 this morning on the third floor of the bidding. a department spokesperson says the leak caused significant flooding on the first three floors. oakland police have not said if morrow. lding will a san francisco police officer was injured today in a traffic accident. it happened about 2:00 this afternoon near the corner of 8th and bryant streets. police say a car ran a red light, hitting the officer as he was in his patrol car. his injuries are described as nonlife threatening. new questions about how safe pg&e's gas lines are. an audit found that pg&e failed to spend $50 million it received from rate payers to fix and maintain natural gas

distribution pipes. this took place in the decade leading up to a deadly explosion. the audit was ordered by the california public utilities commission. the company disputes some of the findings. there's a scathing report about san francisco's troubled housing authority tonight. it's from an audit by the board of supervisors. it says poor management has deprived the agency of millions of dollars in lost federal funding. 276 housing units in the city were unused and there's a maintenance backlog of more than 2800 repair requests. happening now, voters are going to the polls in parts of santa clara county to fill the supervisor's seat left vacant following a criminal conviction. the special election aims to replace george jr. he resigned on march 1st after prosecutors filed charges against him for spending more than $130,000 in

virus. new developments in the huge power house fire burning in southern california. firefighters say moist, cool air has helped them and they have that fire 60% contained. so far the flames have burned more than 50 square miles of land. six homes have be destroyed. nine others damaged since the fire started last thursday in northern los angeles county. evacuation orders for 3000 have been lifted. cal fire has made no prediction about when that fire might be fully contained. long shoremen appear to have solved their dispute. about 100 union members gathered to keep the barge. they say the pacific maritime association no longer considered a barge a vessel and were using nonunion laborers. both sides agreed that local 10 workers would do that work. the union says there are still some outstanding issues and that talks are continuing.

folks to rent their cars instead of paying for airport parking. last year sfo took in more than $94 million from rental companies. chrysler motor corporation is refusing to recall almost 3 million jeeps. federal safety officials asked the company to recall jeep grand cheer keys from 1993 to 2004 and jeep liberties from 2002 and 2007. the national highway traffic safety administration says the fuel tank on the jeeps can fail when hit from behind and that could potentially lead to a fire. but chrysler says the jeep fuel tanks are not any more dangerous than fuel tanks on other models. the next move could be for the government to take chrysler to court. the city of alameda regained control over what used

afterward. >> reporter: first day of testimony in this unusual double jury trial is over. that father of that gang rape victim was the first to take the stand. a news camera was allowed inside the courtroom for opening statements but not for witness testimony. the victim's father testified about seeing his daughter after she was being wheeled from the scene after this horrible crime. he said her face was distorted, ashen, gray, clammy, she appeared to be on death row. hair was all messed up, lots of vomit in her hair. he described a footprint on the side of her face. the father said it's a horror, it's very scary to see what i did at that point. he talked about the scene that night in oklahoma october of 2009. he said he talked to her while she was being taken to the ambulance. i assured her we loved her and to hold on. this case centers around what who did what in the rape of the

girl. two are on trial. the victim time was raped for hours by as many as 20 people. today's opening statements were for jose monta know. >> i'll tell you the evidence will prove that mr. montano personally committed some of those acts. he personally raped jane doe and he is guilty of doing that in concert with those other people that did those other acts. >> reporter: montano's attorney says he got on top of the victim but did not commit rape. >> what mr. montano did in jumping down and jumping back up and leaving was that good behavior? absolutely not. we don't want anybody doing that. >> reporter: witness testimony continues tomorrow and the victim is expected to take the stand some time this week. new details about last friday's deadly tornado that

see behind me in china town in san francisco is just a block away from a police station. they say it's one of three targeted in a series of recent violent takeover robberies. now the first robbery happened at this wells fargo branch in san francisco on april 19th. the robbers are seen on bank surveillance cameras wearing scarves and baseball caps. police describe them as three black men. you can see one brandishing a gun, another in a bank hallway and another in an aisle inside the bank. the robbers use guns to intimidate employees and customers and jump behind the tellers windows to take money. the same men yesterday robbed two banks in the space of two hours. the cafe bank seen here and the metropolitan bank on powell street where i'm standing. >> the public should know these individuals are very well armed and very dangerous. they should not approach these

op are recovering after an explosion at a building on a college campus in new york. it happens just before noon at niacc college. the basement and first floor of the building were severely damaged with blown out windows and columns displaced. a utility spokesperson says natural gas had risen to explosive levels in manholes near the college. none of the injuries is life threatening. the suspect in the colorado theater rampage will undergo a mental evaluation. james holmes changed his original plea of not guilty to one of not guilty by reason of

insanity today. the judge accepted it and has allowed the use of a truth serum during interviews. holmes is accused of killing 12 people and injuring 70 more. if he's convicted on the insanity defense he would avoid the death penalty. the hacker who blew the whistle an an army private testified he never expressed disloyalty to the u.s. bradley mannings court-martial began yesterday. he's confessed to the leak but is accused of aiding the enemy. manning told him he was upset over government atrocities in iraq. the trial is expected to last for months. a review by the los angeles police department has concluded that ex-police officer who went on a shooting rampage earlier this year was justifiably fired. christopher donor killed four people before killing himself after he vowed revenge for his firing which he blamed on racism and bias. civil rights attorney said the

the embattled irs came under fire twice today in washington. conservative groups attacked the agency for putting them under extra scrutiny. their testimony comes on the same day a scathing audit took aim at spending. >> reporter: start with the irs, responsible for taxes. then add on allegations it targeted groups and misspent millions and you end up with an agency very much in the political hot seat. >> i have lost sleep over just being in fear of what our government might do next. >> reporter: this is the second capitol hill hearing in two days about the irs.

a gay rights group says a new survey suggest more than half of california voters now approve of same-sex marriages. this was released in time for gay pride month. according to the group, 55% of likely voters surveyed say they favor same-sex marriage. 37% say they are opposed. that is in sharp contrast to 2008 when 52% of voters approved proposition 8. the u.s. supreme court could issue a ruling some time this month. the actress who played sunshine corizone on glee has come out as a lesbian. she confirmed she a lesbian during a recent interview on a talk show. the 21-year-old first got noticed through videos on youtube. what a change today. you weren't kidding when you said the temperatures were going to drop.
