obama's approval on the -- arrival on the peninsula. >> and a huge geyser making a mess out of a street and we are learning this isn't the only water break in the city right now. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 6:00 p.m. >> good evening. hello. i am frank somerville. >> and i am julie haener. >> 10-15 minutes ago president obama arrived in the bay area. we saw him get ought of air force -- off of air force one. ktvu's patty lee and ktvu's cara liu at moffett field where air force one just touched down. >> we saw the president greeting a group of 50 folks here, invited guests by the white house. we see a number of families with children. we saw him saying hello to him.

there is so many people here, i am having a difficult time seeing. hopefully you can see our picture. the vehicle is starting to roll at this point. the folks here, we heard a loud cheer from them as the president arrived and said hello to folks out here. >> the president arrived early, didn't he? >> he did. air force one touched down around 5:40 p.m. this afternoon, 15 minutes ahead of schedule. that is something that folks here were not expecting. >> all right. cara liu live in moffett field. thank you. and on the agenda tonight, the fundraiser in palo alto. the president is headed there right now. ktvu's patti lee is standing by outside that event with what people are staying about this

visit. >> reporter: the president is expected to arrive in this neighborhood in less than an hour and you can see here to greet him is a crowd. a band of protesters. they finished playing. thishowed up an -- they showed up an hour ago. they want to let the president know they want him to reject the excel pipeline and two blocks away are a group of supporters. 100 guests who paid $2,500 and up to meet the president. >> feel so lucky. >> reporter: he never dreamed he might play host to the president. >> i didn't go to college. my mom raised six of us. to attend the reception cost $2,500 a ticket and a dinner later, more than $34,000 ahead.

we walked over to show you protesters. they are also with the excel pipeline. there is a group protesting anything. police are treating folks. game over for different types of environmental issues. i would say there are 150 people on this side of the protest line and the barricades were put up at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. they give a two block radius before the protesters and the home. patti lee, ktvu channel 2 news. >> and we caught up with the hostess of the fundraiser earlier today. she says it is not every day the president visits your home. she spent the day making sure everything was in place, the house was spotless. she admits it is nerve-wracking having the president as a house

>> that's right. it is chilly right here. even though it will get warm tomorrow. peach here have abandon. a few surfers right now. the swell is getting bigger. now surfers say they are excited about tomorrow's big swells but on ocean beach today life guards were warning warning when the waves get big from the south, and with the tides, even wading can kill. >> chillychilly at -- chilly at first. >> rip current could pull you quickly way from shore so stay in shallow water at this beach. >> he was warning that things can get riskier tomorrow. the next two days the risks go up, the swell increases to 10 feet, from the south and strong tidal currents. that increases the risk of rip

fire about 2:15 p.m. this afternoon on the 19- polk/bayview hunter's point line. investigators say three men got off the bus and began shooting into a rear window. the driver drove immediately to san francisco general hospital. the man who was injured is expected to survive. police are looking for the gunman. a senators ties to a water district in california prompted the fbi to raid his office. >> at capitol hill protesters called for a wider look in the wake of tuesday's fbi raid. he has not been seen in public since the raid. the fbi has questions about a bill that he authored benefiting a water district where his brother was a consultant. new details about a bay

area credit card fraud ring. ktvu's david stevenson learned why credit cards are more vulnerables than other parts of the world. >> the man -- vulnerable than other parts of the world. >> reporter: he bailed out of jail this morning. ktvu channel 2 news learned he was released pending an investigation of theft and forgery of credit cards. the investigation came after bounty hunters tracked him down tuesday night at this apartment building. >> i saw california i.d. didn't look real. looked like their first one. >> reporter: he took him into custody and says they found credit card numbers and gift cards that came from save mart stores. he says cloning the cards is simple, using devices found

online. >> usually they recall buy a device, which you can run and record the information and a device that writes that information to another card. >> reporter: the sis a billion dollars industry and most credit cards in the vulnerable. >> most countries switched to other cards. >> reporter: police aren't saying much but we know he will be in court next week on a domestic violence charge. david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. the oakland police department remains closed following a flood earlier this week. they are still cleaning up the water damage from tuesday's leak at the headquarters. police expect to resume services monday. trip to the beach, be wear, who could be behind a scare

environmental impact report. the complex covers 176 acres. apple needs to knock down several buildings. the deadline for public comment is july 22. apple finds itself in another legal battle. they have joined a lawsuit filed by a dallas company. the suit alleges apple's technology imfringes one of its patents. the plaintiffs are seeking monetary damages from apple. property taxes are on their way up for 130 down homeowners. they reduced reduced the value of many homes but now that the market is recovering home values are going up. that is good for homeowners but that means property taxes will be going up. they are calculating the average increase but some could expect a bump of 13%.

the oil spill is paying off for sausalito. the ship struck a bay bridge tower in 2007 spilling oil into the bay. the owner is paying $40 million to repair the damage to the environment. some of the money allows them to rebuild their public fishing dock. the peer will open next january. new at 6:00 p.m. fake shark warning signs in santa cruz. some say surfers are putting the signs up. ktvu's ken pritchett with the sign that caught many people by surprise. >> reporter: when the surf is good the water is thick with surfers and that may explain the motor of this phony sign. >> parks didn't make the signs up, we didn't post them. >> it fab ruicates three shark
