hitting the pharmacy. >> i haven't been here in a couple months. so i didn't know all the street regulations. and this came out of nowhere. >> the driver suffered minor scratches but he was not seriously hurt. oakland police searching for a driver who plowed into an apartment building overnight. police say the driver lost control and crashed into an apartment on rutherford street. you can see the huge hole there in the -- in the building. the driver ran away from the scene. president obama is waking up in san jose this morning and in just about three hours from right now he will due to talk to reporters about his health care reform law. janine de la vega is outside the janine you're on the phone

now president obama's motorcade this morning could effect rush hour traffic in the south bay. after he finishes his speech in san jose, the president will head to moffett field in mountain view. that is about 9:15 or in that area. the likely route will be highway 87 to 101 north. that motorcade could slow down traffic in the area which is typical because of the president's motorcade and the police in the area. again the president's speech this morning in san jose scheduled to begin at 8:50. ktvu which will be watching it for you and share you all the details throughout mornings on 2. >> when president obama leaves the bay area this morning, he is flying to southern california for a two-day meeting with the president of china. a main focus of that meeting is expected to be cyber security. i want to show you video of chinese president and his wife arriving in los angeles yesterday. the leaders of the world's two biggest economies are scheduled to met.

many silicon valley companies will be -- google and adobe systems are among the bids saying they have been targeted by chinese hackers. there will be police officers at a middle school in clayton this morning after a bomb threat was found in a girl's bathroom. it reads quote i will blow up this school on 6/7/2013. the school says it has investigated the threat and it is safe for students to come to school today. police will be on come pus as a -- will be on campus as a precaution. today is donut day. everybody is lining top try a donut filled with fragua. brian has more. >> reporter: it's pretty controversial this morning.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. if you shopped at a raley supermarket recently you may want to check your bank account. it can't say for certain if any customer information was stolen. raley's has been notifying people through e-mail. one man who regularly shops at raleys says he keeps a close eye on this bank statements. >> i check mine every two weeks because i've been hacked into with my debt card three times.

>> reporter: one security expert tells us cyber attacks on businesses are quite common and they could happen several times a week. time is 6:14. some lawmakers say they have no problem with the recently revealed government surveillance program. one that has been tracking millions of the defenders of the program say it has pretended forecast ever. >> reporter: he says quote the unauthorized disclosure of information about this important and entirely legal program is rep hencable and risks protection for the security of americans. the government is reviewing not just phone records, but internet data. the surveillance program is called prism. gettives the government access to the injure computer systems.

received a i. seven active duty u.s. marines are among the people arrested in connection to a major crime ring in san diego. they are accused of dealing with stolen cars and military gear. some of which was stolen from camp pendleton. all together 50 people were arrested. in addition to the seven marine assay already and seven former service members were arrested. disturbing new details emerge during the trial of two men accused of gang raping a teenage girl. a former student testified march sell loss peter and month tan owe -- if convicted they could get life in prison.

san jose i've seen 52-degree readings not far away. upper 40s in the santa cruz mountains. west wind at 20 miles an hour at travis. high pressure doesn't get warm to hot conditions inland. inland temperatures will jump up about 5-10 degrees. the hottest day will be saturday and staff that we will drop big time. coast 60s, bay 80. so hot to -- but 60s to 90s. concord 93. santa rosa only 86. 87 napa. st. helena will probably be about 95. same with livermore, gilroy, san jose 84. 83 redwood city. 64 half-moon bay. if you're in the valley, it will be hot.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. 6:24 is the time right now. google says it can predict which movies will be among the best. google checks movie title searches a week before the movie opens and compares comedies to comedies. action movies to action movies. me channellics at -- mechanics at six flags says their labor dispute is over. they were locked out of their jobs in late april. they have reached an agreement with park operators for a new contract. it's their first union contract and they will get overtime pay which has been a major sticking point in the negotiation. your time is 6:25. two whole foods employees claim they have been suspended from their jobs for speaking

spanish. their manager told them they violated the grocery chain english only policy. it's not clear whether there is such a policy. a whole foods executive from the area issued a statement saying employees are required to speak english when they're on the clock. however, a company spokesman later said whole foods has no such policy. and those employees were suspended for being rude and disrespectful. >> i talk to members in spanish all the time. it's the truth. >> so far more than 500 people signed an online petition calling for a boycott of whole foods until the policy is changed. justin bieber is taking his act to outer space. bieber and their agent purchased tickets. they take people 62 miles up to the boundary of outer space. they will feel a few seconds of weightlessness. get a great view of earth and

numbers. good number of jobs were created last month. analysts seem to be happy. investors seem to be happy. we'll smile and say good morning, to you. thank you for joining us here on ktvu channel 2 morning news it's friday, june 7th i'm dave clark. >> good morning, i'm pam cook. time is 6:30. >> developing news story we've been on this from hayward since 4:30 this morning. workers are cleaning up the wreckage of a car crash at a store. the driver site he got confused and then -- seem bo backing up his claim. >> yeah they say customers complain about the roadway out here all the time. the drivers dad picked him up this morning and told us he's going to complain to the city about the lack of signage out here. if you take a look behind me, you can see that the city did put up signs to warn drivers

that it's right turn only here at foothill. but the driver says that warning should have come earlier. kevin vo says he was driving south on foothill just after 3:00 a.m.. heading to a friends house. when the light turned green. he stepped on the gas and department know it had become a one-way street. >> i have a lot of stuff to do and now i don't have a car. >> reporter: how you feel something ing? >> i'm in shock. >> reporter: the change in the roadway is part of the 238 corridor project that is supposed to improve traffic flow in downtown hayward. the roadway changes were implemented in march. the driver isn't facing any charges this morning. he's going home with a few minor scrapes and bruises.

you can actually see they have several other things set up. right here in this front area. this is the fence. this is the entry point. thigh have unlocked it for us. if you take a look closer, they do have several locks they can lock in place. these are usually used to put your hand through top make it harder for police to cut through that if they need to get through. obviously. they have left the gate open for us. again they say that stays losted most of the time. their interactions with police so far have been good. taking a look inside. i want you to look at the tree stands. they have some people sleeping in the trees. and several more people slipping in and around of this area. what is the point of this? this area is supposed to be developed entocone does. they don't want that to happen. and they think they will be pretty succiseful in stopping

he needs to get -- stress the importance of clean energy and investing in education. today the president will focus his speech on affordable health care act and particularly how they are working to encourage the 10.2 million uninsured latinos to get affordable coverage. because california is the largest state with the biggest insurance market, mr. obama will talk about how critical it is to help the 6 million who are uninsured here. it's not open to the public. only to the press. but we've seen a lot of curious hotel guests here. trying to catch a glimpse of the president. a lot of picture taking of people. but we will definitely keep

monitoring the situation. we are told we could probably fit into that room in about an hour. janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. >> the president's speech this morning in san jose is scheduled to start add 8:50 this -- at 8:0 this morning. we are getting breaking news from southern california. utility company just announced that it will be closing the nuclear power plant. that plant has been offline since a leak in january 2012. operators have been pushing to restart it since then. san jose can safely run it at 70% capacity. just last week california senator barbara boxer called for an investigation into whether the utility executives intentionally misled federal regulators. back here in the bay area former county supervisor george shirakawa will be sentenced today for misusing campaign money. he is also scheduled to be arraigned on charges of

creating a flier for a san jose city council candidate that falsely claimed an affiliation with the communist government of vietnam. police have identified shirakawa with dna found on a postage stamp. time is 6:38. let's get you out the door. sal, what is happening with the toll plaza? >> it is getting busier. it's backed up for a 20 minute delay. you can see it's kind of stacked up. it's also stacked up on the ramp coming down from 880. you see the cars coming in from there was a it was a minor incident. it was in one of the lanes. that is why the metering lights were slowed down. this crash wasn't there for very long at all. there for maybe ten minutes on the bridge. but it did a little bit of damage as you can see.

also the morning commute on 237 that is light. so if the bridge hadn't had that accident, we might be looking at some live conditions there. we still might see that after 8:00. let me just get rid of that. westbound 24 the traffic there looks good. that earlier car fire has been cleared. let's go to steve. sal, thank you. well, well, still fog making a push inland. considering there is very warm air aloft. you get up a couple thousand feet. and without a north, north east wind it's not going to make it to the coast. there is a lot of fog there. the fog inland or over the bay will burn off sooner today. temperatures it will warm up. but santa rosa is 51 right now with fog. without a north wind yeah it will warm up by default. 86 there. san francisco going 68 after yesterday's cool 62. livermore well. 86-95.

san jose 76-84. that is downtown. there will be 90s to the interior. concord, livermore, danville, san ramon. it will be five to ten degrees warmer. coast and bay there is too much fog and travis has a west wind at 20. if it was going to be hot, hot they would have hardly any breeze at all. a west wind to 20. 100-degrees ukiah. clearlake. vacaville. temperatures 50. 52 novato. and 54 san jose. although not far away i've seen 52. there is that west wind at 20. most locations a breeze has tailed off but it's still generally on shore. a lot of fog. it will burn off sooner. sacramento might get their first 100-degree reading. reno probably will. if they do, it will be the earliest ever. fog, sun, warmer for most. warm to hot inland. thick fog coast and bay.

6:45. a cvs pharmacy on foothill boulevard will open in about an hour from now. after a car crashed right through the front of the store. the driver of that car had a couple of scratches. he is blaming nearby road construction for confusing him. president obama will wrap up his bay area visit this morning. he will make a speech to reporters in san jose. thesspeak at 8:50 this morning in san jose. he will be talking about his health care reform bill. and in washington, d.c. some lawmakers are defending that secret surveillance program. the one that collects the phone records of millions of americans. california senator dianne feinstein says that program has prevented terrorism. it is national donut day and a south bay donut shop is celebrating it with free donut it calls the foie bomb. brian has more on that. >> reporter: it's not stopping

people from going there. foie gras is duck or goose liver that is fattened by force feeding. some say it's a delicacy but in the state of california it's illegal to sell it here because the state says it's animal cruelty. but what if you give it away for free. here it is. today they are giving away for free what they say are called foie bombs which is a donut filled with foie gras. the way to eat it is infuse the donut and take a bite. they will be serving as many as they can while supplies last. however many customers many of them are now former customers are letting their voice heard in opposition of the giveaway. we spoke to the owner has minutes ago. they did post their promost on their website but they removed their comments because some were threatening violence. the owners say it will not

he was the last world war ii veteran in the u.s. senate. he died after suffering complications of pneumonia. in philadelphia 300 demolition sites in the city now being reinspected after that building collapse that killed six people. that building was in the process of being torn down when it fell down on to a salvation army thrift store next door. 13 people were pulled out of the rubble before crews called off the continuing search. one woman who was rescued said she was sopshopping in the basement -- was shopping in the basement. >> it felt like something had blew up, shook, and you hear all of this crumbling. >> another woman also pulled out of that collapsed building has already filed a criminal lawsuit. her lawyer says a contractor responsible for tearing down the building violated several safety regulations. the city of philadelphia is expecting eastbound more losses to be filed in the coming days.

concord lot is raising serious health and safety concerns. mattresses, couches, and bags of bargain have all -- bags of garbage have been left on a lot. it's also an area to dump drug related waste and attracts bugs and rodents. the city of oakland first friday street festival may be ending soon. it costs about $20,000 to hold the event on telegraph avenue every month. oakland has put a half million dollar into security and street closures and permit fees but they plan to pass everything off now to a volunteer organizing committee after the first friday's tonight. organizers don't want to charge venn cars to participate -- vendors to participate but they're having a hard time figuring out a way to make the event pay for itself. it's coming up on 7:00. we want to get a quick look at traffic. if people are heading out the door, what should they know?
