around and see how they've camped out. the police are on alert at a contra costa county middle school this morning after a bomb threat. what the message said and where it was found. and a car careened into a pharmacy. police say the driver was not under the influence as giving a credible excuse for the accident. "mornings on 2" starts right now. well, good morning. it's friday, june 7th. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm pam cook. want to start with the weather. steve's here. you and i talk about it being a little something for everyone. if you like it hot, go inland. >> absolutely. there's a lot of fog out there. the fog on the coast is really thick in parts of the bay. there's still a west wind from cordelia, fairfield, travis. inland, 90s. by the coast, 60s to 70s around

the bay. here's sal. steve, good morning. right now, traffic is a little bit slow here and there in the south bay but i think the slowest traffic would be in the east bay. we do have slow traffic at the bay bridge. on the golden gate bridge, it's foggy. very thick fog, especially at the north end of the bridge. back to the desk. we have some breaking news to tell you about out of sunnyvale. there are reports of police activity near lakewood elementary school. now, sunnyvale police have confirmed that agents from the alameda south county traffic force are on the scene. they were there to serve a search warrant from what we understand. but the person in question ran away. there's a backyard-to-backyard search going on for that suspect. we're working to get more information as soon as we have it. president obama, wrapping up his bay area visit this morning in san jose. he'll be talking to reporters

about his healthcare reform plan at 850. he will be at the fairmont hotel. janine de la vega is joining us. she's on the phone from the fairmont hotel where i know security preparations are happening as we speak. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yes. that's right. about an hour ago, our camera was taken away up in the room where the news conference will be held where president obama will be speaking and my -- that's why my photographer instead had to shoot some cell phone video of what it looks like outside of the fairmont on market street right now. there is a heavy police presence. a lot of secret service. there's bomb-sniffing dogs. there's an ambulance parked out in the front. just for precautionary measures for the president. also there's metal detectors. now, president obama is here to talk about his affordable healthcare act and what it means for all americans and the efforts in california to implement the law and enroll

people who are not insured. the president will highlight how to make this affordable. and he will highlight how important it is to insure those people here. he raised money for the democratic senate committee. the president said he's much more optimistic about america than he ever was at least right now. he says he needs to get people in congress who share his optimism and don't think that the word compromise is a dirty word. now, president obama will be making his remarks at 8:50 this morning regarding healthcare in one of the ball rooms at the fairmont. we to have a camera again up in the room that's undergoing a security sweep. for security reasons, i -- or recant tell you what's going on

-- we can't tell you what's going on -- or we can't show you what's going on. men in dark suits are doing a complete sweep. this news conference is not open to the public. it's only open to the press. we'll bring you that news conference when it happens. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right, janine. the president's speech, 8:50. it will be on the affordable healthcare act. according to the white house, the president will focus on efforts here in california to enroll the 6 million people in the state who do not have health insurance. he will highlight special efforts to reach out to uninsured latinos. yesterday, protesters trying to get the president's attention showed up ap his fund-raisers. the biggest group demonstrated against keystone oil pipeline from canada to the gulf coast. now, president obama's motorcade this morning could also affect rush hour traffic in the south bay.

after he wraps up his speech in san jose, the president will head to moffett air field in mountain view. that's at about 9:15 or so this morning. the likely route will be highway 87 to 101 north. the presence of the motorcade could make traffic even slower than usual in that area. now, the president's speech, again, this morning in san jose, scheduled to begin at 8:50. we're watching for it. we're gonna share all of the details with you on "mornings on 2." we're gonna live stream the president's speech on our website, ktvu.com. when president obama leaves the bay area this morning, he's flying to southern california for a two-day meeting for the president of china. the main focus of that meeting, cry bersecurity. this is -- cyber security. this is video of the president of china and his wife arriving. they will be meeting in rancho

mirage. google and adobe systems are the businesses saying they were targeted by chinese hackers. san jose police have ordered protesters to get out of the plot of open space or be arrested. ktvu's claudine wong is there live at the scene where demonstrators are saying they are not going anywhere. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning. this is the site of the old hayes valley farm. it's now the site of new development. for now, it's the site of another occupy protest. let's take you inside. the protesters have been here for a week. they've opened up the gates. you can see a lot of activity. they say during the day there are about 100 people. still some people sleeping here. they have a living area, a place to park their bikes and clothes. they have areas where they've made tree stands and they will continue to build more of those as the days progress. they say they have a couple of people sleeping in there. a lot of sleeping on the ground. to the left of you, we do kind

-- of us, we have the computer set up. and then there's the garden. their goal, to keep this area from being developed. it's slated to be the site of new condos. that's why they've come in here to try to stop that. they believe they will be successful. we've been talking to neighbors about what they think of this protest. >> i do support them. i think that we needen to able to preserve some -- need to be able to preserve. >> i've killed my supervisor, the police five times. >> reporter: about this protest? >> i've called the health department. i've called the landlord, the people who own this property. no answer. no. i tried everything i can think -- today i'm calling mayor's office because this is nasty. >> reporter: back live out here on this plot of land, this is laguna, in between the oak area

here. pretty busy area. no one wants this to be open space. i haven't found anyone who supports necessarily the development, but there are mixed emotions about this protest underway. now, in terms of police activity, we've seen a couple of patrol cars drive by. there was a written notice to the folks saying if they don't leave they could be arrested for trespassing or disorderly conduct. but so far, no action in this area. we can tell you if you take a look at the fence, they are prepared for things to go in a different direction if that's the case. but they also say they are prepared to stay. live in san francisco, claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:09. this morning, police in clayton are on a middle school campus after a bomb threat was found in the girls' bathroom. it was found at diablo view middle school. it read "i will blow up this school on 6/7/2013." the school said the they was investigated and that it is safe for kids to go to school

today. police will be on the campus as a precaution. criticism about the santa clara unified school board is growing now. an online petition has received more than 1500 signatures now. parents, students and educators want a no-confidence vote. they blame board managers for micromanaging and driving out top administrators including the superintendent and six principals. the school board is concerned about the student test scores, not the politics. 7:10 is the time. hopefully, we have relatively light traffic for friday. i know it's slow at the toll plaza. >> it is because of some earlier trouble there, pam, and dave. westbound on the bridge. we had a crash near treasure island. it didn't stay there for too long. but i have a feeling if we hadn't had that, we would have a much lighter commute. they had to switch the metering lights on. they are kind of cycling back up to normal speed. it will take a while for this to unwind. about a 20-minute delay at the

toll plaza. on 880 it doesn't look bad in oakland. northbound and southbound in hegenberger, moving along nicely. livermore valley commute has been not as bad as it normally is. a little slow coming in after the tracy triangle into livermore but it clears up by dublin. 7:10. let's go to steve. a lot of gray here. there's already some some inland. vacaville 61. by the coast, it will not get hot today. there's not a component of a north or northeast wind. there's still a bit of a westerly breeze, cordelia to fairfield. the warm air's in place. definitely aloft. that's settling in. that sends the fog bank down the deck. so some thig 5:00 and misty, drizzly by the coast. thick fog in the morning, warmer inland. really bay, though really nice. some locations, 90s. the warmest day will be

saturday. it will be hot. ukiah, clearlake, vacaville, out to the valley, hot. we'll see 90 to 100 here on saturday and then we drop about 15, 20 degrees on sunday. a little low off the coast of southern california. and that will pick up some thunderstorm activity on sunday. but today and tomorrow, if you don't like the heat, go west. 50s on the temperatures. 51 santa rosa, 50 half moon bay. that's cool. mountain view, that's moffett. it's overcast. you go to the other side of 101 and downtown, it's 56. livermore is 56. walnut creek, 54. fairfield, 57. not that farm yet. you get a west wind, it's not that farm. napa west wind, slight component of a northerly breeze, not much. generally it's north or northwest. the fog will get chewed up pretty fast inland but by the coast it will stick around. it will be hot through the interior. it will be hot up in reno. maybe their first 100-degree reading. for most of the bay, it will be

a foggy morning. 80s towards, santa rosa, napa. and then 80s in marin county. 92 in walnut creek. 70 alameda. pittsburg, 94. livermore, 95. martinez, very quiet up there. no fog. but i do have reports at crockett and also vallejo. 85, santa clara. 95 gilroy, 76 on the beach at santa cruz. 64 half moon bay. 77 san mateo. 82 menlo park. and 81 mountain view. warm to hot. we'll continue saturday. we top it off and it drops 10, 20 degrees and then partly cloudy kind of cool on monday/tuesday. >> major changes in the weather. >> oh, yeah. a bad crash early this morning, right at an east bay cvs pharmacy. why the driver says this was not his fault. what he's blaming for the crash. and the attack on some local grocery stores that may have left your credit card information in the wrong hands.

we have a pretty good fog bank out there. inland temperatures will warm up pretty quick. look at the fog. it's really thick. it will burn off. sunny today, cool for some. warm to hot for others. we're following some developing news. southern california utility company just announced that it is permanently shutting down the san onofre nuclear power plant. the plant has been offline since a leak in january of 2012. operators say they are abandoning efforts to try to restart it because of a number of regulatory hurdles. 1,000 people will lose their jobs as a result of that closure. 7:16. if you shopped at a raley's supermarket recently, check your bank accounts. the computer network may have been the target of a cyber attack but they can't say for

certain if any customer information was stolen. raley's has been notifying people through e-mail. one woman says she knows people who have had their identity stolen. she's very cautious about her accounts. >> i check my credit card and bank statements two to three times a week. i watch it pretty carefully. >> one security expert says cyber attacks on businesses are actually quite common. they could happen several times a week. the nation's top intelligence official is denouncing the leaks of documents revealing how the government is monitoring phone records and the internet. scott macfarlane is in our washington, d.c. newsroom with details on this. >> reporter: the director of national intelligence has issued a statement saying this information is used to protect our nation from a wide variety of threats but the certain civil liberties union asking for a congressional investigation into these programs saying the government

has now direct access into every corn of our digital lives. the program is not a new program but it allows the feds to extract e-mails, photos, audio files that it allows the feds to directly tap into the servers of popular internet companies including yahoo!, facebook. we heard about the verizon phone records that have been tracked recently, also a source of controversy. >> they basically said to verizon, give us your call logs. if they love local calls, domestic calls, international calls, give them to us. that's a little disturbing to us. >> we'll see if president obama addresses this when he speaks later on a health care event in about an hour august. back to you. we're hearing that an irs employee in cincinnati alerted a number of irs officials in washington, d.c. about the practice of targeting

conservative groups a year earlier than previously reported. in interviews with congressional investigators, the irs cincinnati employee said she sent an e-mail to a number of irs officials in washington, d.c. in july of 2010 summarizing how her unite handled applications for tax- exempt status. they tarted groups that have -- targeted groups that have the words tea party in their name. one employee said she didn't learn of the practice until june of 2011. the debate over immigration reform begins in the senate today following a controversial house vote. the republican-controlled house has voted to deport importations of hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants brought here by their parents. they say the vote was symbolic, it does not expect to become law. but it strikes differences between the two parties as they try to reach a compromise on a

plan to provide 11 million undocumented immigrants on a pass to citizenship. inmates begging officials to reconsider a policy about mail. there's a new policy restricting mail to postcards. they claim that will strain relationships over their loved ones. this is to prevent drugs and contraband from being shipped into jails. a man from sacramento is looking for the rightful owner of $24,000 worth of marijuana. that was accidentally delivered to his house. george burton says a fed-ex box was left on his porch. he opened it up and found marijuana heavily wrapped with packing styrofoam. he doesn't know why the box was delivered to his house but he posted a sign on his door in case the rightful owners come looking for it. are you ready for a warmup?

welcome back. 7:23. i'm not making this up. an alligator sighting in los angeles county. somebody called the police. they said they saw two women holding an alligator atant intersection. sheriff -- at an intersection. sheriff's deputies said it was

probably a lizard but they found this four-foot long allegater along with a kangaroo on and a monkey. they were part of a program introducing kids to animals. the woman had just taken the animals to a school and they pulled over for a quick stop. wow. today is a spare-the-air day for you. as we look outside, you can look at the sky for yourself. that means our air quality is expected to be not healthy because of the hot weather steve's been telling you about and high levels of pollution. everybody's being encouraged, use public if you can instead of driving and try to keep the pollution levels from getting any higher than it already is. 7:24. let's see what's happening in our commute right now. it's getting busier than i expected for a friday morning, sal. >> you roo right, dave. this friday morning thing has been marred by a couple of things we had. one of them was a crash on the bay bridge that didn't last long. but it did some damage to the backup as they had to turn on the metering lights slower temporarily.

breaking news in sunnyvale. agents from the south county task force wrapped up a search near lakewood elementary school on lake chime drive. the sunnyvale police say they were there to serve a search warrant but the suspect ran away. that's when the agents started searching nearby backyards. we don't know if anyone was arrested. we're told the agents are leaveth the area -- leaving the area.

there's a big hole at the front entrance of a cvs in hayward. earlier this morning, that car crashed into the wall on foothill boulevard at the door. the driver, who only had a couple of scratches, said don't blame him it's not his fault. lorraine blanco is there now. what's happening there now? >> reporter: well, right now, employees are getting ready to open up the cvs pharmacy. there's still a hole there at the train -- entrance. the driver says this street is very confusing. here's why -- you can see foothill right here, drivers going southbound. they are forced to take a right turn. that's because it suddenly becomes a one-way street at a street and foothill. there are right-turn only signs but many drivers agree that it is still confusing. kevin bow said he was driving south on foothill, just after 3:00 a.m. heading to a friend's house. he stepped on the gas and

didn't notice it had become a one-way street until the median was right in front of them. the daly city resident said said he swerved and -- said he swerved and crashed into the pharmacy. we talked to a lot of people who agreed with him and they are not happy with this 238 corridor. >> down here, i've seen investigator people go straight where it's turn -- i've seen several seem go straight where it's a turn only. >> reporter: this is supposed to improve traffic here and the roadway changes were implemented in march. the driver is not facing any charges and is going home with a few minor scrapes and bruises. no one was inside the store at the time of the crash. the store still plans to open on schedule at 8:00 a.m. back out here live, city crews are on the scene working on this 238 corridor project. it's set to be complete sometime this summer. as you can see, the roads still

need to be striped out. maybe there will be more signs since so many drivers are finding it to be confusing. reporting live in hayward, lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police are searching for a driver who plowed right into an apartment building overnight. police say the driver lost control and crashed into an apartment on rutherford street and foothill boulevard. there's a huge hole in the wall now. the people who live there were shaken up but not hurt. the driver ran away from the scene. about three hours later, another driver lost control in oakland and hit a fire hydrant. that happened at 55th avenue and international boulevard. water started to spill out on the streets. the car left the scene by the time police and firefighters arrived. not clear what caused that crash. 7:32. former santa clara county supervisor, george shirakawa, scheduled to be sentenced today for misusing campaign money and

public money. that's not the only legal matter he will be leaving this afternoon. he's also scheduled to be arraigned on charges of creating a flier for a candidate that falsely claimed an affiliation with the communist government of vietnam. the district attorney has asked for a one-year jail sentence on the charges of misusing campaign money. shirakawa could also face a three-year sentence if he's convicted on the new charges. happening right now, president obama, still here in the bay area. he's due to speak in about an hour from now in san jose as he we gins to wrap up his bay area -- begins to wrap up his bay area. security is underway at the fairmont hotel. at 8:50, the president will talk to reporters about his healthcare reform overhaul. the white house says the president will highlight california's implementation of the affordable care act with a focus on the outreach to uninsured latinos. again, the president's speech this morning in san jose due to

begin at 8:50 this morning. we're gonna watch it for you and share it with you right here on "mornings on 2." and by the way, ktvu will live stream the president's speech on our channel 2 website, cute.com. the oakland police department will begin a major reorganization this weekend despite a shortage of officers. the interim police chief said there are just 35 officers per shift who patrol the entire city. this made it hard for them to respond to some crimes like the sideshow last weekend that injured three people. the chief is shifting resources to send officers to places where the sideshows usually happen. >> in terms of reorganizing the police department this weekend, a lot of command movement to -- you know, make the plan work. >> the reorganization also includes a recommendation from the bratton consulting firm to have police captains assigned

to five areas of the city. a body found in west marin is now being investigated as a homicide. a hiker discovered the body yesterday morning near a ravine off sir francis drake boulevard, not far from point reyes see shore. the victim -- seashore. the victim's injuries appear to be suspicious. she's in her 20s, 30s. police in walnut creek searching for a woman suspected of robbing a cabdriver. it happened yesterday morning at 8:30 on treat and bancroft. police say the woman robbed the cabdriver after he picked her her up. she's described as white, 20, 25 years old, long blonde hair pulled into a ponytail. she was hearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black stretch pants and had a black backpack. all morning long people have been lining up at a south bay doughnut shop in honor of

national co nut shop. psycho doughnuts is offering a one-of-a-kind treat. brian flores is in the newsroom to tell us why some say the special doughnut will cost that shop some business. >> reporter: well, several people are unhappy because of this. others don't think it's a big deal. they say it's a delicacy. foie gras is foos liver. what if it were given away for free? today they are giving away what they say are called foy bombs, a bow nut holes with moose and then honey fig and balsamic. they will be serving how much of these were made. we just spoke to the owners at the san jose location about 30 minutes ago. that location opened up around

7:00. despite violent and death threats on the internet and on facebook, they say it will not deter them of giving away the doughnuts. they say they were vie lighting the -- violating the ban because they are giving it away for free. the owner also says they were expecting protesters there this morning but they haven't seen any. instead, there are about 16 to 20 people, liked up to try one. we also understand that -- lined up to try one. we are aware that police are there just in case things get out of control. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. krispy kreme doughnuts is giving away free doughnuts. the salvation army doughnut girls gave free doughnuts and coffee to members of the military during world war i. in alameda county, they are celebrating and delivering doughnuts to emergency responders and military

veterans. ikea recalling thousands of lyda jumbo coffee and teacups. they can break when you put hot liquid in them. there have been at least 20 reports of people hurt around the world but none of those injuries were in this country. the cups sold for about $5 between august of last year and april of this year. if you happen to have one of these cups take it back to ikea, get a full refund. 7:38 is the time. back to sal for a look at traffic. what are you keeping an eye on? >> we've been looking at the bridge. westbound, bay bridge, earlier, much earlier we had a minor accident. it took a while. now things are getting better. it's looking like a 20-minute delay. the accident was only there for a short time. there were no injuries. the backup was there for a while. now, if you have the luxury of waiting around, it looks like it's clearing out and there's not a lot of traffic coming compared to a normal day.

so by 8:30 or so we should see a big improvement here. taking a look at 880 northbound and southbound at oakland, that looks good. we've been looking at the road sensors. we don't see a lot of slow traffic in san jose, cupertino, saratoga, los gatos. a little bit of slowing near 101 at 880. let's go to steve. some of the fog inland will burn off very fast, what's inland. some very warm air. some of the higher elevations. a site called black diamond, east side of mt. diablo. 74. that's pretty warm. at the surface there's still a cool po meant of a -- component of a westerly breeze. if we had a northeast wind, it would be really, really hot. as it stands, it will be warm to hot for some and kind of cooler for others. a fog and drizzle on parts of the coast and also in the western part of san francisco, i know out towards sunset and the richmond district. santa rosa, 76.

going 86. melissa in rohnert park said, there's a lot of fog. i don't know if it will get that warm. well, the days are long. remember that. 62 san francisco. 95 in livermore and we'll go 84 in san jose downtown proper but out towards readhill view, 88, 89. a very thick fog bank. it's being squashed. that's why we have the thick fog. it also burns it off sooner, except by the coast. that will be about noon before we get the breaks. ukiah, clearlake, it will be really hot. the hottest temperatures on today and tomorrow and then we'll cool it down. 60s 70s, 80s. ukiah, which was 101 yesterday. clearlake, which was 99 yesterday, i think, chloe up there. in vacaville, yes, they will be hot and out in the valley, it will be really hot. but for you, looking at more 80s and 90s. 52, santa rosa. 52 half moon bay. i mean, 56 walnut creek. 55 napa. kind of a cool morning,

welcome back to "mornings on 2." dow jones is up almost 200 points this morning. a lot of that has to do with the jobs report that we're looking at. we'll talk about that in a second. dow up 1.1/4. nasdaq and s&p up. one local stock, tivo, that stock down more than 17% right now. some negative news, for the most part, even though tivo has settled some patent disputes with motorola and cisco.

but tivo's stock is down. this morning's report on the job market is good news. 175,000 new jobs were created in may. that's an indication that the employers are hiring at a strong pace. the unemployment rate inched up .10. but economists say that's because more people began to look for work which is also considered a sign of improvement. the u.s. government plans to sell more shares of general motors stock. they ended up with stock in enchanges for the bailout plan with gm. the stock will go for about $44 a share. that will raise more than a million dollars. once the sale is complete, the government will still own 189 million shares of gm. homicide detectives in philadelphia now inspecting the site of a building collapse where six people were killed this week. that building was in the process of being torn down when it fell onto a salvation army thrift shop next to it.

in san francisco and a third in millbrae. 7:48. more than 100 people filled a san jose plaza demanding an end to gun violence. san jose police have investigated 22 homicides so far this year. now, some people say they are afraid to walk out of their holes -- homes. >> there are people out there saying i'm afraid. i said don't be afraid. happening right now, a standoff in san francisco over open space. ktvu channel 2 report reporter claudine wong is there where protesters are defying an evacuation order. what's happening now? >> reporter: we have a little bit of a developing situation here. take a look. this beat has been opened for us. they just -- gate has been opened for us. they just locked it. i asked them why. they said because of the crew that came to cut the trees. there's a truck there and around the corner another truck. i talked to them. they said they were sent by the city to clear out the trees here on the property. and clearly the protesters aren't gonna let them in. we've talked to one man, putting on gear. we know they have put these tree platforms in the trees. they've told us that, hey, they've seen it done at cal when they had the protest that

lasted almost two years. in the far distance you can see somebody up in the trees. i think they told me five stands already in the trees and they are gonna build another one, at least that was the plan today. they are getting prepared, though, to get up into the trees at not let these folks come in here. let's walk up the street and let you know what's happening. we can show you -- there's the cherry picker, the other side. the crews had no idea this was there. they called in a supervisor to figure out where they should go from here. but a little bit of a standoff situation. we've never seen the truck here. we've seen a couple of patrol cars but no police to enforce what's going on. we did get a letter from the neighborhood association. it's going to be sent to the mayor told. this is what one board member told us. >> our message is we would like to have a clear and swift clearing of the parcel so it

thinks a bear killed their goats. a woman and her husband live on the property east of santa rosa. she says when they came home tuesday night, they saw a bear climbing you out of the goat pen and into a nearby tree. the two goats were dead. they also say this is not the first time they've seen a bear in the area. new details about the costs of fighting a massive wildfire in southern california. officials say more than $11 million has been spent fighting that powerhouse fire in los angeles county. the fire is now 84% contained. it burned 24 homes and almost 30 other buildings. firefighters have contained another wildfire north of los angeles in ventura county. that started yesterday afternoon in simi valley. the fire disrupted metro leak, train service for atrium and burned more than -- a time and pushed acres before it was brought under control. fortunately, no homes were damaged there. 8:21. they are claiming they were suspended from their jobs for

more details about a vehicle crashing into the front of a cvs pharmacy. about 3:30 this morning, that car crashed into the cvs on foothill boulevard. the driver insisted it was not his fault. ktvu's lorraine plan co is there now. you've been -- blanco is there now. you've been out there since 4:30 this morning. the driver is not the only one complaining about the detours around there. >> reporter: one driver pulled over to share his frustration. he said he was not surprised at all. this sign says right-turn only. that driver has seen other drivers going through and instead of swerving to the right like the driver did today, they drove right into oncoming traffic. in this case, the driver, kevin, said he was driving southbound on foothill just after 3:00 a.m. when the light turned green, he stepped on the gas and didn't

notice the right-turn only signs until the median was right in front of him. he said he turned quickly to avoid the median and ended up crashing into the pharmacy. we talked to several drivers this morning who think the city made a congested area more difficult to get around. >> it's very confusing. in fact, right now -- right up the road is a place where the lane goes from one lane -- it divides into two lanes. that makes no sense to me whatsoever. >> reporter: the roadway changes are part of the 238 corridor project. it is supposed to improve the traffic flow. the one-way traffic circulation was implemented back in march. something positive, the drivers we talked to said the commute has been faster since the changes. the driver is not facing any charges and he suffered a few minor injuries. back out here live, the area, as you can see, is still under construction as we speak but is set to be complete this summer.

the cvs is open this morning. they've not fixed the shatteredder toway yet. reporting live in hayward, lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police searching for another driver, that car smashed into an apartment building overnight. police say the driver crashed at rutherford street and foothill boulevard. you saw the gaping hole on the wall. the people who live in the apartment building were shaken up but luckily no one was hurt. the driver of the car ran away from the scene. about three hours later, another driver lost control in oakland smashed into that fire hydrant. this happened at 55th avenue and international boulevard. you can see all of the water spilling out into the streets. the car had already left the scene by the time the police and those firefighters got there. still not clear what caused the crash. if you shop at raley's supermarkets you might want check your bank accounts. the company says its computer network may have been the target of a cyber attack. it can't say for certain if any

this morning is making up an unusual treat as part of the celebration of national doughnut day. kight's brian flores is in our newsroom now to tell us why this particular doughnut called the foy bomb has some people really threatening violence. what's this all about? >> several people are unhappy. others don't think it's a big deal because foie gras is a del kissy. in case you don't know, foie gras is a duck or goose liver intentionally flattened. it's illegal to sell it here because they say it's animal cruelty. but psycho doughnuts is walking a fine line by giving a taste for free. they are giving away a foy bomb which is a doughnut whole filled with the moose and sopped with sage and then filled with honey and figs. they will be only giving away a

since a leak in january 2012. operators say they are abandoning efforts to try to restart it because of a number of regulatory hurdles. 1,000 people will lose their jobs as a result of that closure. 8:48. well, this weekend, the oakland police department will pea twin a major -- begin a major reorganization. the interim police chief said there are just 35 police officers per shift to patrol the entire city of oak. that's made it hard for them to recrimes and lus dangerous sideshows like the one last weekend. the chief said he's shifting resources to send officers to places where the sideshows usually happen. >> what i'm doing is not acting like i'm the police chief, i'm being the police chief. i can't do this job halfway with -- just trying to get through a few months. i have to look long-term. >> the reorganization also includes a recommendation from the bratton consulting firm to have police captains assigned

[ cheers ] >> yesterday, they protested outside of the school district offices. they are angry that the district cut medicare patients to about 110 teachers, many of whom are retired and taught for more than 30 years. the teachers say they've been getting letters from the district saying they were paid a monthly medicare supplement and each of them owed the school district more than $8,000. >> it's pretty shocking to get
