peacock lounge. katie utehs has more. >> reporter: good afternoon. he was a bouncer, the victim. the medical examiner's office has not releasing the man's name. we're not either. his autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. i did speak with friends of that victim. they've left flowers here and prayer candles. one heartfelt note says they are waiting to see him walk through the door to keep us safe. >> from what i heard on there, he was a bouncer and i went oh, no, it's one of my friends. >> the officers were, you know, confronted with trying to contain the scene. >> reporter: bullets hit two people. a customer who received minor injuries and the bar's bouncer who died at the scene of the bel haven center. police are unsure what prompted the gunfire but say it happened outside of the lounge. >> i have a state farm

insurance agency in the center and i was shocked. >> reporter: businesses we spoke to said the bar normally hosts a mellow crowd and the security staff kept everyone safe. >> it's known as a sports bar. it was surprising to hear a lot of people were here for a p- hop concert. it brought have brought a different clientele than normally is here, which is normally sports enthusiasts. >> reporter: now, bar regulars mourn the loss of a well-liked bouncer. >> he only talked about his wife and -- just normal stuff, you know, mostly, again, we would sit there and laugh and make sure everybody was safe and having a good time. >> reporter: this shopping complex does have closed- circuit surveillance cameras. police say they are combing through it trying to piece together the moments that led up to the shooting and also potentially identify any witnesses or the suspected

shooter. at this point, they've released no suspect information. katie utehs, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, katie. and happening now -- fire crews are on high alert from solano to napa and sonoma counties because of lightning- sparked fires. according to calfire, crews are battling two dozen small fires sparked by lightning. these fires are less than an acre in size. they also say strike seems from ben lomond are heading to napa county to help fight the fires. rosemary orozco is here with th >> well, thankfully, tori, the lightning winding down as well as the stormy conditions. let's go to the radar. i will show you just why it was so easy for those firefighters to spark, especially over the north bay. if i get in a little bit closer, this is a time lapse of about 12 hours. but it started after midnight and through the early-morning

hours, roughly 400 cloud-to- ground lightning strikes with little to no rain. take a look at that over, santa rosa, lake county was hammered by the lightning. if i shift east, contra costa county also reporting quite a bit of lightning. you can see here at 1:45 in the morning, antioch, oakley, discovery bay, seeing quite a bit there as well. but this system is pulling north and east. that's the good news. even though it was a spectacular light show if you had a chance to see it, the rain is winding down. santa rosa reported a few .100. but the problem with all of the lightning, little to no rain was falling at the time. that's what sparked the 22 or more small fires in that area. when i come back, we'll get a closer peak at the radar, we'll talk more about the cool, breezy conditions expected for your monday. >> thank you. a 58-year-old woman who was hit and killed while riding a bicycle in pleasanton has been identified. alameda county coroner's office says diana hurstvoot of dublin

was knocked off her bike and died at the scene on foothill road when an 18-year-old driver hit her and her husband. police are now investigating to see if any charges will be filed. >> we'll be looking at all of those aspects, the driver's action, speed, if that's a factor, the mechanical aspects of the vehicle, the action of the bicyclist and whether intoxication was a factor. >> police say the driver was cooperative. the victim's husband is expected to survive. the man accused of killing seven people at oikos university is expected in court this afternoon. the hearing is to discuss mental competency of one goh. the judge ruled last year he's not competent to stand trial. the judge has suspended all legal proceedings against him. he's in a mental hospital. san francisco police are now investigating an early- morning house fire where a marijuana grow has been

discovered. hundreds of marijuana plants were removed from the house on 35th avenue in the city's richmond district. they were discovered by firefighters who had responded around 12:30 a.m. to a report of smoke and fire coming from the back of the home and garage. they also found an elaborate heating system which had within illegally wired. -- been illegally wired. if the ofs say they had a hard time getting around inside the house. >> they were hiding what's going on inside the building, so there was a lot of obstacles, a lot of electrical wiring. >> are -- investigators are still looking into who owns the house. no arrests have been made as of yet. five people were hurt in marin county when a fire raced through a condominium. the fire started around 10:00 last night at a home on penny lane in fairfax. the first crews to arrive found flames shooting from the condo unit. a second alarm went out bringing in crews from six

surrounding fire departments. they brought it under control within 20 minutes and five people were hurt. >> there were two residents and then three were others that were trying to assist them. there were two patients transported to the hospital as well as three minor injuries that retreated at the scene and released -- that were treated at the scene and released. >> two victims suffered burn injuries. the others were treated for smoke inhale -- inhalation. the damage, $250,000 and there's smoke damage to a neighboring unit. a deadline is looming for b.a.r.t. to settle on a contract with the union that represents the transit agency's train on the raters -- operators, engineers and station agents. if an agreement is not reached by june 30th, workers could decide to authorize a strike. employees are pushing for a pay raise, saying their last salary increase came in 2009. another sticking point is benefits and who pays for them.

b.a.r.t. says it is strapped trying to fund improvements to its aging fleet of trains. today is the day apple fans have been waiting for. just a few minutes ago, the keynote address by tim cook and other apple leaders ended. ktvu's brian flores joins us live from outside moscone center with atwas unveiled today. good afternoon, brian. >> reporter: about 6,000 developers lined upoutside of moscone center west here to hear the latest and greatest from apple. from the applause we heard from tim cook, it looks like they were pleased. [ applause ] >> some of the biggest waves and most extreme surfing in all of north america. >> reporter: that was tim cook walking on stage about 10:00 this morning. the big news coming out of apple was the announcement of a new operating system called osx

mavericks. they are poking fun at the fact they were runth out of names for cat, to the new operating systems. there's multiple finder tabs, you can tag your files while on hi cloud. and this will -- on icloud. and this will extend battery life and provide responsiveness. >> it has great new apps and enhancements for every mac user and some features that we think about will appear to the power users. >> reporter: now, what also drew applause from the crowd was the unveiling of the osu 7 which team cook says will be cleaner and it will goatsbearders better ways to -- it will also give outers better da -- users to share videos and videos. experts say mac books can go

it will be staffed monday through friday. they are providing 2 15,000 to the police union. police in san pablo are getting more surveillance cameras to help fight crimes. san pablpolice say the cameras will be able to read license plates and even identify the people inside of the car. >> there could soon be new limitations on food trucks in san francisco. today, a subcommit tee of supervisors to said to discuss new regulations. the proposal calls for a limit on the number of days that food trucks can stay in one location as well as reduce the concentration of food trucks in the financial district. food trucks operating by chain restaurants may be banned. the land use and economic development committee will decide whether to forward the ordinance to the full board of supervisors. a group of elderly woman, some in their 90s narrowly

department is about ready to complete a major phase of its recommended overhaul. the department's command structure will reportedly be completed this saturday. it includes getting the final three of the department's five policing districts up and running. at the recommendation of consultant, opd is dividing the city into five districts each run by a captain. the new district commanders will be eric lewis in district one, and that's west oakland and the downtown. can't be anthony in district 2 which covers north oakland and captain orozco which covers grand lakes and the fruitvale district. the flood caused damage to the oakland police department all the way to the first-floor lobby. more than 50 offices were temporarily move during the cleanup. the cost of the damage is estimated to $250,000. vandals have targeted a

major freeway sign creating a potentially confusing situation for motorists. caltrans is now looking into whether the sign can be salvaged. >> drivers call it an eyesore. >> i think it's dangerous and stupid and the vandals should go to jail. >> reporter: they struck this sign on 880 northbound just before the macarthur maze. >> it's just stupid. >> reporter: this shows how vandals can do this within minutes. they blocked out so much of the sign that drivers could get oriented. drivers did this late friday night and early saturday morning when they weren't so visible. no word how long it will take to get it removed. if they can't remove the graffiti, they will have to order a new one. motorists say tagging takes a

when the crime occurred, according to reports. it was a close call for ten women after lair narrowly escaping a -- after narrowly escaping a limo fire. the group was on their way to a birthday party when the vehicle burst into flames. the driver immediately pulled over and helped get everyone out in time. >> after i got everyone out, that black, black smoke was just bill localing out of the -- more of the front -- first third of the car. >> seven women and their three care tickers were shaken up -- takers were shaken up. no within was hurt. it appears there was an electrical problem. we have new details now on the man who claims to have leaked information about the government's massive cell phone and internet monitoring

program. edward snowdon says he's the person who told "the guardian" that the nsa has a wide-ranging program to collect data on cell and cyber transmissions. he says he's a former cia employee working as a contract analyst for the nsa and that he leaked the information in the interest of freedom. >> i'm just another guy who sits there day to day in the office, watches what's happening and goes, this is something that's not our place to decide. the public needs to decide whether these programs and policies are right or wrong. i'm willing to -- >> snowdon is holed up in a hotel room in hong kong and is seeking asylum there. he says he believes he could spend years in prison about releasing this information. the wait continues for a ruling on california avenue proposition 8. today, the supreme court issued several rulings but nothing regarding the state's ban on same-sex marriage. the high court typically issues

rulings on mondays and thursdays but has until the end of the month to issue a decision. however, analysts caution that the legal wrangling won't be over on prop 8 even after the decision comes down. vice president joe biden is coming to san francisco later this week. he's scheduled to appear at a fund-raising breakfast at the home of doug hickey on friday. the breakfast had originally been scheduled for next monday but the date was changed late last week. tickets for the fund-raiser start at $500. $2500 will buy you a photo with the vice president. it was an interesting start to the day. at this hour, plenty of activity still going on around the state. for our area, the possibility of showers and thunderstorms is diminishing, although we will leave in a slight chance for perhaps a few sprinkles for the rest of today. i'm going to show you just where that activity continues

in the foothills for the sierra and for the areas near reno, nevada. this will continue in this direction for today. for us, we will be partly cloudy for the afternoon. olre where it is feeling a little mild, it might feel muggy because we do have plenty of moisture in place. see the clouds here. if i scooch in a little closer on the areas east of san jose, we've got a little bit of light rain reported in areas right around evergreen, metcalf road and then i'm shifting north. this is the only area i'm seeing a few scattered showers right now in the areas around sebastopol, santa rosa and windsor. this is actually part of the north bay, that's where we saw some accumulated rain. anywhere from a few 100ths in and around santa rosa. but you had to get farther like to lake county and in the central valley as well as parts of the sierra to really see some of that rainfall accumulation. >> this system is going to continue north and east.

this is why we're sort of seeing this type of motion here. it's moving from east to west. and that is going to be winding down as we get into the afternoon. but we're going to remain with the possibility of maybe a few scattered showers. the clouds will be in and out of sun for today. 67 for oakland right now. 64 san francisco. 63 in novato. asntinues to trek north and east, possibility for us to receive any showers as well as thunderstorms. 65 santa rosa, 65 for san rafael. low to mid-60s for parts of the east bay. 64 in oakland. 62 san francisco. sliding into the south bay for san jose, 72 los gatos, 68 for santa cruz. the extended forecast here so today cool, breezy with the light possibility of showers and then winding down by the evening. tomorrow will be a lot quieter but it will be a bit breezy. temperatures will warm slightly

stocks close to flat. taking a live look at the dow, currently down 5. the nasdaq up 2 and s&p down 1. a tie verse group of community members in -- diverse group of community members are teaming up to save a special bookstore. marcus books has been opened in san francisco since 1960. it's the oldest black-owned bookstore in the country. it's currently facing eviction from the fillmore street location. the urge is group -- the group is urging the property owners to sell the building at a reasonable price to westside community services society marcus books can stay in the western edition neighborhood. >> i really appeal to the family that's purchased this property. we've made an aoffer to try to -- made an offer to try to negotiate. they've asked that they be
