you from driving on four. that looks good. back to the desk. we have been following this an early morning fire send a family out of their home. and alex savage joins us. you have been out there all morning, what are the firefighters saying about that fire? >> i can tell you that a chief says that this is possibly suspicious. that's mainly because of the fact it broke out in this home behind us that was empty at the time. the flames spread and set the lot on fire. the flames jumped to the right. this started this morning and the first firefighters called

for more engines. more than 75 firefighters were called out here to hudson avenue. six people were forced from their home taft caught fire but they were able to get out. they are okay. but the homes have heavy damage and this was a challenging call for the firefighters who got here. it was hard to tell what was burning. >> we didn't know there was a carport. two were fully involved. and so it took recreating using imagery to see what was going on. >> there was a firefighter who was hurt out here battling the flames. he is being treated for a minor leg injury after he put his foot through a deck. investigators are looking for clue was may have started this fire. it's not being called suspicious but it is

interesting to have an emi home catch fire in the middle of the night. >> and thank you. and new this morning a police warning. and we go to the to the campus to find out what a happening when the student was in the classroom. >> reporter: it is summer session so campus is quiet. that was the case when she was studying at the duncan hall of science on the second floor. she was alone and police say around 10 last night a man entered the room she was in, room 205. he made some small talk and asked her out on a date and police say he pulled down his pants and exposed himself. she grabbed her phone and call the police. he took off towards the second floor elevator lobby. the victim describes him as

hispanic, 20 to 25, 5'6" and weighing around 150 pounds. he was unshaven. he was seen tearing a teal sharks hat white shirt and jeans. and her cell phone didn't work because it is a cement building. police say if that happens, use the blue light phones the university police phones to call for help. you can get help that way if your phone is not working. we have a call into the university, a spokesperson to see if there are any updates or changes to the campus security for the session. >> later today we expect to find out more about a gang crackdown. a news conference is scheduled by the district attorney to

announce 80 charges filed. four of the suspects are accused in the shooting of martin cachone. this afternoon san jose city lawmakers will vote on a budget. and the mayor outlined his recommendations. he says that the public safety is the concern. the police officers association said low morale and low pay makes it hard to keep officers around. >> the mayor needs to keep the police officers in san jose. they are leaving faster than we can hire them. we're going to have less at the end of the year than we did at the start. >> it includes pay raises and bonuses for the veterans who are with the department. it does not include pay cuts. >> and we're finding out about the limo fire in walnut creek. the fire forced several women,

some in their 90s to rush out of the limo in a community of ross more. they were in a 2008 lincoln town car that is supposed to carry eight. there were ten women in the limo when it caught fire. meantime the owner of the company is praising how the driver responded. >> and when the smoke came out he got everyone out of the car. and you are talking people between 80 nobody was hurt, not a scratch. everyone went to the party. >> and the state suspended this limo company twice in the past two years. once for not having worker's compensation insurance on file and not having liability insurance on file. that fire come as month after five -- comes a month after five women were killed in a limo fire. now they are pushing for safety

self-defense after being attacked by him. he could get life in prison. we have new information about breaking news, three people are dead, seven injured after a suicide bombing at the afghan supreme court. police say it happened near the main gate of the u.s. embassy. and right now, anti- government protesters are clashing in turkey following a raid on the central square overnight. now this is the seen they fired the teargas and the video there the protests have spread to 78 cities across turkey. three people have died there. more than 5000 have been injured. and today's graduation ceremony at the college will be

an official memorial service. last night the victims from the deadly shooting were honored at this vigil. and a 23-year-old killed his father and brother before going to the campus at santa monica and shooting the students. five people were killed. the suspect was shot and killed by the police in the campus library. finals are held this week but the library remains closed. six months of a the connecticut shooting some of the families are heading back to captiol hill today, reminding lawmakers they are waiting for action on gun control laws. they have meetings scheduled with the house speaker and the majority leader. and the shooting massacre left 26 people dead, including 20 first graders. the senate is voting on whether or not to move ahead with debating immigration reform. and as we report from the news

room, they will get prodding from the president. >> reporter: the president is speaking next hour. he will call on congress to pass over a plan. this afternoon the senators take a vote to debate the gang of eight proposal. some will vote against reform. others will offer amendments requiring security to come before 11 million immigrants start on the pathway to membership. and there will be a plan submitted to congress in six months, increase the number of agents and apprehend 90% of those trying to cross illegally over the u.s. and mexico southern border. a plan will not happen overnight if passed. what the leaders have to say. that's next. shock for a beach visitor

who stumbled across mutilated bat rays. she tells she saw the rays yesterday morning. the fins had been cut off. and the park district said ta t has not received reports of the rays. it is asking anyone with information to contact them. and the oakland police investigating the discovery of a body found near the freeway. and they rushed to 23 and martin luther kingway yesterday. they made that grim discovery. they saw the body behind a fence just yards away from the bart tracks. it is believed the victim is a homeless person living under the freeway. so far there are no signs of foul play. and hon ca is -- honda is part of an investigation into air bag defects. the ntsb has been getting complaints of the bags deploying for no reason. honda odyssey mini vans. the vehicles are not recalled

yet. chrysler, toyota, gm have all recalled vehicles involving the same systems made by a japanese supplier. a new housing report shows competition is up in san francisco. online broker red fin reports that homeowners made in may competed with other offers for the home across the country and it is down from 73% in april. it is a different story in san francisco. 88% of all buyers face competition for the property they want, making san francisco the most competitive market in the country. and offers may be one reason many americans think now is a good time to sell a home a survey by fanny mae shows 40% of those think it is better to sell now. that's from up april. it could mean more homes are on the market which decrease the small inventory in many markets. that could slow the pace of the rising prices. and sal, you fixed everything on the east shore?

an empty lot here. the fire jumped to the second team next door. that's where a family was sleeping inside at the time. i'll show you a picture by a neighbor that shows a huge fire ball here. it was this morning. this is on hudson avenue. that's in the bay view district. and people were forced from their home taft caught fire. but they were -- in their home after it caught fire. they were able to get out. i spoke with a woman who got out of the home. she said her granddaughter woke her up as it spread to their home. >> the light, i thought -- i saw a table -- a table fall. i feel heat. they said the scious on fire. we have to go. >> reporter: more than 70 firefighters were called out

here, the first units on the scene saw how large it was and they called for more engines. they were in the process a firefighter who was hurt. he is being treated now at the hospital. it is for a minor leg injury. he put his foot through a deck. and the houses that burned. one is empty. and there was a family inside. they will have to find a place to live for the time being. alex savage. a driver accused of killing his wife and son in a crash could enter a plea today. gilbert gill is charged with three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment was going 65 miles an hour in the zone when he lost control on tuesday and hit a tree. witnesses say he was arguing with his wife before that crash. >> when they went by me, you know, it was -- the people don't go by like that unless there is something going on.

>> gil has been convicted previously of three felonies. >> they include possessing a controlled substance. commercial burglary and corporal injury on a spouse. in san francisco police are launching a crackdown on muni buses after a rash of stunts. what some passengers are doing to slow down the service and the plan to deal with the problem. >> deadline in bart's labor negotiations is three weeks away. the agency has until the 30 together hammer out a deal or members could authorize a strike. we now go to a bart station with more on the story. >> reporter: the negotiations seem to come down to the 11th hour and many riders hope it will happen sooner rather than later because they said that it is political and they want to be spared the anxiety. now these negotiations affect more than 3000 workers including engineers, operators

and station agents. they are asking for a 23% raise over a three-year period. they want to contribute more to help in the pension benefits it needs to reinvest in capital improvements to deal with the aging system. the contract comes up every four years and it is frustrating not only for the riders but the workers. >> we have constantly. we're blamed all the time, some of the time for the increases. and it is unfair to us because it puts news a light where it because of our pay. we have not received a raise. we have not received a raise in eight years. >> we're trying to make sure that bart has money for ten years to buy new trains. we're trying to buy 1000 to meet the growing demand. we want a new control system. what that means is that we would run 30 trains to the tube every hour as opposed to 22 trains. this comes down to the long-

fires. cal fire said the dange ser not over. there can be some strikes that left embers smoldering. >> we could have some what we call the sleeping lightning strikes out there in the heavier fuels that heat up and we get some fires out of there. >> cal fire said it is dangerous this is a dry year here in california. future graduation ceremonies in the liberty union district will be held at night time because of all the heat concerns. that's according to the local paper 678925 people were treated for heat related illnesses at freedom high and heritage high in brentwood. they started at 9:30 but by then the temperatures were already in the 90s. and commencement at liberty high is held at night. and we have some breaking news now out of atlanta. airport officials say an explosion in the shed -- a shed

at the airport has knocked out power to a concourse. we're looking live here at the airport there in atlanta. and the it is concourse d. it has been evacuated. it's not confirmed if this is causing any delays but we expect that that probably would. the concourse has been evacuated. now we're going to follow this in the news room, looking live in atlanta, an explosion at a shed nearby. now the other thing to keep in mind. >> that's a major hub. >> a lot of flights go in through atlanta, stop off there. and go other places. this could have an impact across the country. >> and here in the bay area because of the domino effect. >> and it's not over yet. the newspaper that broke that story the nsa phone record story says there is more to come. what the reporter has to say about the fate of his source.

burn off. 60s, 70s, 80s. welcome back. here is a look at some of the top stories we're following for you now at 6:45. a big fire in san francisco's bay view district. damaging two homes. and the firefighters say the flames there started in the house on hudson avenue. then spread to a carport and jumped to a second house where a family of six was asleep. everyone escaped safely. this morning the president will rally support for an immigration bill. he will appear at the white house with other supporters of reform including law enforcement representatives and business and labor leaders. and the santa clara district attorney will announcement a crackdown on gangs. 80 charges have been filed against 48 members of one gang. they range from selling meth to murder. and the state university is on high alert after man exposed

himself to a student inside a classroom. we go tkpwoá to campus and you are talking with people about why the school is so vulnerable. >> reporter: the school is close to downtown. and we have been walking around. there is not anyone here certainly not any students. we have spoken with people on campus and that's likely what happened last night when up stairs in the building, duncan hall, a woman was studying when she was approached by a man. it was around 10 last night. he entered room 205 where she was studying. he made small talk, asked her out on a date. then he pulled down his pants and exposed himself. she grabbed her phone and was going to call the police. he took off to the second floor elevator lobby. we spoke with a man and asked if he was surprised by what happened. >> down here, not really. there is crazy stuff going on

but you never know. >> reporter: he said because of the proximity to downtown, campus see as lot of people who are not students. the victim is -- victim described him as 25 years old, 5'6" to 5'7", weighing around 150 pounds. he was unshaven. the man was seen wearing a sharks hat, baggy white shirt and jeans. back out here live, the police say that the woman had difficulty using her phone. there was bad reception, so the blue university police phones on campus are really important for students if there is an emergency and you cannot use your phone, you need to use those and some other phone. and that man has not been found as of this morning so the university is on high alert. live in campus. >> review of the program that tracks phone and internet messages around the world.

the 27 members of the european parliament are concerned that the u.s. spy program has violated european privacy protections and the german chancellor will bring up the issue with the president when he travels to berlin next week. meantime, the reporter who broke the story on the classified programs leaked by edward snowden said there will be more revelations to come. the guardon said it has more documents. the reporter said that he knew the consequences of his actions. he checked out of his hong kong hotel after going public with his identity. the justice department is preparing to charge snowden with disclosing classified information. 6:49 jumping off moving muni buses. it is a growing problem in san francisco. and passengers are at risk. and it has happened 15 times. and passengers forcing open the back doors of the buses and
