and we are trying to prevent that from happening happening to someone else. finding these people helps us and helps the neighborhood, helps the people around you. >> reporter: police are reviewing surveillance cameras from the area. they are offering a reward up to $10,000 to solve the case. paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. a woman is dead after a freak accident. she was riding her bike when she was crushed by a truck. two trucks slammed into each other this morning. the truck tipped over and crushed the bike rider who was in the sidewalk at the time. investigators are trying to determine who might be at fault. no word on the victim's name. six people, including a 11- year-old are safe after a

boating accident. ktvu's rob roth is live with the key decision that helped saved lives here. rob? >> reporter: it was a happy ending to what could have been a tragic day here off the coast. >> reporter: a member of the harbor patrol was cleaning up the boat this ternpeople from a sinking sink boat. this is what the boat looked like moments after -- sinking boat. this is what the boat looked like moments after. >> we went out to help the people. >> the six people were from the central valley. they were fishing two miles out from pillar point when the boat got into trouble. >> the boat went dead in the water. could not move anymore. the water gone over the engine

and stopped it from working. >> reporter: the people made it safely on to the rescue boat. >> if we were 10 minutes later we would have six people in the water. >> reporter: two minutes later the boat sank. >> sad part was the young guy there, i think he was 11, beginning of his summer, he was looking forward to fishing. it was great to see them on dry land and nobody getting hurt. >> reporter: it is not clear what caused the failure on the boat. the harbor patrol says it will remain at the bottom of the ocean. rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. police identified the two men who were shot to death over night in san francisco. the bodies were found near a

park just before 1:00 a.m. this morning. both men are gang members and were found shot multiple times. investigators are looking for the shooters seen driving off in a white truck. in san jose police are investigating a deadly stabbing. a man was found stabbed this morning. police say it is the same block where the victim lived. investigators don't have suspects or a motive for the stabbing. this is the 24th homicide of the year. three nursing homes are facing fines in connection with the deaths of three people. ktvu's john sasaki is live with startling details from a state report. john? >> reporter: this is the facility where 2-1/2 years ago a resident died by bleeding to death. the company that was encarnal is being fined 7,000 -- in

charge is being fined $70,000. >> reporter: as of march it is no longer operated by them. in 2010 a male resident died by bleeding to death. according to this report workers, including a nurse did almost nothing to stop it. it mentions the nurse who stated i don't know. i am blank. one said there was blood ever where. the report said they didn't apply pressure, allowing the resident to bleed to death. it came with a citation. also fined today was the hospital in san jose and the center in castro valley. they were fined $65,000 and they were fined $60,000. live, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. traffic is flowing on

highway 24 after a big rig fire caused a major back up. transporting 9 vehicles it caught fire this morning. flames spread to many cars loaded on the truck. the driver wasn't injured. the california highway patrol shut down four lanes and traffic backed up for miles, back into concord nearby 680. all of the lanes on 24 reopened about 10:00 a.m. this morning. back to work at the new 49ers stadium for crews morning the death of a colleague. they observed a moment of silence for donald white before starting up their equipment. he was struck on the head by a weight tuesday and died. workers had stickers on their helmet to pay tribute. >> our workers we gathered this

morning but our thoughts and prayers are with donald white's family. >> crews passed a bucket around to raise money for the family. he leaves behind four sons. cal-osha continues to investigate the accident. police in san francisco are trying to crack down on onunusual robbery ring -- on an unusual robbery ring. ktvu's david stevenson talked with investigators who said they are recognizable from their clothes, right? >> reporter: that's right. stores have been hit several times by the robbers but it is difficult to stop them. >> reporter: high end stores in san francisco say they could see them coming from a mile away. >> we have to be on our toes. >> reporter: known for three years as the rainbow girls. 6-9 young african american women, some who have bright

park sold for $82,000. almost $603 per square foot. the agent told ktvu channel 2 news it is a good indication of where the san francisco market is headed. bay area home prices continue to rise last month for the 12 month in a row. they were up 1.8% in may and up 30% from a year ago. the median price is $519. a meeting today between tech companies wrapped up with a wish to end cell phone thefts. they met with officials from apple, google, microsoft and samsung in new york today. after the meeting they said they have launched a new program called sos for secure our smart phones and they are

asking all of the companies to use technology to make a stolen device unusable within a year. google says 80% of consumers use their smart phones while shopping. research shows shoppers prefer going to a store's mobile website rather than their app. google says it suggests brick and mortar stores need to embrace smart phones and improve their mobile sites and apps. a family woke up this morning to see an unusual visitor. a black bear. ktvu's lorraine blanco is live where the family worked to protect their pets. >> reporter: a big bear in your backyard is a big deal. especially if you have thousands of dollars in fancy fish there. a teen stepped in so that she could make sure those fish wouldn't become their sushi.

beep the horn again. >> okay. thank you. a bill aimed at regulating the oil and gas extraction process failed at the state capital. it would have required companies to provide a complete list of chemtuals used, how much -- chemicals used, how much water used and how much was disposed of. another fracking bill that requires permitting, public notifications and a scientific study of risks is still moving through the legislator. a slap in the face for voters. they are upset over a deal. the state would borrow $500 million from cap and trade auctions and pay frusocial programs slashed by -- pay for social programs slashed by
