in vacaville on ferrell, one person is being arrested at the scene and, that car is completely a mess there. watch for chp activity right there. time now 6:01 we have breaking news coming in from san fransisco, several people have been hurt this morning, taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a forklift at a produce terminal. katie utehs is there right now to tell us what happened and why this could have been a dangerous situation. >> reporter: within the last half hour tow truck drivers have righted the forklift that was knocked over. this is where the collision happened on this busy city street that intersections the produce market. you can see the traffic that's going through here within the last half hour. i've watched a pedestrian cross and yell at delivery trucks and vehicles for zooming through the area. you can see from the taj to the

vehicle how -- damage to the vehicle how people involved would be injured. we know the forklift driver and possibly two passengers in the vehicle were injured. the forklift was knocked over in the crash. it's unclerihew caused the collision, a public street does cross through the produce shipping yard. i've heard multiple people complaining about seeing cars. we have learned the city is planning to renovate the produce market and move the public city street out of this busy shipping area. back out here live you can see they have cleared this collision scene and we are currently working to find out the extent of the injuries of the people involved. we have calls in to police, investigators also to find out the latest on how this accident happened. live in san fransisco, katie utehs ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:0 #. oakland fire investigators looking into an early morning house fire there. it started in the rear of a house on 73rd avenue and international boulevard about 1:00 this morning. firefighters say no one was home. it started in the rear of the

house. yesterday afternoon police were at that very same house. they were investigating graffiti on the house that included a homophobic slur and then the words stop snitching. now police went back to that house this morning. they're now checking to see whether that fire and the graffiti may be connected. a beach boat in richmond has sparked outrage among residents who want it removed. it's at the marina bay park and that's where we find channel 2 reporter tara moriarty with more on why part parents are concerned. >> sea buckles are keeping this boat tied to the rocks. what has people so upset, this is a pathway, and just up over the ridge is a children's park. it's a popular spot and that's what has so many parents outraged. the 37-foot boat is ship wrecked here at the tip of marina bay. o's owned by a registered sex offender, donald olson. we're not going to mention the

boat's name which is sexually suggestive. it broke free from anchor and drifted. he is out of jail but his boat's still here. neighbors have been pressuring police to get rid of it. while police have jurisdiction over the boat they can't tow it because there's a hole and it's taking on water. olson has until june 24th to claim it. coming up find out why olson is not on a megan's law web site and we spoke to a neighbor. hear what he has todd to say about this orr indictment live from richmond i'm care stair tear. attorneys for a man who stole a luxury yacht from a sausalito harbor are calling him delusional. in march 62-year-old leslie gardner stole the yacht and sailed to pacifica. the other two people say gardner said it was his body

both and -- it was his boat. attorneys say he believe it was his boat. he is due back in the court at the end of the month. police in pittsburgh have released a photo of a man suspected of a homicide. 24-year-old rob et grant is considered armed and dangerous. investigates believe he's hiding out san fransisco in san fransisco. he's accused of shooting 20- year-old timothy smith in pittsburgh last january. the killer escaped. they've made several arrests in connection with to the case including grantees brother. 6:06. there are two big job vacancies in san jose. fire chief willie macdonald announced he's stepping down as fire chief after three years on the job. the firefighter has been hired to become the new fire chief of las vegas. mcdonald's admits it's been a rough few year for san jose firefighters with budget cuts, pay cuts and other problems. he insists that's not why he's

leaving. >> really my time here in san jose has been excellent and i really will miss it. it's more about an opportunity there. mcdonald will take pay cut. right now he makes about $200,000 a year. he'll make just 150,000 a year in las vegas. mcdodged becomes the second -- mcdonald becomes the second public safety leader to step down. in january chris moore retired as the san jose police chief. time now is 6:07. let's go right out to sal. i ordered the friday light earlier. we'll see if he's delivering. one of the viewers posted on my facebook does sal deliver. pressure's on. >> the pressure's on and i would have to say that yes a little bit claudine. for the most part we're doing well. there are a couple of things out there where you will see slowing. we're off to a good start on this friday. let's take look at what we have now with some of these

pictures. this is highway 4 to the willow pass grade. the traffic here is not that bad. it's moving along nicely here, no problems. westbound 24 is moving along pretty well, getting through. and the traffic continues to look pretty good if you are driving to the tunnel. i want to mention that traffic is going to be light in san jose. i was just talking on the phone with some of the police dispatchers. we're trying to chase down a situation in san fransisco. gibson canyon road at ferrell, a car ran into a tree. that car has to be towed away. let's go to rosemary. good morning afternoon highs soaring above the seasonal average. some of the warmth numbers we've seen so far this week. let's take a look from up above. high clouds drifting ahead. those high clouds help to offset the cooling this morning, and our temperatures are up by several degrees in some casesful avenue.

we'll look at those numbers in just a in a moment. i want to point you to this trough that's going to move closer to the coast and by tomorrow we'll feel its impacts talking about an onshore breeze and a cool down for your weekend. mostly sunny skies for today, a ridge of high pressure in place. some of our hottest areas will touch 90 degrees this afternoon. by tomorrow the morning clouds will be back. the onshore breeze will be stronger. our temperatures will take a notable drop for the afternoon. let me show you what happens here. this is a track of the low clouds that we're not seeing this morning, not any patchy fog out there. by 4:00 a little bit tries to develop. it takes until tomorrow morning, the morning cloud and i expect they'll be with us for father's day starting out mostly cloudy, especially around thest cost line. widespread 50s around the bay area, inland east bay, 67 for antioch, a warm start for you. afternoon highs for today a few degrees above yesterday's

time now 6:13. in san fransisco we are watching a controversial piece of open space targeted by occupy protesters. they vow they're going to take back that land at 6:00 tonight. police cleared that site yesterday morning, and then last night protesters came back. they confronted the police. while a man was arrested other

protesters tried to block the treat around the field that used to be known as the haste valley farm. one man said he was one of the tree sitters arrested yesterday morning and said the police gave him a black eye. >> they beat me up when my hands were behind my back, punched me repeatedly, hit me over the head with things. >> police are insisting they did nothing wrong. police officers guarded that area during the night. developers are planning to build housing on this contested land the protesters want it to remain a farm. two people have died in a series of powerful storms sweeping through the mid- atlantic states. we want to show you video from montgomery county maryland. look at that. one of the hardest hit areas, the storms hit with slightly less force than they originally feared but there was still a lot of heavy rain, strong winds, hail the size of golf balls and self-powerful tornadoes. new this morning, the syrian government is calling

the u.s. government liers. the white house confirmed the assad regime is using chemical weapons. >> claudine president obama promised last year if the u.s. found prof they were using chemical weapons it would be a game changer. the white house confirmed the assad regime has killed at least 100 to 150 people using chemical weapons. officials say that number is likely higher. the syrian government dismissed these claims this morning saying the obama administration is "full of lies." . syrian leaders say the u.s. is resorting to cheap tack tings to justify president obama's decision to arm the remembers. i heard -- to arm the remembers. the longer. >> ther this war goes, the more likely the chemical weapons can be used not just against

syrians but against us and others. >> the united nations says over the last two years august loan, the regime has killed more than 90,000 people. the bloodshed in syria is expected to be the focus of an upcoming g8 summit when president obama heads to europe for that meeting. the presidential election in iran is being extended until 8:040 this morning pacific time. they're staying open because of a heavy turnout. western observers say the election is rigged. the analysts don't expect the win tore make dramatic changes but will likely be less confrontational than the outgoing leader. time now 6:16. we have new details this morning about last week's shooting rampage in santa monica where five people were

killed. john zawahri left a farewell note. he expressed remorse for killing his father and brother and said he hopes someone would take care of his mother. in his bedroom police say they recovered replica weapons and zip funs. investigators say zawahri tried to buy a weapon in 2011 but the state ruled him ineligible. he killed five people last friday in santa monica before the police killed him. this morning investigators north of sacramento are trying to figure out how three bodies ended up in a burning car. two of the bodies were found in the trunk, a third one was found in the backseat. that burning car was found on skyway road in ma gal yay west of chico. this happened thursday morning. the car was reported stolen from sacramento two days earlier. today president obama will announce a new push to expand high speed wireless internet across the country. the president will order federal sergeant psys be

agencies be more efficient. the president sees the the fast growing wireless industry as a souse of new jobs -- as a source of new jobs. the president is going to announce an investment in providing more wi-fi capacity and advanced communications. another bay area high-tech company unmajor layoffs. security software company symantec says it's cutting jobs as part of a reorganization. the company has not said how many people will lose their jobs but analysts expect about 1700 jobs will be cut. their announcement follows 900 layoffs announced by sunnyvale data storage company in may and 520 by zynga earlier this month. let's get you out the door, get you moving. sal so far no big problems like we had yesterday morning. >> no, yesterday we had those huge problems on highway 24. we don't have anything like that fortunately. this is a look at the bay

bridge toll plaza. i can look through and tell you that traffic is only backed up for a 5 to 10 minute delay. san fransisco itself northbound 101, that looks good, you might want to avoid that corner of -- o farrell near have viz dare row for police activity in that area. there goes caltrans, caltrans is reported on time. let's go to rosemary. partly cloudy start out there, temperatures warmer than where we started yesterday by a few degrees, anywhere from 3 to 6 degrees in most cases. a beautiful start to the day, those high clouds drifting over and will continue for today. ridge of high pressure building in, but it's going to be a brief warmup. temperatures will begin to cool for your weekend. here's a look at what you can expect getting outside, widespread 50s out there right now. even some of our inland areas in the mid to upper 60s. antioch, fairfield, a fairly quick warmup expected for today and by the lunch hour we're looking at 50s at the coast.

60s and 70s around the bay, low to mid-70s for oakland, hayward, fremont and our inland areas into the low 80s. for your lunch hour, this is what you can expect for the afternoon. 87 santa rosa, 83 for san rafael, upper 70s to low 80s around the bay. upper 80s to near 90 for our warmest communities inland. the extended forecast here, the cooldown begins as early as tomorrow morning. we're going to wake up with low clouds at the coast, the onshore breeze will be stronger and for the afternoon you'll feel that notable difference. sunday going to be the coolest day for father's day. happy father's day to all our fathers. monday, tuesday, the cooling trend will continue with afternoon highs in the upper 70s for our inland communities. the apple executive at the center of the antitrust lawsuit over e-book prices says the company never cared about what prices they charged. eddie cue says he wasn't surprised when they raised their prices for new and best

selling titles but he says apple did not hike e-book costs. apple is the only company left in the antitrust suit. the publishers agreed to out of court settlements. a bizarre scene of a plane crash in southern california. look at this, what went wrong here during a routine test that led to this incredible scene. >> oh, my. oh, those poor people, it was me. >> and that homeowner in atherton finds out his home is up in flames, who alerted firefighters and who helped save most of his home. you kids should count yourselves lucky.

divisadero. a man in atherton is thanking a dog walker for helping save his home. his house caught fire yesterday afternoon. when fire crews got there a carport was engulfed in flames. a dog walker had seen the fire and started screaming. that alerted neighbors who called 9-1-1. firefighters were able to contain that fire to the carport, a pat arrow and a patio and a shed. a neighbor's home had damage to a roof. that cause is under investigation. check out this video from southern california. that corporate jet as you can see ended up inside a hangar. the million dollar jet was undergoing a routine engine

test but it apparently rolled over the rubber stops that were holding it in place and then it slammed into that hangar. the officers inside that -- offices inside that building closed before the accident. there was no one inside. there were maintenance borickers on the plane but they weren't hurt. 6:24, violent solar flares on the sun have grabbed the attention of nasa. it's a sight to see, but it's also causing major concerns. last month nasa say there were 16 large solar flares sending radiation into the solar system. scientists say solar weather can get so bad it can knock out satellites here on earth. it's possible that it can affect cell phone service, communications satellites power grids can go down. if there's a blackout that can be caused by some of these solar storms as well. >> so you can see this is major. later this month nasa is scheduled to launch a mission to help scientists better understand the sun's lower atmosphere and explain why there's an increase in all that

solar activity. a memorial luncheon will be held to celebrate the long life of one of the 1906 earthquake survivors, winnie hook died. she was 107 years old. she attended the annual commemoration of the great quake last year. she was an infant when that earthquake struck. there are now only two survivors of the 1906 earthquake still living. 107-year-old william dell monte and ruth newman. let's head right out to sal for a look at the roads. we're starting in the south bay and looking at interstate 280 northbound, right here at the 880 interchange, just as we suspected it has remained quiet. as we look at the santa claire clara valley, 101, looking good. the morning commute on 680 southbound looks good. improvement on westbound 580 through dublin after much

happened and people in the area saying they're not surprised. >> reporter: it is very busy down here, i'll show you where this collision happened right here. this is a public street and the forklift where that crosswalk, that's where the forklift and car collided. you can see people driving in one direction and if we look at other direction a semitruck is parked coming at under under us. it's quite confusing for public vehicles, so public vehicles drive through here. i've seen people, pedestrians yell at people speeding through the area. pedestrians almost getting hit just in the time we've been down here. if you take a look at the video our photographer shot short by before 5 you can see from the damage to the vehicle how people involved would be injured. we know the forklift driver and possibly like you said the two passengers in the vehicle were injured. the forklift was knocked over. we do have reports that the car was going fast. we've also seen forklifts zooms

through here as well. it's hard to tell what caused the accident. and we've also learned that the city is planning to renovate the produce market and move the public city street which is jared avenue out of here. it does cross through the shipping yard, so again very busy out here. we're still working to confirm the extent of those injuries, you know, from people who have talked about seeing the collision, they just kind of said it was really bad. you can see from the video the extent of the damage. live in san fransisco katie utehs ktvu channel 2 news. 6:32. new this morning, police and fire officials in oakland investigating two incidents at one house involving graffiti and a small fire. ktvu's brian flores is in oakland to tell us more about whether these incidents may be connected. >> reporter: good morning dave. officials have not come out and said that both of these incidents are related but at the very least it's suspicious

that one home was targeted with graffiti yesterday afternoon and early this morning a small fire broke out damaging parts of the home as well. this home is on the 1400 block of 73rd avenue. we are not showing a lot of graffiti on the house that was talked yesterday afternoon. but it includes a homophobic slur and the phrase stop snitching. police investigators are on that case. fire investigators are also on the case because at 12:45 this morning at the same home a small fire broke out. firefighters tell ktvu it appears that it started from the outside and damaged a portion of the back porch. what is adding more to the suspicious nature is the fact nobody was home at the time which if they were it might suggest it might have been an accident. we understand a spray can't can was found in bushes nearby. crews had to board up the doors because it wouldn't secure. we continue to make pope calls to investigators this morning. so far we have not heard back. as soon as we do we'll pass that along. we are live here in oakland,

i'm brian flores ktvu channel 2 news. 6:33, a $5000 reward is being offered by an east bay family who want to catch the man who shot and killed their son an hour before his 23rd birthday. wednesday night there was a fender bender in north oakland that escalated into a deadly shooting, the victim area nada toe got out of his car, exchanged information with the other driver. there was an argument and one of the two men in the other car shot and killed nakato. a woman who did not want her face shown on television then drove up to that scene. >> why did you do that? >> because i would want somebody to do that for me or my family. >> yesterday was nakato's 23rd birthday. officials tell us as he was down on the ground as he was dying he got a phone call from his mother. the investigation goes on.

the two suspects reportedly were seen leaving the scene in a four-door silver sedan. residents in richmond want a boat removed from shore after it crashed a few weeks ago. that boat is sitting at the park and tara moriarty learned about the boat's owner and why so many people are upset. >> reporter: the boat is tied up to the docks, the rocks behind me, and it's an eyesore. that's not why neighbors are so upset. it's because of that. that's a pathway right over there where a lot of families walk and over the hill a playground. many parents are uncomfortable with the registered sex offenders boat stranded at the shoreline. the 37-foot boat is ship wrecked at vincent park and feet from that playground. it's owned by donald olson a man in his 50s who was living on the boat which has a name we won't reveal because it's sexually suggestive. the trouble began two months ago when the boat broke free from anchor and drifted. olson was arrested for failing

to register his whereabouts but he's out of jail and his boat is here. neighbors have been pressuring police to get rid of it. >> thank goodness my kids are older now and there are a lot of people i've talked to and they're upset and want the boat moved. >> reporter: police have jurisdiction over the boat but can't tow it because there's a hole in it and is taking on water. olson has until june 24th to claim it. olson is not on the megan's life database and that's because the law has exceptions for defenders convicted of misdemeanors some of the neighbors say that's little comfort to them. live from richmond i'm tara moriarty. we're learning that a major contractor is in line for a big bonus if the bay bridge opens on time. the contractor building the

signature suspension span is going to get an extra $20 million if the bridge opens to traffic this labor day weekend. it's part of a plan to get the bridge back on track. many state lawmakers are worried the bonus could lead to a risky rush to completion. a group of california lawmakers has introduced a bill that would name the western span of the bay bridge after a former san fransisco mayor and house speaker. the official name would be the willy brown junior bridge. time now 6:37. let's get you going this morning. sal how'd you get all the drivers to calm down on this friday morning? >> yeah, you know we've been lucky i think, dave. we've had very light traffic dave and claudine in many areas. of course we've had a couple of incidents but for the most part it looks pretty good on 80 westbound as you head out to

the macarthur maze with no major problems. you get to the bay bridge toll plaza and it's backed up for a 5 minute delay, 5 minute before you make it on to the bridge and taffeta it's okay. we're looking at santa clara valley in the south bay. traffic looks good on 880, 101 and 17 and off to a good start. hopefully it will stay this way on this friday. 6:37. it's a pretty day. good morning you, tgif, a live look over the pay. you can see just a little bit of humid air pulling in. we have a northerly drier flow in place for today and our air mass will be warming as well. today going to be the the warmest day. 59 in fairfield, 54 in livermore, inland east bay, areas like brentwood, antioch well into the mid to upper 60s. the only cool spot i can find on this map, 43 degrees at half- moon pay, we are relatively free of any cloud cover out

there when it comes to the patchy fog as well as the low cloud deck. what we have seen all morning long are high clouds moving across the area, and those high clouds offset our cooling earlier this morning, and temperatures are warmer than where we were 24 hours ago. that in addition to a northerly breeze, that is setting up for today. the only area i see with very breezy conditions right oaf the mount diablo hills. outside of that, right here at the surface our winds are relatively calm and light. high clouds streaming in today and we will be mostly sunny. for the afternoon i want to back us up a little bit. show you what's happening for today and into the weekend. the trough that lingered off the coastline for the week, that has just passed now off to the east. we have a ridge of high pressure building in. it won't last very long. we have this system that will

store last year is fueling this debate. >> reporter: we've been talking to people outside the town hall and we've been getting differing opinions on how the council should regulate q1 sales. the gun store at templar sports is asking people to oppose the new regulation that los gatos is proposing the owners of the templar sports are concerned and say the new firearm ordinance can negatively impact the store's existence and any future shops in los gatos even though templar complied with the laws and regulations it faced backlash from a group of community members. town official haves brainstormed if and how it should regulate gun dealers because concernly there isn't a town ordinance. dealers have to follow state and federal laws. a preliminary draft of the new ordinance has templar sports concerned because it includes a provision that templar will not be grandfathered in and would be required to renew its permit

disappeared in the water. a dive team rushed there pulling people out of the water. police say all the patrons of the sports bar are accounted for. investigators want to know what caused that collapse. the most destructive wildfire in the state of colorado's history has become deadly. the fire started tuesday afternoon near colorado springs. it has since burned about 16,000 acres, destroyed 370 homes and now two people have died. high winds and smoke from the fire closed down two runways at denver international airport and flights have been diverted. firefighters are expecting more problems with the high temperatures and strong winds. the fire's only 5% contained right now. the sheriff says since two deaths have occurred this is now a criminal investigation. the british government has issued an alert to airlines around the world urging them not to allow former u.s. intelligence contractor edward snowden to board flights to the
