from san francisco police, we found 60 cases of cell phone robberies so far this month and there are a few more just today. >> reporter: they didn't know but these women were walking down an alley off of mission street where a man's cell phone was the target of a robbery earlier this morning. >> reporter: are you worried? >> no. >> reporter: just a few blocks away another person was hit after 3:30 a.m. it was the 63 cell phone robbery in san francisco this month. police say two suspects with a gun approached the victim d manding money and -- demanding money and his cell phone. going through every san francisco crime report in june, half of them involved a cell phone. so far this month there have been 16 reported cell phone robberies in the mission district alone. more than any other neighborhood. bay view had the second most

fremont. one suspect made his first court appearance as the search goes on for his wife. ktvu's alex savage was in court and learned the case may be the tip of the ice burg. >> reporter: investigators tell me the women were moved around the world and more arrests could be coming soon. one of the pimps involved in the international operation went before a judge. >> reporter: facing charges of pimping and human trafficking, zhi liu appeared in court. zhi liu and his wife ran a brothel out of their san francisco apartment. other brothels were busted in fremont and san francisco. what has been uncovered so far is just the tip of the ice

seas his attorney says. they are working to find his wife, she is facing the same charges as her husband but she remains on the run. live, alex savage, ktvu channel 2 news. the search for a kayaker believed to have drowned has been suspected because they don't have enough money to continue the search. they have been looking for him since sunday. police say it looks like he took off his life jacket to swim to shore before he disappeared under the water. police are trying to find more money to resume the search. three people charged could be responsible for other burglaries on the peninsula and south bay. police arrested them last week. a police officer who stopped them for a traffic violations

discovered their car was linked to a burglary. police found several peoples of stolen property in the car and the suspects homes tying them to other burglaries. lawyers saying inmates in psychiatrist wards are not given adequate care or attention. they want a judge to increase the over sight of the programs. lawyers say lack of staff may have contributed to the recent deaths of two inmate. officials say the state is giving proper care. a 56-year-old man stabbed to death for no apparent reason. the three people accused of killing gregorio ogana had their day in court today. ktvu's robert handa has more. >> reporter: as we reported at 5:00 p.m., the three suspects in that homicide were charged here today, and that included a

17-year-old that will be tried as an adult. it is a case that is causing a lot of grief. >> reporter: this picture looks different than the mugshot of cassandra reyes. she is one of three people charged in the stabbing death. police say robert alvarez and a 17-year-old were also arrested. but her sister says she was with the group and insists only robert alvarez was involved in the violence. >> i feel that it is terrible what happened and i just feel like, you know, they didn't have nothing to do with it. >> the family of the victim gregorio ogana didn't want to comment but his nephew said the family is still in pain from the loss of gregorio ogana but thank goodness justice has been

served. they robbed him and killed him. >> typically people instill fear and rob a person. in this case the suspect chose to go ahead and stab the victim. >> reporter: they say trying a juvenile as an adult is sometimes necessary. >> it is important to send a strong message. >> reporter: the three suspects are held without bail and return to court july 11. records on why they were arrested have been sealed by the court. live in san jose, robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. san jose police today released the name of a bicyclist killed by a hit-and- run driver. he died after he was hit from behind by an suv. the vehicle is a 2000 model dodge durango or dakota.

the suv is dirty white, light gray or silver. richmond joins other cities in banning single use plastic bags. stores will have to charge 5 cents if they take a paper bag. it takes effect next january. the water district says it is not making any decisions about using herbicide. a grand jury report urged them to do so to reduce fire risk. they don't decide till a report is finished. that won't happen till december. city is taking a stand against makers of assault weapons. they approved a measure to bar it from investing in companies that manufacture guns. the measure is symbolic as there are no such investments by the city but leaders says it

oscar grant will be shown in oakland tomorrow night. the stars and director will be at the screening. the film won the grand jury prize. it opens on july 12. we learned today the dog that attacked a six-year-old boy has been euthanized. the family provided us this photo. it was taken a couple weeks ago. the family says there was never any sign the dog posed a danger. the dog bit the boy on the head as they played together. the boy later died at the hospital. the owner is the uncle and a police officer. no charges have been filed. the fate of gay marriage could be announced tomorrow, we will show you how people are preparing for any outcome.
