a decision definitively as they end the session at the end of the month. the supreme court makes decisions on mondays and thursday only and the decisions come down at the end of the month so we are keeping a close eye on it. supreme court could hold prop 8 which could make it illegal in the state and two they could dismiss the appeal which could lead to it being ill legal and third they could strike it down as being unconstitutional which could allow gay marriage being allowed in the state and it could say gay marriage is unconstitutional which could lead to it being allowed throughout the country. we spoke with a contra costa clerk, here is more. >> they will review the decision and issue guidelines and directions and we will go from there. >> the clerk anticipates a 20%

increase in weddings when and if a decision comes down and they would not issue licenses for same sex couples if it came down next week. keep in mind the supreme court decision includes proposition 8. we are keeping an eye on it and it's about affirmative action. a white female claims she was denied admission despite having better scores than minority students who were admitted. they both filed friend of the court briefs in support of the university of texas and make sure you state right here with ktvu channel 2 morning news. when the court decision does come down we will bring it to you on air and on line when it happens and on the night of the ruling, we will bring an in- depth look at 6:30.

whether the supreme court will make a decision on two cases, defense search marriage act and voters approved bans on gay marriages. we will talk about what we can expect when that decision comes down. >> well the anticipation can't be understated but what it ultimately boils down to, the supreme court will make a decision today or sometime early next week as they end the session early next month. they will make the decisions on thursday only and it comes down 7:00 a.m. our time so we are keeping a close eye on that. the supreme court could uphold proposition 8 which could make it illegal and it will lead to gay marriages because of a lower court ruling and third it could strike it down on a narrow ruling which could lead to it going in the state and it

could deny gay marriages as unconstitutional. whether a decision comes down today or not, we spoke with a wedding planner who said she noticed more interests. >> i have got an few more calls where people are seeming to have that hope and to get that completely finalized and i definitely do see it has been more inquires with regard to wedding plans for sure. they are preparing it and it indicates a 20% increase when the decision comes down and they will not start issuing licenses until early next week when they get direction from the state. keep in mind there are 14 cases still pending but we will keep you updated throughout the morning and bring you more on mornings on 2. ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> stay with us here on ktvu

safety measures to protect station agents against assault. i have spoken with people from both sides of this issue and union reps say they there no consensus but they have until the end of next week to negotiate and two state leaders have joined the contract talks and things became so heated that employees and others have stepped away from the bargaining table and they will be talking again today. if they do choose the strike, the union is set to vote on a strike and then they have to give part 72 hours we between
