and the weather warmup is here. >> and bill martin here to tell us how the first full week of summer could feel more like winter. >> winter. >> we're heating up right now. the weekend, the first part looks great. as we get towards the tail end of sunday, it's going to rain around here. how much is still in question. but some areas could see up to an inch of rain. that's unusual. we get rain in june, but not an inch of rain. 88 in santa rosa right now. these were the highs recorded today. morgan hill is the hot spot. 87. 83 up in napa. 88 was the hot spot in santa rosa. highs tomorrow will be right here. so numbers about the same. i think we'll see a couple of 90s. places like santa rosa or morgan hill. this looks like march, maybe late february, early march. active pacific pattern for coming up late june, early july. we're into summer now. we have a pattern that's going to deliver a lot of moisture.

i think we'll see rain. what does it do? great news for firefighters. i think it puts down -- you have fires burning right now up in yosemite. that's going to help. also wets the ground and slows fire season down. rain in the forecast. we'll get to that. we're looking at the forecast highs for tomorrow. what you'll see are more 90s. reds are 90s. forecast highs tomorrow, warmer than today or about same. very similar. sunday things change around. high pressure moves out. this low pressure comes in on sunday. by sunday afternoon, clouds, mostly cloudy. especially in the north bay. maybe a sprinkle. sunday is not a washout. you'll get stuff done sunday. maybe a little drizzle. a day you can do stuff. this day, it's raining on monday. tuesday some showers lingering into the morning commute. that should clear out. two inches of rain in parts of the north bay. computer model shows the rain

coming in here. this is your day that starts to deteriorate. heavy rain gets in around monday around mid-morning in the north bay. works south over the bay area afternoon on monday afternoon for the afternoon commute. june has been dry until these next days. 24th and 25th. we've had rain, a lot of rain in june before. just two years ago we had over two inches of rain in 2011. june, we do get rain in june in san francisco. but it's just this much is what strikes me. if we get an inch of rain in a place like santa rosa or half inch in san francisco, that's significant rainfall. good news for air quality. good news for fire danger. i think it's kind of nice. not going to hammer the weekend. monday, that's the main event. your bay area weekend looks doable. both commute the monday

morning, monday afternoon commute not great. hope it works out if for you. five day forecast then is one that will take fire danger off the table for a couple of weeks. >> so hard to picture rain. >> almost impossible. doesn't happen that much. not this much rain. >> thanks, bill. we're following breaking news in san francisco. we first brought you minutes ago here. a car has gone into the water off the marina green. first live pictures of that scene. according to the san francisco fire department there are people trapped inside that car. rescue teams including the coast guard are on the way. we do have a reporter on the way. this live picture for you, it's not up close, but it is the best picture we can give you. we do see some boats in the water. we understand a rescue operation is underway. we don't know how many people are drapped. if you look in the center of

your screen you see an awful lot of people lined up watching what's unfolding. we're working to find out why that car went into the water, the condition of the people inside, if you've ever driven there right there # -- we're work the story and bring you more information as soon as we get. new at 5, a controversy brewing in the north bay city of napa. plans to build a september acceptth memorial downtown are creating a stir. not because of the memorial itself, but because of a flyer promoting an upcoming fundraiser. john sasaki joins us now from napa with how one little sentence has sparked an uproar here. >> reporter: this is the home of napa's 9/11 memorial. it will be a fitting tribute to those lost 12 years ago. this week the attention has

been diverted. napa's 9/11 memorial is less than three months away from completion. >> we're looking at this as not only to memory ya y'allize the event but take a look and start healing their own wounds. >> reporter: the center piece, 30 tons of steal from the world trade center goes in next week. the project needs another $14,000 in donations. >> i also recognize the importance of 9/11 and what it means to our country. >> reporter: a group called napa forward are holding a fundraiser. they put out this flyer with eyebrow raising headline. >> it's kind of stupid. >> reporter: in papa where a monument stands, the joke intended or not did not go over well. >> i don't know why else they would say something like that. i don't think they should joke about stuff like that. >> probably more the context than anything. maybe making light of it is not the best way to go about it.

>> i don't know who came up with the title. anyone could have come up with something other than that and it would have made more sense. >> reporter: city councilman who is partly responsible for the flyer told me we knew folks would look at it twice. adding he didn't expect it to stir up this controversy. he said this is pulling away from the attention to the project. the world trade center steel is being installed in that circular area next wednesday morning starting at 7:00. live in napa, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. palo alto police are addressing how they plan to deal with the proposed ban on people camping in cars. according to a memo from the acting assistant police chief, enforcement would be complaint driven. he wants officers to first educate people before they start issuing citations. the plan has been an on going issue in the city for over two years. livermore police are looking for two men they say

carried out a pair of burglars yesterday morning. the first happened before 10:15 while the ohm owner was away. the second was around 10 to 11, that happened about 5 miles away. the owner was home and the men took off when they saw him. surveillance camera caught these pictures of the men believed to be the burglars. they are described as white or latino n their early teens or 20s. late teens or early 20s. a white suv was seen nearby in both cases. buyers and sellers are noticing a red hot real estate market. according to the berkeley side blog on sfgate.com, home prices have skyrocketed. one home in the elm wood district was on the market for $1.69 million. it ended up selling for $2.4 million. that is 42% over the asking price. real estate professionals say many homes are seeing multiple
