more runs out of their leadoff spot than the diamondbacks. >> justin: so one away now for willie bloomquist. and there is eaton. bloomquist in the air to left. sounds look a broken bat. two outs. we talk about one underrated player. here's another one, paul goldschmidt. what he means to this team is remarkable. look at his numbers in the wins versus the losses. >> bob: 22% of the rbis for the diamondbacks this year, the highest percentage in the major league. and really has done it without what you would call protection in the lineup. eric chavez had a real nice run for a while before he was injured, went to the disabled list, miguel montero has recently started to heat up. but it's been a one-man band as far as driving in runs in the middle of the lineup. >> justin: supportive fans here in arizona.

extreme. he's hit him four times in his career. for a guy who is known for his command, to hit him four times, carlos took control of that. >> justin: did you ever get hit? >> bob: no one threw at me. i actually played for frank r robinson in my career, who got hit with regularity for no apparent reason. frank said there's other ways to get your payback. that was puig who get hit. greinke then got montero after missing twice. benches clear and it got ugly in a hurry. a lot of punches were thrown, a lot of words exchanged, a lot of suspensions handed down. ian kennedy began serving his

the st. louis cardinals, as you can see, it looks as though the delay is about over. the tarp is off the field and we are getting set for the first pitch at 7:20 p.m. central time right here on fox. you'll have a chance to see one of the top right-handers in the game, shelby miller, e.r.a. barely over 2. minutes away from the first pitch there in st. louis. this is a world series rematch from one of the great world series ever, in 2011. a final in d.c., the rockies win 7-1. the yankees get a big pinch hit rbi double from vernon wells. that was the difference in the bronx, 7-5 the finals. the blue jays, two better than the orioles, bautista. the jays are red hot. the royals lose to the red sox by a run. the giants in extras win 2-1. the phillies battle back to hold off the mets.

under the .500 mark as this is fouled out of play to the right and the count is still 1-2. so there's a foul ball, which leads somewhat into your point about pitch count, which drives you nuts with these younger pitchers and everybody worried about shelby miller, who usually is around 80 pitches through five innings. he gets a strikeout and that's how his night begins. one away here in the first inning. >> tim: in that at-bat you saw -- well, pitch counts are not important for guys who throw as hard as shelby miller. foul balls and strikeouts. it takes at least three pitches to strike somebody out and more often than not, it takes more than that. if you're going to be effective and throw that hard up in the strike zone, for the most part you're going to throw a lot of pitches and it's much adieu

of the year. >> joe: they don't have colby lewis, matt harrison and alexi ogan ogando, three guys that they were hoping to have at the beginning of the season. and really the closest guy is joaquin soria. he's a guy they gave a two-year deal to to help their bullpen. a base hit into center off the bat of beltran. we have our first base runner of the night. beltran's on with one out here in the bottom half. and with the injuries and the guys they called up, the three young arms really pitched well early. that's why through may 19th they had the best record in baseball. and they were rolling. they built up a seven-game lead in the a.l. west, under .500 since may 20th at 13-17. that's the fourth worst record in major league baseball. and they just came out of
