a mess on roads and at the airports. ktvu's noelle walker is live in napa where they are bracing for more. >> we be been to the peninsula, east bay and now here in napa, the rain is a nuisance. >> reporter: where the rubber meets the road it is wet. enough rain to turn the commute into traffic accident. if some drivers are going too fast, they are going nowhere fast. >> we were in denver with the tornado watch. >> reporter: they traveled through a tornado in denver last week to get to their san francisco vacation. >> sirens were going off. it was exciting. >> it was scary. believe me. >> she said this may be her last trip. >> reporter: they arrived at san francisco international airport four hours early.

at the hospital. family says his girlfriend a17- year-old is still here fighting -- a 17-year-old is still here fighting for her life. tis afternoon the couple was sitting at a bus stop just outside the housing complex when someone started shooting at them. you can see in the video the shots blew out the glass of the shelter and some bullets went into a building behind it. no one was inside the unit at the time but the two were rushed here with critical injuries. the man did not survive. police say the suspects pulled up in a car. they got out of the car and started firing. evidence marker suggest there could have been 30 shots fired.

investigators are trying to speak to witnesses, no one has been caught. no motive at this point. i have been in contact with the cousin of a 17-year-old girl, the girl who was shot. she says she was shot in the head and this afternoon was going into surgery as doctors try to save her life. live in san francisco, eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. police say two shots were fired in a kidnapping of an 11- month-old girl. ktvu's ken pritchett is live with more on how the amber alert had a happy ending. >> reporter: the child was taken from this apartment unit. the girl is safe. the police say the man who took her is still on the loose. possibly armed and the suspect is the girl's father. >> reporter: this is the moment when mother and child, justice alasheia benton were reunited. the toddler was kidnapped by her father. officers responded to a 911 call at this apartment unit. >> they received information from family members that joshua elijah benton had come through
