live to janine de la vega, only one lane is getting by, correct? >> reporter: that's right, they opened one lane in the southbound lanes about 20 minutes ago when we were coming here and we just got here and we saw the car involved in the accident, a mazda tribute and we are just hearing there was an accident involved with a big- rig and traffic is very slow here. the sergeant joins me from the california highway patrol, what happened here? >> a big-rig was traveling southbound 880 in the slow lane and somebody came over from the right at a slower speed and the big-rig struck the mazda. the mazda sustained fatal injuries. what is happening now and at one point all lanes were

blocked but that changed what is happening now? >> we are doing an investigation trying to figure out what is going on and we are trying to get the lanes open as soon as possible. right now one, two and three and four lanes are blocked. >> reporter: for people watching what should they it do, should they -- they do, should they take an alternative route? >> 680 south, depending on where you are headed to the bay area. >> thank you. >> reporter: we are also told the coroner is in route and it is unclear if the person who died is a man or woman and the body is still here in the car and we will update you to let you know what the traffic situation is and we will be right back with more updates janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 morning news. a home invasion ended with

three people shot. ktvu channel 2 morning news alex savage has been on the scene and we are learning one of the victims turned the tables on one of the tackers in this case. >> reporter: yes, san francisco police are trying to figure out why this family of four was targeted in a home invasion. they live here all the way down the block on the right-hand side and you can still see police officers on the right- hand side and crime scene technicians are here gathering evidence. three armed men broke in and began shooting, a man and woman who live here were both hit by gunfire and the woman is in critical condition right now. one of the shooting victims wrestled the gun away from the gunman and shot him with it. that gunman was taken to the

hospital in critical condition. police tell us two children were home at the time during the shooting but they were not hurt. >> they were taken to the hospital for observation and hopefully they will be fine. >> reporter: police also say 2 of the three gunmen involved, the two gunmen who were not shot were able to escape before police arrived and they don't have a solid description but the search is still ongoing right now. again three people were shot during the home invasion and two of them remain in critical condition. alex savage, ktvu channel 2 morning news. a lot of nervous bay area workers are set to take a vote, a strike vote in their often bitter contract distribute with management. tara moriarty is live to tell

us more about that vote and how next week could be a computer nightmare, tara? >> reporter: that's right, union bart leaders will be sitting down to take a vote and bart workers will be voting on whether or not to strike and this is something passengers have been dreading and this is a result of the contract negotiations that resumed yesterday. what it means is bart workers to walk off the job shutting down the entire system with 400 passengers who take bart to work every day and the union has filed a lawsuit refusing bart to bulging on safety issues. >> they have been killed over the years and they have refused to do it and the only way we can get them to come to the table is by filing a lawsuit. >> i think it is a smoke scene
