[applause] [cheering] [♪] >> anderson: hey, welcome to the show. look who it is! christie brinkley, everybody! [applause] i'm so excited. i'm excited you are here. >> i am so excited. i was just telling anderson everybody loves you. [applause] [cheering] >> anderson: that is so nice. thank you. >> it's universal. i am co-hosting on anderson cooper and i've been practicing my coffee cup techniques. yes. and but and everywhere i go people are like oh, my god, i
11:02 am
love him. >> anderson: that is sweet. very nice. i can name a couple people who don't. we have a huge show i'm happy to be back on live. i've been away for a while. [applause] and we have a story today ripped from the headlines a woman dubbed the coffee cup killer unfairly. lois goodman is here she a u.s. open umpire accused of murdering her husband with a coffee mug and made huge headlines and tabloids. all the charges have been dropped and she is breaking her silence. >> people accused me of trying to murder them with the coffee. i don't know about the cup. >> anderson: and "dancing with the stars" gilles marini is here. so we are excited about that. [applause] >> very excited about that. >> anderson: but, we have a lot to talk about. because i was away, in gaza reporting on the situation therein i thank rosie o'donnell
11:03 am
and andy cohen for filling in. i survived. first of all, let me tell you first. i am on a plane last night flying back from los angeles and i have a thing about people showing their bare feet on airplanes. and i have talked about this before. everywhere i go i was on an amtrak train trying to eat my mcdonald's number one meal, the big mac meal and a guy was flapping his hobbit feet in my face. sure enough i am on a plane yesterday and about to order the meal and a guy was wearing flip-flops on a plane which is number one mistake. takes off his flip-flops and he got his big fat feet on the seat in front of him. and so i get annoyed so i take his picture. that's the guy's feet. and i zeroed in on the front. >> is it the foot? or does it smell? >> anderson: no it's the foot. a socked foot is fine on a plane. a naked foot on a plane is
11:04 am
inappropriate. it strikes me as no one wants to see your hairy hobbit feet on a plane. i don't know. [applause] and we've noticed now a lot of other people are taking pictures of people's naked feet on planes and buses. we found this on youtube. there is someone videotaping. who wants to see this? if you are eating it seems inappropriate. >> i'm from malibu originally and we went everywhere barefoot. >> anderson: hat is fine. you probably have beautiful feet i'm sure. >> i don't know about that but when you are flying, you know, anything goes. >> anderson: no. >> as far as i'm concerned. you never know what is going to happen up there. this could be your last few minutes enjoy it. i eat the ice cream. stewardess is surprised i know you are not going to have this.
11:05 am
oh, yes, i am. bring it on. >> anderson: in malibu on a beach anything close to a beach, even if are you flying to a beach, i will give you you can be shoeless and naked feet. like if you are on the amtrak and in the snowstorm, i just don't want to see your fat hobbit feet. >> the thing about bare feet and travel have you noticed when you have to go through the machine and you put your shoes up there, and then you do this special walk like this i don't want my balls of my feet to touch the ground like they will catch a disease. people walk on their heels. >> anderson: so i had a terrible incident on a plane and i'm not sure i should tell you this because it's gross. but i l i get out of gaza and everything is fine and i'm flying from tel aviv i was shooting in portugal for 60 minutes. so i get out and i get on a plane in tel aviv and i'm flying
11:06 am
through rome to get to portugal and i suddenly become violently ill. and i don't get ill often. but i noticed like i'm sitting there like oh, my god, i got to go to the bathroom. and i run -- >> you did not throw up on the plane? >> anderson: no, i run to the bathroom and i have an incident in the bathroom. i will not go into details but i normally don't sit down in a public bathroom. i could not help myself i was so desperate and i was in there for a good hour. i mean. yeah, yeah, no. i mean people were banging on the door. i was the star of business class i will tell you that. >> and one thing i do not like on a plane, is people throwing up. >> anderson: so then i leave the bathroom finally. like there is a long line. and i am out of the bathroom for two minutes and all of a sudden i'm like i got to go back and i jump the line.
11:07 am
i'm sorry, you really will want me to go believe me. i go in. not only -- i ended up not only am i sitting on the toilet, i'm throwing up at the same time. >> no. >> anderson: it was the worst. i had things coming out of pours i did not know. and then, this is where it gets disgusting. [laughter] >> it wasn't already? >> anderson: you know the sinks it is full. it's full. and i'm like what do you do? because i was so embarrassed. >> get that container on the wall. >> anderson: the drain it will not drain and i end up having to take all these napkins and soak everything. i know. it was disgusting. truly. i used that bathroom the entire flight. everyone on the plane hated me. i mean, i was the most
11:08 am
disgusting passenger ever. >> are you better now, right. >> anderson: much better, much better. but then, i had nothing but the hardship. then i go to portugal which is a beautiful country i had never been before. stunning place. and it took me days to recover. i had a doctor. i am in this beautiful coastal area shooting a story for 60 minutes involving the water. but i'm on the water, for two hours shooting this story, that night and it's overcast. beautiful sunset that is my instagram picture. beautiful place in portugal. i wake up in the middle of the night and it feels like my eyes are on fire. my eyeballs. and i think maybe i have sand in my eyes. i doused my eyes with water. anyway, it turns out i have sunburned my eyeballs and i go blind. and i went blind for about 36 hours. i took this picture of me after
11:09 am
i went to the hospital. i got to see a doctorment i could not see. that is my new match.com profile picture. that is going to work for me. >> i sunburned my eyeballs once the day before i was skiing on a celebrity ski challenge and i woke up like this the morning of the ski challenge with my eyes like this. i will wear one of those masks that looks like you are robbing a bank. >> anderson: i had no idea you could do this. i wanted to warn people and we have nbc's dr. nancy sniederman to talk about this. i did not realize you can burn your eyeballs. explain this. because the doctor in portugal who was lovely did not speak english so i have no idea what happened to me. >> it's really the uva and uvb rays of the sun and you have pale eyes like i do and if you do not have sunglasses on
11:10 am
polarized it is like the snow blindness that christie talked about and for you, it was the light reflecting off the water. fortunately, it had nothing to do with the vomiting and diarrhea. but it is a reminder that everybody needs sunglasses. it's funny later in life people get cataracts totally preventible if people wore sunglasses. but on the water, on the beach, on the slopes, you burned your retina. and that temporary blindness is common. fortunately for you, if you are going to be fine. but a real reminder. >> anderson: i appreciate you confirming that. because it is terrifying. you can't see anything. and i was -- i didn't know what to do. i googled like burned eyeballs. and sure enough it popped up and i could barely read it. and now i'm taking drops still and the light still is affecting them but i'm told it will get better. >> is it worse for anderson has
11:11 am
gorgeous pale blue baby eyes. >> anderson: tell me more. >> yes, you are absutely right. because anyone with pale blue or green eyes is not going to be able to keep the light out as much. so you're absolutely correct the pale eyes are more susceptible. everybody is. but no doubt anderson is more susceptible than most people and the drops take care of the inflamation. for some people they can have fuzzy vision for a good week or two afterwards. but one time offense you will be just fine. >> anderson: it's repeated exposure. >> what are you doing on the water without sunglasses? >> i never knew. the surfers don't wear sunglasses. people swim in the ocean all the time without sunglasses. who knew? >> from now on, no more. >> anderson: i guess. yeah, i guess so. and doctor thank you, i appreciate it. thank you for calling in dr.

11:17 am

11:20 am
after he was killed. >> what about the behavior that made everybody turn their cameras to him, was there loud screaming? at what point does the person that is observing this, you know, not say ok this is getting out of hand? let's stop this? >> anderson: we see so many people now videotaping fights. and not trying to intervene and help. and you know it's tricky when you intervene because you don't know it could get worse. but i hate to see a situation like this where seems like there were a lot of people around on that platform. you would think it would seem somebody could have tried to intervene. >> i'm concerned. we need to remove the walls and barriers and things that are between us and remember we are all people and we have to like step in and help each other. >> anderson: i agree. [applause] >> dubbed by tabloids as the coffee cup killer, the la court dropped all charges against her ending the five-month ordeal accused of killing alan goodman, her husband of 49 years by blujening him to death with a coffee cup. it started on april 17th when lois called police after finding her husband's body in bed and

covered with blood. an autopsy later revealed that alan suffered multiple blows to his head and pieces of a coffee cup were found embedded. lois goodman a tennis umpire was in new york preparing for the u.s. open when police arrested her for the murder of her husband. as she waited in jail for her day in court, the evidence in the case started to breakdown. first she passed a polygraph test. second, her dna was not found on the murder weapon. and third an outside pathologist determined the cause of alan's death was a heart attack. and not injuries sustained by being hit with a coffee cup. this past october her daughter allison was on the show declaring her mother's innocence. >> the hardest day of my life was when i had to visit her in jail and she was in there in other orange jumpsuit.
