home in an unincorporated area. a caregiver cleaning up the home of someone that recently passed away came across the box full of grenades this morning. deputies evacuated the home with surrounding houses. everyone was allowed back home. authorities cleared the scene at 2:30 . oakland police are investigating a suspicious death this morning. a plan was found dead near 64ableth avenue around 9:30 this morning. police say he was apparently fighting with another man when he died. the name of the 34-year-old victim was not released. the autopsy will determine the cause of death. police are trying to find whoever shot and killed a man five hours earlier in oakland. officers found man lying on the pavement near international boulevard around 5:30. the man that said he was the victim's father identified him as kyle porter. his father says the area is the

three were killed near the finish line of the boston marathon. 17 of the charges could bring life in prison for the 19-year- old or the death penalty. the two alarm fire broke out around 2:15. news chopper 2 got the pictures of the damage. six engines from the fire district responded with help. one firefighter had minor injuries. investigators are trying to look at the cause of the fire and determine where it started. crews will stay until all are out. more changes, new at 5:30, the shake up at the california public utility commission tied to the san bruno blast. california schools have been facing budget cuts, but that's not the case this year. the big changes coming to the classroom. san francisco takes on a new approach in the fight against domestic violence. what it means for victims. there you are.

new at 5:00 a a resource for women that feel they have nowhere to turn. we're live in a city where getting help and getting easier. >> reporter: it's a new day in san francisco's battle against domestic violence. a news conference was held this afternoon to show off a new domestic unit. for the first time, they're helping the victims from the same place inside the hall of justice. before all components were spread out across the third floor. now they're housed together on the second floor. in a city that had 1600 cases last year, he says this is an important step helping survivors receive services and provide justice. >> hit would be wonderful to

have a won stop area where victims would come in. there would be support for the victim, legal team right there, investigators there. everybody would be working together. >> reporter: and coming up on bay area news, we'll tell you about one way this will help protect the victims of domestic violence. live in san francisco, ktvu channel 2 news. san francisco police are investigating a shoot that left two wounded. it happened this morning on gillman between 3ed and jennings street in bay view district. wounds did not appear to be life threatening. it appears someone shot into a crowd. no one has been arrested. the county task force arrested 33-year-old walker while trying to buy a trailer with four pounds of marijuana. agents searched his home and found 300 marijuana plants. they etch ised a second location ands arrested hernandez and land and discovered 1500 more plants.

cross-examination continued in the murder trial of george zimmerman. a woman was on the witness stand a second day. this is one of several racial comments made during the cross- examination. >> describing the person is what made you think it was racial? >> yes. >> that's because he described him as a creepy cracker? >> yes. >> so it was racial but it was because trevon martin but race in this? >> no. >> you don't think that's a racial comment? >> no. >> you don't think creeper cracker is a racial comment? >> no. >> zimmerman says the shooting was in self defense. prosecutors say it was murder.

former patriots tight end is now being investigated with a double murder in boston last year. boston police have impounded a silvers . they believe that is linked to the july 2012 measures and was rented by hernandez at the time. this latest boston investigation comes the same day hernandez was denied bail in the first degree murder case of his friend. a couple got a shock when they opened the water bill and saw they owed $11,000. it showed they used enough water to fill 08 -- fill 80 tanker trucks. >> i looked, laid it out, picked it back up. 440,090 gallons usage. >> the city blamed the reader. 99.9% of bills are accurate and

60s. the five-day forecast as we look at it the next few days is very significant warm up as we go to bay area weekend. friday, tomorrow, upper90s. we could get a hundred somewhere. you might see triple digit heat. around the bay, low 80s. at the coast, just 60s. big difference. big temperature swings between coast and inland. here's your saturday and sunday heat advisory. monday appears to be the hottest in the period. tuesday, things are pretty warm. we'll watch it. a lot of rain as you know. especially north bay few days ago. that's going to help the fire danger any way. heat advisory -- when you talk about this due to weather, heat is the one that takes out the most people. heat advisory, plenty of fluids, take it slow, check on elderly and pets. >> no kids or pets in the car.

some dramatic video as a highway patrol officer tries to break a window on a burning car to search for victims. the car burst into flames after the woman driving it hit a wall in oakland. after officers put the fire out, they found the car was empty. they believe the driver was able to get out and apparently picked up by someone else. a lawsuit settlement before the the port of oakland's board could clear the way for a land deal aimed to build a stadium for the a's. it's called the howard terminal. the port commission was scheduled to hold a closed door meeting on the settlement today. if the commission okays it that
