3:12 pm
do you find these licensed salons. i went to salons here in new york city around the studio. we went to 20 different studios here near rockefeller center. here's the map. that's where we went. of these 20 salons, our staff knew exactly where they were, only four saft lons we went to had l.e. derks lights, this kind of light. five salons had no idea what kind of light they were using. i actually went to say salon myself this weekend. i was curious. folks, well meaning as they were, didn't know what kind of light they had in there. next chance to improve the situation if you're going to get gel manicures. >> one of the things can you do, ask the manicurist to put s.p.f. sunscreen on before you start manicure. dr. oz: easy to do. makes sense. the last time that might be helpful if you're going to get the radiation. >> i love these. anti-u.v. gloves you can bring with you to your manicure and apry them before the process starts. as can you see, only your fingertips are exposed so rest of your hands is protected from the u.v. light. dr. oz: come from men? >> i'm sure they come in many

mind. and subconscious mind is fascinating. it has kept an archive of everything you have ever done, every illness you ever had, every allergy is recorded there and our dreams are one of the ways a subconscious tries to communicate. so you might be having symptoms and you go to the doctor and the doctor -- the very best of doctors are detective sometimes. we have to try something and rule it out. subconscious might be trying to assist you and give some clues. dr. oz: you argue there's one recurring dream, one symbol in our dreams that is absolutely demonstrative of health whafments that symbol? >> if you're having a health dream, very likely will include a house or structure. think of our bodies as structure or home of our mind and spirit. so looking further into the dream, you look at each room, what takes place in that room and how does it relate to my body. so if you start with the stairway, the stairway could be the spine. are you having back problems or is there pain back there? is there a place in the stairwell you focus on in the dream might be a clue about what
3:19 pm
you need to look at. go to the kitchen, where we prepare and store food. look at that kitchen. sometimes our body, we dream about food a lot. especially pregnant women will dream about the foods they need for a specific level of guesttation for that baby or messy, ugly, destroyed and the body is telling you subconscious is trying to communicate you're not absorbing that food or digesting it properly to leave that one alone. think about the bathroom. what happens there? cleansing, elimination. so a digestive issue might show up as a bathroom dream. there's really a lot of common dreams -- i know you're comfortable talking about poop, so -- dr. oz: i love it. so elimination in the bathroom. >> yes. and other part of the house, the roof might represent our mind, is there a hole in it. are you concerned about alzheimer's? have you been having a few issues with that? they also have to do with our guidance. who are we taking our advice from now? subconscious might want you to look at that. dr. oz: why not just the bedroom?
3:20 pm
that's the one i would be thinking about. >> our room. what takes place there, rest, sleep, sex. issue with sexual dysfunctional. if issue not sleeping properly, you may deal with a bedroom dream. dr. oz: let's get to the four most common dreams and this may tell you something about your health whofment here had a dream they would be have been naked in public? put your hands up. you will learn about yourselves. see if this dream sounds familiar. you're going about your normal routine. you're at the office or just walking down the street. all of a sudden, you notice everyone is staring at you. you look down and see your bare feet and then feel a cold breeze on your back. suddenly, you realize you're standing there stark naked. could this dream be trying to tell you the naked truth about your health? what does being naked in a dream in public reveal about your health? >> it's one of the most common
3:21 pm
dreams. almost everyone had a dream of being naked or just partially dressed. it has to do do with feeling overexposed. feel like you're not hiding anything. you're telling the bare truth because there's no place to hide anything. if you're somebody who has an issue with your body. you might have that dream when you discover that spanx are not working, the belly is showing more or can't conceal it. love handles if it's a fella, perhaps. but it has to do with sometimes shame or humiliation, feeling. one of the things we have to look at is how we feel when we come out of the dream. if you felt wble walking around -- wble walking around naked, it would be different if you're ashamed or embarrassed. dr. oz: this is a zreem about adults who have not been in school for years but nevertheless still dream about an exam you did not study for. bell rings and your heart starts to pound. you're back in school, totally unprepared. the teacher is handing out exam papers but you didn't even know there was a test. your palms are sweating. you haven't studied and you
3:22 pm
don't even know what the exam is about. what is this dream trying to teach you about your health? so what is it trying to reveal? >> we have this dream. it's mild anxiety dream and we have it when we feel we will be tested and there will be consequences. in the context of health, contestant can have to do with maybe the doctor told to you quit smoking and you said you would and you haven't and you know you will get found out. or any number of things where there's a blood test or there's some sort of cholesterol coming up and you swore you were eating your proper cereal. and you know you will be found out. but there's a concern that they would be negative consequences and you don't want to fess up but you can't really avoid it because there's going to be a test to prove the results. dr. oz: i have a dream like that very frequently but i don't get nervous in my dreams. i'm happy to be there. am i hiding something too? or am i messed up? >> no you're constantly learning and growing. that would be the positive feeling dream, drime when it's positive when your subconscious mind is giving you a pat on the

the flying dream is a gift from the subconscious mind giving you a sense of freedom and peace and what it did z when you wake up, you don't feel as limited as you did before you went to sleep. dr. oz: are these treatment for stress or is it venting the stress that you feel? >> it's both. one of the reasons we do dream is stress management. so if you have, let's say you have a boss who's just absolutely demanding. you might have a dream that in the dream you're the boss and you're pushing them around or you might see a big bulldozer, kind of a cartoon character and you're taking control and taking power. so the dream will manage your stress and balance it out so when you wake up, you feel less stressed and ready to complete your day. also the dream can give you tips of how you can reduce your stress as well. dr. oz: one last category dreams dieters share with us. see if this sounds familiar. your mouth is watering. your hands are diving into chocolate and candy and you can't seem to get enough. your cravings for something sweet or devouring your every
