sometimes you get it the first night. sometimes it takes a series of dreams. then can you start with working on the emotional part. i had a woman who came into my practice, we were doing dream therapy as part of her weight loss. she remembered in a dream an incident, abuse when she was 12. she realized then she wanted to not look attractive so nobody ever bothered her again. common story. dr. oz: what about the many folks who don't think they can remember their dreamsment how many of you don't think you can have dreams you remember? at least half the audience. how do you help them? >> we know everybody dreams every night. so you just have to remind yourself, i will remember my dream. my dream is important to me. when i wake, my dream will easily come to mind. if you wake to an alarm clock or phone, link those together, pav lock. when my alarm clock goes off, my dream will come to mind. i believe in journaling. i think it's the best way to have aa consistent take what's going on. link together often and get deeper understanding of what they mean.
3:31 pm
so even if you just wake with a feeling the first night after not dreaming for years, write down how you felt. if you get a fragment or glimpse, jot that down. i never have anyone who took more than two weeks who wanted to, who started remembering their dreams. dr. oz: i like that. >> thank you. dr. oz: we have veronica and jerry keep a dream journal the past week and cynthia use thad to help decode their dreams and help them hopefully lose weight. you don't know anything about veronica and dara, right? going to meet her now with some insight. veronica, what did you dream about? >> i just found this assignment so interesting. i ended up having really bizarre, wild dreams. it will be interesting to find out what they're about. but in one dream i had a dream about the house that i grew up in. it's my grandparents' farm house and it's always in my dream, a lot of times. my grandfather is in my dreams quite a bit lately also. then i also had in that dream where at the end i was painting the house from blue to white, so -- >> is it my understanding wanted

3:34 pm
weight? >> the more unique and wild and bizarre, sometimes the more fun it is. our subconscious minds are very come cal. they come up, the use of symbols it knows you associate a certain thing with. it can be bizarre. no beginning, middle or end necessarily. white baby, not yours. you also wanted to lose weight, right? it says this baby your carrying around is not yours. you don't have to keep it. you don't have to. it's obvious in a see-threw case and you're carrying it. you're bearing the weight of it. it's popping out. your subconscious is saying, hey, you don't have to carry this baby around. it's not yours clearly. what i would say, dreams are free -- there's as natural as blood pressure and cholesterol. look at it and explore it and see if it makes sense. sometimes you have to be dream detective and put it together over several nights. dr. oz: you kindly helped us with this. cynthia allowed us to identify

dr. oz: getting your daily vitamins could be a key to a longer life but if you can't remember to take the pills every morning and don't have the money,ly show you how you can eat your daily vitamins. what vitamins do you take daily? >> probably not enough or maybe too many. i take a multivitamin, bioteen,
3:39 pm
several that you suggested. that's pretty much it. dr. oz: body turns out over 400 different vitamins and minerals, essential ones. a lot of pills to take. >> a whole lot. dr. oz: instead i created vitamin cheat sheet you can benefit from. get the essential daily vitamins from your food. you don't have to take it in pill form. you have to eat something. the key is what will you eat to get vitamins? let's start with first essential vitamin and that's vitamin a. like the alphabet. start with vitamin a. the thing about vitamin a, it's usually beneficial for folks who want to get rid of wrinkles. are you in that group? >> just starting to. i have fine lines here. they're there, believe me. dr. oz: very fine. smile lines i see. but keep smiling. vitamin a is a bunch of things. helps prevent wrinkles and stimulates proteins in the skin that make it resilient and little lasting and also very important as an anti-inflammatory product. it reduces irritation that could

lead to wrinkles as well. the question is how do you get enough? two simple answers, orange foods and general things with vitamin a will be orange. large sweet potato for dinner and cantaloupe or grapefruit breakfast. either one is fine or get your serving from that alone. achieveable, i hope. >> that's achieveable. dr. oz: next is b vitamins for anybody worried about energy or late,s this important after having your list. what time of day is your energy the sfloast >> it's progressive. starts about 9:00 in the morning and it just gets worse and worse until i probably bottom out at about 3:00. dr. oz: then what do you do? >> reich in the drawer and get some reese's peanut butter cups, a couple chocolate chip cookies -- dr. oz: stop. you're digging a hole. b vitamins are great that help fight a bunch of problems but give you energy, which is why i like them a lot. and you need b vitamins for the machinery to work the way it's supposed to work. how do you get enough? two simple examples. first is shrimp, which i think is fantastic idea. rich in b-12, which you need for

red cells and other things as well and bananas are great. simple way of getting key elements. next, splinet c. we talk about vitamin c a fair a hugely valuable fighting off cold and flu. it's also beneficial we believe in fighting off some cancers. how often do you get sick a year? >> as i have gotten younger -- yes, i did say younger, i find myself getting sick at least twice a year but january, flu season is the worst. dr. oz: again a lot of folks think carefully in their minds find one, two times a year where they don't feel as healthy as they normally would feel. probably due to virus or other inlambtory process. vitamin c most people correlate with orange juice. and oranges. i love those. but turns out that even better source readily available, positive p.a. piia will do it or kiwi will do it. both rich in vitamin c. these offer three times more splinet c then you actually need to have in a single day. easy to get vitamin c without taking a bill. vitamin d is an interesting

3:43 pm
>> yeah. dr. oz: when we were younger, typical to get burned. didn't think twice about it. vitamin e is beneficial in repairing damaged skin, a good thing and also do a lot of great services for your brain. turns out people who naturally eat vitamin e in their diet seem to have lower incidents of alzheimer's. get a couple ounces of sunflower seeds or two ounces of almonds, get it either way or that can get you vitamin e you need. the big cheat sheet, that has a lot of other foods that i haven't mentioned today. youthly valuable. it's on doctoroz.com. download and enjoy it. will you do that? >> thank you very much. dr. oz: get away without vitamins all the time. when we come back, most powerful food group of them all. loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. to make sure that you do. the first mistake everyone is making is that you wait until t is too late. when do you eat your veggies? >> dinner time. that is the only time we are together with the family sitting down. i was raised where vegetables are part of dinner time. dr. oz: it turns out folkses that delay their veggies until later in the day, 3-5 servings you are supposed to get are much less likely to get them if they stall until dinner time. have a good solution. erry strong spinach smoothy. i want you to include spinach in a traditional smoothy recipe. ou won't taste it. you take orange juice.
