today with no agreement. bart employees' contract expires tomorrow at midnight and they are threatening to strike on monday. kiro 7's debora villalon is live at bart headquarters with how negotiations went from bad to worse and also what is next? >> reporter: heather, to hear the unions tell it their barge ying team all day yesterday and today in those rooms waiting for face-to- face talks that never happened. so they left. picket signs pointing the way to a strike, and they are being made this eke by union leaders who had walked out of bart headquarters claiming nothing was getting done. >> we were there, waiting. we have been waiting. we're still waiting and unfortunately we have to prepare for what is coming up. >> reporter: what is coming up, a strike like the last one in 1997 that gridlocked the bay area in traffic and lost productivity. 16 years later, bart has more

your compute. our live coverage on the possible strike starts at 4:00 a.m.. tonight the bay area remains under an excessive-heat warning with temperatures climbing to triple-digits in many places. brentwood was one those spots. we saw people picking green bean as you weir expecting to see even higher temperatures as the heatwave continues. >> meteorologist mark tamayo is here with more on the big warm-up. >> today, day 26 triple-digit heat across parts of bay area. the highs from this afternoon ranged on the cool end, mainly in the 80s, but of course the big headline, look at the 10in santa rosa. 104 in concord and 106 in fairfield and antioch, livermore, 105 degrees and morgan hill, 102 and this is not only an issue in the bay area, but a good portion of the west. the red areas are areas under excessive-heat warnings and will deploy some of the sensors

for this 10:00 hour it's currently 106 in phoenix. right now in palm springs it's 100 degrees. closer inspection of our current temperatures we had that seabreeze kicking in, so the coast and the bay not so hot, but the we have warm to hot temperatures inland, currently mid-80s and livermore 81 degree. as far as that excessive heat warning it remains in place through at least tuesday, possibly into wednesday. this in place for the north bay valleys the inland valleys, south bay including san josi and santa cruz mountains with temperaturing ranging in the whole area from the mid-90s to 107 degrees. coming up we'll take a closer look at the very hot temperatures in your sunday forecast and we'll break down the timing of a possible cooldown. a swimming pool was a popular place to be, especially people in the hotter inland areas. >> it's a little too hot for me, but nothing beats a good pool on a hot day. >> at water world, waterpark in concord, about 10,000 people

the proposition 8 decision. word that the ban on same-sex marriage ended yesterday brought dozens of couples to san francisco city hall today. the city clerk's office is staying open all weekend to perform weddings, but supporters of prop 8 not giving up. the backers of the gay marriage ban filed an emergency petition with the supreme court and say they violated the waiting period. they also pounded out even though the 9th circuit's announcement came an as an apparent sunshine however the same-sex plaintiffs in the case hp to be in position to perform same-sex marriage just moments after the 9th circuit's unexpected announcement. same-sex couples are flocking to san francisco's city hall to get married. ktvu's john sasaki shows us the wave of weddings that one couple waited nearly two decades for. >> reporter:

suspicion of molesting as much as a dozen children. martin was taken into custody thursday night. police say an extensive investigation was launched into martin after a student claimed to have been inappropriately touched by him. the woodside elementary teacher is held on multiple charges related to child molestation. bail is set at $3,950,000. >> wb wc city officials plan to release a controversial report about the actions of four employees at the lesher center for failing to report alleged sexual abuse. the employees were place on paid administrative leave, but later reinstated. the report found the four acted appropriately. the city council resisted making that report public, but then friday voted to release it. the report is expected to be available on monday. changes are coming to facebook. the menlo park-based company says it will no longer place ads on pages with sexual or violent content. the move came after several

. we have some breaking news right now, police are on scene of a shooting that sent two people to the hospital and at least one of the victims is a child. but we don't know child's age at this point. police say the shooting happened just about an hour ago at6th near sunny side street next to a park and community center. officers on the scene say at lete one of the victim was taken to children's hospital in oakland. it's not clear how seriously the victims were injured. police say the scene is chaotic and they are interviewing people in the area right now. no suspect information has been released. now to more coverage of the western heatwave. everyone in los angeles seemed to have the same idea today, well head to the beach. you can see just how crowded was the manhattan beach today. there was even a little fog to keep at heat at bay.

in. the huge turnout prompted by those supreme court rulings. a celebration of gay pride taken to new heights. in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. an antioch man who survived a shooting yesterday was shot again today and died. police say the 42-year-old was man first shot yesterday morning on porch of his apartment near sycamore drive. he suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was treated at the a hospital and released. he radio refused to talk to officers. this morning police were called to the same apartment and this time the man was critically wounded. weigh was taken to the hospital where he later died. >> one year after the chevron refinery fire in richmond there are plans for a billion-dollar upgrade, not only creating hundreds of jobs, but allows the company to process a wider array of crude oils. if approved the plan would replace older equipment with

newer technology to make the refinery safer and refuse greenhouse gas emissions. the city of richmond is expected to approve that project next year. on monday, student loan rates will double. after lawmakers in washington failed to reach a deal to keep them at their current levels. interest rates on stanford loans go from 3.4% to 6.8% on monday. a congressional committee estimates that the hike will cost the average student more than $2500. the senate can decide to take up the issue again when it reconvenes after the 4th of july holiday. ktvu got a behind the scenes look at a soon to open museum in san francisco that pays tribute to the oven overlooked service of japanese- americans during world war 2. this is building 640 in the presideo, once home to the world war 2's first-class of japanese-americans born to pants who immigrated. those soldiers interrogated japanese prisoners in the

digit territory, but this bringing some relief towards the coast and the bay, of the this area of strong high pressure building in and remains in place over the next few days, sunday, monday, tuesday and into wednesday. so inland spots around 100, could be approaching 105-106 degrees. once again for tomorrow and into monday. and then excessive heat inland with that advisory, that warning in place as we showed you on through tuesday night, possibly into wednesday. our forecast models showing all sorts of different colors. the greens, the 60s to right around 70 coastside and other extreme forwards fairfield, concord and livermore. a look at your forecast highs for your sunday afternoon. look at the triple-digits toward santa rosa and vackrillville. >> san rafael mid-90s, 95 degrees and round the rim of the bay, 80s. head over the hill a completely different story. lots of triple-digits towards walnut creek, antioch and brentwood.
