hours, till 7:00 p.m. tonight for the valleys, the south bay and the mountains. the temperatures above 100 degrees. livermore from last week, 28 through today, high of 102 degrees this afternoon in livermore. as far as current temperatures right now. it is still hot. watt mull creek -- walnut creak 100. oakland 78. cooler near the shoreline and san francisco. coming up, we will look at the fireworks forecast for this evening. the big change you can expect for friday temperatures and a quick peak at your weekend. getting into san francisco may be difficult due to the bart strike. a live picture of the toll plaza. it is backed up already. although the lanes in the middle are fast track. they are moving well. once you get on the bridge traffic flows well.

it is getting through the plaza that will be the difficult part. if you are going into the city, ktvu's eric rasmussen is live in san francisco where public transportation options are limited because of the holiday today. eric? >> reporter: they are. what a difference a holiday makes. look at the terminal here. things still busy but nothing like what we have seen the last few days. no lines like there have been. special bart shuttles have been scaling back but a.c. transit increased their work load for the 4th of july. they added 11 extra bosses and operating on a sunday schedule. buses are arriving every 15 minutes rather than every half hour. a.c. transit added service to make up for the other agencies. we found people trying to find their way into san francisco

for work and to celebrate the holiday. >> waitingwaitingwaiting for the bus. should be fine. bart is more convenient. >> reporter: things have also been very busy on the embarcadero all day. plenty of traffic on the roads and some traffic on our way into the city on the bay bridge today. muni is also providing shuttle service till 8:30 p.m. tonight. return service is from 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. if the bart strike continues there could be extra bus service this weekend. eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. bart scaled back its bus service today. three buses each this morning. return trips from san francisco are sill 6:00 p.m. tonight. ferry service is also being

scaled back due to the holiday. the san francisco and the blue and gold didn't provide extra service. weekend ferry service is expected to be back tomorrow. day four of the bart strike has negotiators and union members back at the table. >> ken pritchett is live with why it appears they remain far apart on a deal. >> reporter: unlike yesterday when there was a tight led on information today we heard quite a bit more in substance and tone. we heard from one union member this morning who said he is frustrated and frustrated and tired. >> working hard. there was a mix of sentiments as they resumed talks at 11:00 a.m. this morning. he called the talk as mess. >> they haven't addressed any of the safety concerns the

unions have. >> reporter: mediators asked them to keep details of the talks quiet, bart complied. >> we are working to reach a fair contract for our workers. and to come to some agreements that will allow us to do what we need to do for bart. >> reporter: this afternoon negotiators left the talks for an hour taupdate workers on the -- to update workers on the picket line. there they suggested bart threatened to impose a contract because the talks are at an impasse. >> we are not at impasse. it is unlawful. they can't impose on us but they are trying to weaken us. >> reporter: that was the chief negotiator giving an update to striking workers at the bart station on july 4. it is not

12:45 a.m. this morning. it may have by started by fireworks. crews put out the flames and no one was hurt but that area is considered a threat zone due to the dangerously dry conditions. firefighters contained a brush fire near the pass. it broke out before 10:00 a.m. this morning on interstate 5 a80. cal fire says it was sparked by car that caught fire. no structures were burned. today's hot weather has arborrer keeping a watch on trees. a tree was up rooted 4:30 a.m. this morning at an apartment complex. you can see there it is leaning on that building. four unionts it to -- units it to be evacuated. the hot weather is probably to blame. >> these trees will draw the water wait to the top on a hot day, creating excessive wait

and they uproot or break out. >> everyone has been allowed back into the units. the tree's roots broke a water line. police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing teen who has autism. he went missing at 10:00 a.m. this morning. he is 5'8", weighs 130 pounds. they are concerned because he has the mental capacity of a 5 to 7-year-old. a man arrested after a hotel stand off with police faces charges. police say he was swinging a hammer and threatening a 911 caller with a wooden board in the parking lot yesterday afternoon. he barricaded himself in his room and came out after officers threw tear gas through

the windows. he was booked into jail. a business owner is furious after someone stole her delivery truck today and she caught the entire thing on camera. this is surveillance video shot outside the store. you can see the man approach the struck. fiddle with the lock and breaks in and then drives off with the stolen struck. the owner says her shop has been hit by crime before. >> i was still in shock. i don't know what to say. i am like 4th of july, they always use this holiday to do this nasty things. they were breaking the glass of the struck. >> the truck was loaded with a delivery for a client and she will have to reorder the class. people turned out in the heat for the 4th of july

this week desperate commuters stuck in line are sold an opportunity it get across the bay in style but they have to pay up to do it. ktvu's eric rasmussen spotted limo drivers offering rides to folks but they weren't eager to talk about it. eric? >> reporter: we couldn't get a name, whether they were working on their own or with a company. today are quieter here at the terminal for the 4th of july but this week we have seen limo drivers walking up to people in line for the bus, trying to drum up business. >> reporter: we found him offering commuters a different way out of san francisco on wednesday evening. >> we don't want to do interviews. it is not for us to get rich. >> reporter: $15 to get out of the line for the bus and into this limo.

they normally charge 25. >> we are not doing it for the fame or the fortune. i don't want to be on camera. >> i live in berkeley. yeah. >> after three days of nightmare commutes, she was willing to take a chance. >> tragic, we are going into random limos. we will see what happens. >> reporter: she wasn't the only one looking for an alternative. we watched others paying to get in. >> that is dangerous. >> reporter: he says limos offering this kind of service are breaking the law. >> they cannot walk to a person and say i take you. they have to have a phone appointment. >> reporter: but during week like this one don't expect anyone here to be complaining.

>> reporter: cab drivers say they are also not allowed to offer unsolicited rides. they have to be flagged down. his business is down almost 30% this week because no one is coming into had city. live in san francisco, eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. this year police will be out throughout the region over the holiday weekend looking for drunk drivers. san francisco, santa clara, contra costa county and other counties will be staffing dui check point. san francisco police will start saturation patrols and setting up a check point saturday night. the california highway patrol released the numbers from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. this morning. they arrested 196 people for drunk driving.
