is no permanent deal striking bart transit workers will return to their job next month. tara moriarty is in oakland where train service will return this afternoon. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. that is right. at 3:00 -- what it basically means for the next 30 days the two sides will try to iron out a deal. if they can't, the workers will go back on strike. now last night just before 11:00 state mediators announced after another marathon bargaining the strike will go to a bind. >> the job is not done and everybody will be just as hard as they have the last few days. to see to it we have a good contract. that pays the workers fairly. keeps the trains running.

>> reporter: now bart's general manager who had been criticized by union workers for not being at the negotiating table walked out of the session last night and confirmed that trains would be rolling at 3:00. union leaders say this is the first time they have seen her this week. body language from managers seem to be the same. but union leaders say that are very far from work out a contract. coming up we will hear from one of the union presidents. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. >> in the meantime bart will provide limited charter bus services for the morning and afternoon commute. bart will have seven buses at five eastbound stations. each bus carries 50 passengers. once filled, it will go to san

evacuate. but the fire crews did an excellent job of responding up here. containing the fire and putting it out. >> police and fire officials say it's too early to determine the cause. >> in the meantime herders quickly moved a herd of goats to safety. the animals had been grazing in the area where the fire broke out yesterday. the goats are part of a prior prevention program to help reduce fire danger in the hills. new this morning scary moments in contra costa county where two vegetation fires broke out. fire officials say two acres burned. the cause is unknown but neighbors say they heard fire works.

in marin county full containment of a small vegetation fire is expected at sunrise this morning. here's a photo of the fire from the marin independent journal. 80 firefighters were sent to the scene on indian fire road after smoke was reported at 9:30 last night. two hours later crews had the fire at 50% containment. an estimated two acres burned. the cause of that fire under investigation. good many times oakland police are investigating two homicides. police found a man shot to death around 12:30 this morning. the car was up on the sidewalk. police says it appears the -- police are also investigating addledly shooting. anyone with information should call police. we also have new information about a water main break in downtown danville. water on the streets have started to subside. but the situation has forced closure of some streets.

water flooded hearth avenue at 6:00 last night. this morning hearts is closed. fourth of july fire works show went terribly wrong in southern california. leaving more than two dozen people injured. the accident happened around 9:20 last night. just two minutes into a fire works show. the fire works exploded and went sideways into the cloud instead of up in the air. at least 28 people were hurt. four of them seriously. right now law enforcement agencies are patrolling bay area roads looking for drunk drivers. the fourth of july is one of the busier weeks for law enforcement agencies. the san francisco police plan to add extra patrols starting tonight. they will also plan sal dui and driver's license check point on

saturday night. the first nights of the holiday dui enforcement chp arrested 96 people for drunk driving. happening today more america's cup celebrations. ceremonial parade of boats under way at 11:00 this morning. time trials will be held an hour later. it will start at pier 4 and continue to the marina green. thousands turned out for the opening ceremonies. but the event is not without controversy. two teams are protesting what they call unfair changes to the rules in the wake of a deadly training accident. >> the closer we get to the races, the more the teams are getting nervous. what we are seeing is typical of the america's cup just prior to the racing starts.
