garage. brian flores is there now. >> reporter: behind me is the converted garage that was turned into a living area. it's actually behind the main house. investigators are looking into whether fireworks played a role. a cause is yet to be determined. investigators have narrowed their focus. this is cell phone video obtained by a neighbor who lives across the street and didn't want to be identified. this is around 2:40 of a converted garage living area that cause fire. a family of three lived inside. >> i'm so disappointed to see this happen in my neighborhood. i live down the street and i see these people practically every day. >> reporter: the contra costa county coroner's office identified the bodies, a woman from laos and her husband, 56- year-old man also of laos. their son in his 20s has severe burns on his entire body and is in severe condition at st.

francis. the homeowner said he rented the home to the family of eight about three years ago and had no idea that the garage was converted into a living place. >> they were having a party. they say the neighbor was trying to help him. it stopped like 2:00 last night. >> reporter: despite having an electrical cord running from the house to the garage, investigators say the electrical did not cause the fire. neighbor says the family partied until the early-morning hours on the 4th. investigators are looking into whether alcohol, cigarettes or even fireworks are the possible causes. >> because in the rear we have the same cigarette butts, alcohol, and remnants of fireworks. >> reporter: as for the rest of the family, they didn't want to talk and are staying with close family friends nearby. >> reporter: investigators this afternoon are looking into whether it was the sun who lit the fireworks. they believe his parents were sleeping at the time. live here in richmond, i'm

brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. one man is fighting for his life after a triple shooting in san francisco's mission district. the shooting was reported at 1:30 at 16th and valencia. police say someone came up to a group of people and started shooting. a 34-year-old man was shot and has life-threatening injuries. a 22-year-old man was shot in his leg and a third victim, grazed by a bullet. the police are looking for the shooter. b.a.r.t. workers are finally back on the home. there's still no agreement on a contract. but they are going back to work for another 30 days while negotiations continue. that means the trains should be up and running for the next few hours. katie utehs has more. katie. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. workers are back to work trying to get everything ready to get this massive transit system up and running. we're at the lake merritt station where the doors are still locked.

within a few short hours, b.a.r.t. will be open for business around 3:00 i'm told. that's when the trains will be running again. union and b.a.r.t. negotiators have agreed to a -- agreed to a 30-day period. negotiators meantime will continue to work towards a new contract and b.a.r.t. employees are headed back to work. you can see the crews in richmond trying to get ready for the evening commute. they will be busy for the next several hours for what could be a busy evening commute. >> we're powering up the systems, making sure the electronic systems are working. a lot is taking place to get those trains out the door. >> reporter: the determine agreement came late last night following four days of union employees striking and contentious contract negotiations between leaders on both sides. the four-day strike definitely hurt b.a.r.t.'s bottom line. >> we spent about did 100,000

on the buses a day. we're losing a million dollars in fare revenue. basically, we've crunched the numbers. this whole week we've lost about $3.9 million. even though we saved money not playing our employees on strike and not using as much electricity, we are actually losing money because of the loss in revenue and the exexpense it was -- expense it was to provide the buses but it was the least we could do to get people to where they needed to go. >> reporter: this is a contentious strike. b.a.r.t. wants to remind people to be polite to station employees. if you accost an employee, it's not only punishable legally but you could be kicked off the b.a.r.t. system for up to a year. katie utehs, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, katie. this morning, usual b.a.r.t. commuters had to ride on alternative transportation one more time. janine de la vega spent the

morning with commuters. >> reporter: commuters started to line up before 5:00 a.m. in fremont to board free buses to san francisco. many heard the b.a.r.t. strike was on hold but that didn't help their anxiety about getting to work in the future. >> i hope they change their mind not to do this fen. this is really horrible. >> for people like me who makes a little money. this is a burden. it's just not right. >> reporter: many passengers have been getting up an hour or so earlier than normal, standing in line and enduring a two 0 three-hour commute in the city. a limited amount of buses have been provided free between 2,000 to 4,000 people a day. it was not enough to accommodate the 4,000 b.a.r.t. normally serves a day. >> they settled temporarily. 30-day stay, if you will. >> reporter: this b.a.r.t. employee usually spends his day overseeing the springs project but is pulling double duty,

a rough morning for the america's cup. organizers planned a parade for the boats out on the bay. but high wind conditions prevented that. the first round of races is set for is set for sunday. but the italian captain said they may not compete. two teams are protesting due -- due to rule changes in the wake of a racer's death. [inaudible ] >> and international jury is set to rule on this monday. police say two men went into the wing-stop restaurant monday night into work. the two allegedly had words with another customer and rant into the restaurant's freezer.

wing-stop workers went to check on the two men. police say one of them, girlie, immediately opened fire and killed them both. he's set to appear in court. a second suspect is still on the run. illegal fireworks sparked an oakland house fire but it was what firefighters had them calling police. an off--duty firefighter saw smoke just 7:00 and called it in. fire firefighters say fireworks started the fire and spread to the building. while putting out the flames, they found about a hundred marijuana plants growing in. >> they are all connected through windows and doors. they are all related. >> no arrests have been made. the police are interviewing the homeowner and another individual who lives there.

firefighters were busy putting out a brush fire in the oakland hills. that started at an abandoned girl scout cabin at joaquin miller park. about three acres of fire burned. firefighters were out checking for hot spots. no other structures were damaged. firefighters say some of the residents left on their own. a couple from campbell have been found in the wilderness. they were overcome by heat on wednesday in arizona near the border with utah. authorities say the temperature was over 100 degrees. hikers found found her body yesterday and his body was found 100 feet away. diablo road between friends street and harts avenue remains closed due to a 148-inch water

main broke that flooded the area. look at those pictures. right now, nearby homes are without water services and have downtown businesses have complained about low prrt pressure -- about low water pressure. joe biden is headed to arizona for the member for the 19 firefighters killed in the yarnell fire. two red cross teams are on their way right now to help people affected by the wildfire. they left from oakland and from fairfield. their red cross response vehicles can feed up to 1,000 meals a day and volunteers will help people who left home with prescription medication and eyeglasses. we'll be very busy as well as hydrating and helping on scene.

well, testimony in the george zimmerman murder trial is being heard right now for a ninth day. it began this morning with trayvon martin's mother taking the stand. prosecutors played back 911 tapes as she listened. they were from the night trayvon martin was killed. fulton testified it was her son calling out for help. >> if you were to listen to that type and not hear your son's voice that would mean it would have been george zimmerman's voice, is that correct? >> i did not hear my son screaming? is that what you are asking? >> yes. >> i heard my son screaming.

>> george zimmerman has pled not guilty to second-degree murder claiming he shot trayvon martin in self-defense. we are learning new details about the condition of former south african president nelson mandela. cnn reports that he's on life support but is not in a vegetative state as was earlier reported. the 94-year-old man has been received kidney dialysis and does open his eyes when people talk to him. he was admitted to a prier to yaur hospital on june -- pretoria hospital on june 8th. the turmoil in egypt has turned deadly. hundreds of morsi supporters were marching toward the republican guard headquarters in cairo where morsi was staying just before he was ousted by the military. when protesters began to hang his picture on the barricade, soldiers opened fire on the crowd and at least one person was killed. a group of uc students arrived at san francisco's

updated right now, instead of 90s and 80s. we're talking about 50s, 60s, 70s. it's 74 in fairfield. oakland mid-60s and san francisco in the upper 60s. wind speeds have been picking up as well. we're expecting gusty winds. winds out of the south at 25 miles an hour. and some more importance to show you especially out towards sfo, winds out of the southwest at 17. that's the cooling direction and you will notice the temperature drop for today, easily dropping 20, 25 degrees. so the heat is moving out. this area of high pressure moving out of town. being replaced by this guy. this will drop our temperatures in the weekend. it looks like saturday will be the coolest day of the weekend with a lot of low clouds and fog. we'll start out with the inland neighbors. temperatures begin to warm up a lit for the second half of the weekend. at least for today we're showing you no triple digits. warmest locations, barrel little 90 out towards -- barely

the june's jobs report confirning the economic recovery. employers added 1 the 5,000 jobs last month -- added 195,000 jobs last month. the unemployment rate stayed at 7.6% because more people started to look for work. here's a look at the big board. the dow is up 89 points. s&p up 10. nasdaq is up 24 points. looks like traders are happen pip with the news. two vegetation fires in contra costa county are out. want to show you video. fire officials say two acres burned. the cause is unknown. but neighbors say they had been hearing fireworks. crews responded to a vegetation fire in el sobrante that briefly threatened homes near appian way. one acre burned. no homes were damaged. firefighters scrambled to put out two homes that broke
